Exhibition games, especially preseason, are usually for testing out lines, getting D-pairings set, trying out PP and PK groups in live game action, getting skaters and goalies that might not see much ice time some game action, etc. Which is exactly how Berry used it. There's no imagination needed to see any bigger picture. The team sure didn't look good against Augie, but there's no reason to dwell on a game that was played 4 days after the team's first official practice.

A split would sure make this weekend look a bit better. 4-3 sure feels a hell of a lot better than 3-4. Get it done boys. Guesses on lineup with all these injuries? OMac - Wilkie - Kunz James - Boisvert - Perron Swanson - Schmaltz - Strinden Andrew - Jammer - Littler Livanavage - MacDonald Jubenvill - Emery Monty - Wiebe Hobie That's every available skater that made the trip. The second line was our most effective last night, have to keep them together. Does Andrew get his first playing time at UND? I'd guess we'll be running three lines for most the night and that Jake/MacD/Emery/Wiebe get a boatload of ice time.

Exactly. The game doesn't count. We could have played the Russian National Team and lost 15-1 or we could have played the Hazen JV HS team and won 22-0. Either way, the game doesn't count.
-
For sure on both. My reasoning was just that if our record currently was 6-0 or 5-1 right now with a much easier schedule, it'd be sunshine and rainbows on here. We've played some great hockey against some really good teams...and we've also played some dog%^!@ hockey against some really good teams. If UND can enter the winter break at 13-6 (my guess looking at the schedule), then I think they set themselves up ok for both the PWR and the NCHC standings (not to win the league, but for sure home ice).

I show no loss to Augustana on the schedule.
-
We’re the only team in the league that has played a ranked team every week thus far. Flip our schedule with Denver’s and I bet both our and DUs record looks a bit different.
-
Somehow CC won an OT game without Laba scoring the GWG? It's crazy how dominant CC and UNO have been in 3x3 OT the last couple seasons.

https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/slow-start-dooms-und-in-loss-to-cornell Doesn't sound too promising. Boys need to dig deep for a gutsy win tomorrow.
-
They never are when UND plays them...we're their Stanley Cup Finals. Also saw that former UND recruit Randklev scored the lone goal.
-
Neither of them did. Wouldn't be surprised at all if both are out tomorrow.
-
Looks like Michigan had the same formula that we did. UND got the 5 goal 1st period. Michigan got the 5 goal 3rd period.
-
Pohlkamp with 2g/1a for DU tonight. Man, would have loved to see him in a UND uni this season. That's assuming he wouldn't be injured though...
-
+1 Hopefully Hobie can play well tomorrow, he earned the start with his play tonight. Boys need to capitalize on whatever chances they can get, because Cornell will limit those chances.
-
When it's not early in the season? We'll see how the boys respond tomorrow. To be honest, our schedule has been brutal, and we knew that coming in. Hopefully this tough start will help the boys down the road.

Cornell ENG
-
Needed more time in the tents. Damn it.
-
Time for Cornell to get a couple ENG to make the score look worse.
-
Seemed to do alright against Providence and Fri night BU game. UND unfortunately has already shown having issues scoring or even generating offense chances against defensive teams like MSUM and Cornell.
-
PK Not what we wanted for a comeback push.
-
James got one. Were you wanting a few more?
-
So our injured list is currently: Berg Zmolek Johnson Komzak Croal Strathmann
-
No, he is also injured. No joke. Didn't make the trip.
-
Assuming we have enough players to field a roster.
-
Agreed. I was merely stating what Brad posted on his chat. He's posted multiple times about UND players and coaches being mad about missed calls.
-
Sounds like refs swallowing the whistle on a few Cornell potential penalties.
