  1. I was a camp counselor for the hockey camps for a summer through the residence halls, if any one has any questions I can probably help you out with info. The kids work their asses off but they have a great time, they are watched pretty carefully from the residence halls when they were with us. We woke them up got them breakfast walked them to the arena and later they were brought back with their hockey counselor (Usually a UND player or former UND player) they are entertained by the Hall staff at night they stay in the UND residence halls usually Walsh or Squires. There are commuters too who get dropped of and picked up by parents or what not. There were kids at the camps ranging from 6-17 and they came back tired and smelly every day. Coach Blais has a great deal of involvement with the camps and campers when they are at camp, I met with him a couple times and he really likes the camps and working with the kids.
  2. well then we have a problem...If Lammy isnt coming in and then Sedevie looks as if he had his scholarship pulled and just got traded, that leaves Ziegelmann, and who else? Unless the source meant that Blais would be carrying three goalies next year, meaning Brandt, Bida, and Ziegelmann, that would sound realistic.
  3. It might even be interesting to zamboni the ice and play a full 20 minute overtime. I just really hate ties, I want to give a game every possible chance with in reason to be won, the overtime loss point does a lot for that, and maybe more time.
  4. Good to hear we have such highly regarded talent coming in next year. Not including goalies it looks like everybody new except Bina will come in drafted. Smaby must be an animal, having never played college and is already projected a late second / early third round pick... not bad at all.
  5. Im not too sure about that. I think the way it works with the 2 ref system is that one guy stays high on the play at the blue line and the other guy gets down in there. I would think that its the ref that is down by the goals responsibility to blow the whistle. In the NHL you rarely see the ref behind the play blow the puck dead on a cover up. But I do agree that sometimes the refs are a little quick on the trigger finger and blow the puck dead waaay to fast. I remember us getting screwed a couple times last year on that. On another note I just want to float an idea about over time. What if you bumped the 5 minute overtime period to 10 minutes? That would give much more time to decide a winner, frankly I hate ties but a shoot out format or play till you drop wont really work in regular season college hockey.
  6. Sorry... Schimdt was just the first name that came to my mind... Anderson is much worse.
  7. Thanks ... I say we sign him now.... We could just convert some of the excess goalies into D-men Either that or equipment managers!! Or hell... Lets get unethical and sign as many goalies as we can to VERBAL commitments and then sell their rights to other teams. With out any paper trail they could easilly make more money than they ever could by moving the students!!! I know I'm a smart a$$, but I have to enjoy myself dont I?
  8. The fact that he is still on the track team could mean that he didnt piss off the coach as much as he managed to piss off Coach Lennon.
  9. I like the idea of having 2 refs on the ice, It gives less of an excuse for missed calls, but of course putting Schmidt and Adam on the ice at the same time could result in much swearing from the student section. (and we wouldnt want that, would we but I am only a student for 4 more days.) As for the overtime changes... I think that it could go either way, but if you are going to give a point for an over time loss you should set up the game so there is no such thing as a tie. Either go down the shoot out road or play till some one scores like the NHL playoffs.
  10. doh---Im studying for finals, I am using too much brain energy on such wonderful topics as Perception, Drugs and Society, and most of all Human Sexuality... Highly reccomend that class... good dirty fun. Does any one know if Jordan Parise is any good?
  11. Is Jordan that good? It doesnt seem that Zach Parise would be used as a tool to get his brother especially as good as he is/ will be, but if Jordan Parise is a Giggy (sorry Wild fans but Giggy is playing out of his mind) I would do anything to get him, but its not like UND took a big roster hit in being forced to recruit Zach Parise. ---Please note the thick sarcasm---
  12. In an article previously reported in this forum by the Lincoln Journal-Star reported that Lincoln traded to get Sedevie. (Click Here to read) This must indicate that his scholarship was pulled, why would a team trade for a player that was slated to leave before the next season. I knew something had to give they have to many goalies as is not to mention bringing in 2 one year and one the next. But it looks like we may have Ziegelmann and Lammy here next year, It wouldnt shock me to see one of them redshirted for a year but time will tell.
  13. It was the one on Colombia, I wish I could remember the name but the two individuals that I talked to rated him high on the moron scale... eyes rolling and everything
  14. What people tend to forget is the fact that the name issue has been decided by the state board of Higher Ed. That means the Kupchella or is possible predecessor has no say on the matter. The State board has already spoken when it came to them last year. So really its a moot point.
  15. Holy crap... Giggy has save the ducks ass like 4 times and the post did it twice. Some give this guy a drug test... Im thinkin roids are involved here.
  16. To me it did seem that the Wild were losing some battles at times and having problems clearing the zone, but in the end... who cares... they won.
  17. Sweet Sassy Molassey.... I am thankful that I am not a big Vikings guy. 100 million dollars for 10 years... Maybe the Vikes management is as incompetent as everybody thinks geeeez. The could have drafted Byron Leftwitch and signed Duante for 3 years and moved on... but thats just my 2 cents.
  18. Cloutier has proven throughout his carrer that he is a play off chocker. He had a good regular season but I think he rode his defence, but he really proved ineffective. Maybe he will have to look for another job?
  19. The networks will probably play the "cinderella story" angle, the funny thing is that both of the teams are like that. Last nights game showed some real guts by the Wild. I was thinking that they might crumble under the 2 goal hole they were in but they really rose to the occasion. They really showed some guys last night, plus the fact that you know a number of players were playing hurt, Roli was hurting, Willie Mitchell, and Dupuis were all hurt and played through it. Props for the Wild Bring on the Ducks-- This should be a good one.
  20. I do think there are other ways to deal with the issue, simply kicking out those who don't get with the program should deal with it relatively quickly. If people start getting booted I would be willing to be the problem would get fixed. The only issue with that is that the security might get a little overboard and boot people who are standing during more appropriate times. To be honest moving seat also has the ability to screw over season ticket holders who chose to sit in those seats and are now being forced out. Moving really is a bad deal for everone. Enforcement may be a better way to go. IMO Trust me... I know the worlds not fair, just becuase I am finishing up college doesnt mean I have a job
  21. You'll pay the students 50 bucks if they sit? That may be crazy enough to work!!!
  22. They shouldnt. By moving them out of their seats they are.
  23. So am I Zachs best interests are to stick around UND until he wins a national championship.
  24. If there is a way to do so and no one gets blocked it is a compromise, and really I think that most students are OK with the status quo, while I would like to stand to my hearts content I understand why that is not a feasable idea. Federov makes a good point... In the spirit of compromise what are you going to give up? Nothing... If they move the student section people who chose those seats initailly will be moved. That is a loss for the season ticket holders. Not to mention the people in 111 what about the people in 110 who will be moved out, or have students place infront of them.. that doesnt "fix" anything The problem can be resolved by saying that any student who stands the entire game will be removed from the arena. If they come back the next game and do the same thing they surrender their tickets. I firmly believe that most students want to make sure that every one can see the game... we are not all little children and do have concepts of other people. As with society there are people who dont give a damn about others, and trust me many of those guys are a$$es to other students not just to some of the folks in 110. I dont think many would shed a tear if some of those guys got booted.
  25. Originally the senate was trying to push the compromise with a move still resulting in a loss of seats. Now they are fighting to keep the students where they want.
