Yale didn't have any troubles scoring on the PP against Cornell. They scored 20sec into their first PP attempt.

Yes for sure. If it's just Zmolek that is out long-term, maybe they just stick with the crew we have now and hope that no other D longterm injuries come along during the rest of the season. We just seem to get into this scenario every year now with dmen. Even if it's not Laurila, I could see them bringing in another D at semester break if these injuries keep piling up.

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Seems reasonable to me. This is a reoccurring problem, seems easy enough to carry an extra D to help. Next season if no D leave, we’re at 9 anyway. -

Article on Monty moving back to D: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/dane-montgomery-picking-up-tips-on-defense-on-the-fly Maybe reading too much into that, but wonder if that has anything to do with the length of time that other injured Dmen will be out. -
https://www.collegehockeynews.com/players/career/Bennett-Zmolek/58028 Looks like he played 28 of 44 games his 1st season at Mankato (not sure how many of those missed games were due to injury though). Then missed his entire Soph season. Last season at UND he played 33 of 40 games. This season he's played one of 7. I love the way the kid plays the game, but it sure leads to him sustaining a ton of injuries.

The team could add another player, but they would have to enroll in school by a certain date in order to be eligible this semester. That's why the new goalie from the club team is eligible, because he was already enrolled at UND. If they added a player before semester break, then that player could start playing during the 2nd half of the season. UND has done that before (Siembida, etc).

Yep, good to hear that Berg is back but sucks for the d-corps having three out still. Monty dressing as a dman again. No timetables on returns for Zmolek, Strathmann, Croal, or Komzak in this article...that's probably not a good sign. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/cameron-berg-expected-to-return-to-lineup?fbclid=IwY2xjawGYvk1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHZrcXezQr7-aKMPkVid-H4Eeep5xh8r2MkHracHI3HAVWMoXPxKOPoEJ9Q_aem_nT2XArcMa7htbMvsIaF9dw Right?! He got in one game and then has been out the rest of the season. Need him back sooner rather than later...

Wouldn't be a surprise IMO. Probably saw the writing on the wall with us probably not losing any D players for next season, but adding Laurila.

At least a split against Cornell would have helped, for sure. Providence continues to win, which helps since we are their only loss. Can't afford slip-ups against RMU or BSU. A win or two against DU in the four we play against them would be big. -

Johnson out longterm with injury, so UND adds a new goalie to roster: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/with-kaleb-johnson-sidelined-longterm-und-adds-goalie-to-roster?fbclid=IwY2xjawGV56JleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHTcFH2VypR_8VbKUpidFc_PqhyDtDE169xg1ntPB8boDQBbTjosZ8rJ3dQ_aem_t-DMn5Cw9clobQeb-B94xQ He got called up from the club team! Sweet. -
NCHC opener for both teams. UMD coming off a bye week. UND coming off a brutal series out east. Both teams have 3-4 records entering this series, but UMD has played a weaker schedule. Two wins against Stonehill and one against UML. James and Shaugabay have 10 of the teams 21 goals. Pionk with 8 assists already from the blueline. This is a huge series for UND. Starts with figuring out if we can get any players back from injury. Getting Berg back (sounds likely) would be massive. Also, I'm really hoping that at least 1-2 of the injured dmen are able to make it back so that we're not forced to play a forward at D just to fill a roster spot. I'd hope to see Hobie to start on Friday and the boys can get him his first win of the 24/25 season.
-
Was hoping that Hobie would take the goalie reins with his chance tonight, but seems like both he and TJ let in some softies this weekend. Goalie battle is still alive...really hoping that one of them starts stringing together some good games in a row. Hopefully starting next weekend.
-
Ha! A game he'll want to forget, for sure.
-
That goal was all him. Despite a pretty horrid offensive team showing, Jammer, James, and Boisvert had their chances. Those three stood out more than the others.
-
That sounds pretty accurate. Some really good UND teams haven't swept UMD in Duluth. And DU is rolling teams right now, and making it look easy.
-
No worries man, hope your recovery goes ok. I've been there...dealt with kidney stones three times in my life so far. One of those things you wouldn't wish upon anyone. Take care!
