Wowzers, that was a hell of an effort from the Sioux in the 3rd period. I didn't see that coming at all after watching the first period and a half. Gopher fans were saying that UND didn't have the depth to match UMN...but UND dominated in the 3rd, when they should have been tired. Gopher fans were saying that UND only had one line that could score...but only two of the six goals were scored by the top line. GPL has crashed from the fail. And the unbelievable, but UND is now (for the time being) a #1 seed. Who saw that coming in Nov/Dec?? Crazy. Now finish off the logo in style and kick some Pio butt tomorrow.

Found this stat from the weekly men's hockey notes: That's a crazy win % in March. If UND could keep some of that success into April...

In this scenario, I think BC would walk out of the NE with no issues. West would be a showdown between UMD and UMN. That could be an awesome game at the X. East could be any team between Miami, BU, or DU imo. I would like that bracket for UND if it actually happened. Although we didn't have good luck last time we faced FSU in the 1st round, I like our chances to advance. Facing Michigan this year with the roles reversed as underdog would be a sweet revenge.

Mario is so unbelievably snake bit right now. When he missed that empty net goalie this past weekend by shooting it wide...that pretty much solidified it. Hopefully he scores a few timely goals in the playoffs to make up for it.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Bjugstad stayed for another year. Much like Nelson, they both could stand to gain a little strength before moving on to the next level.

No doubt. Before the season began, I seriously thought that CC was a contender for the WCHA title (and a good shot at a national title). For them not even to make the F5, let alone the national tourney is crazy.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe we played the Thurs night game, then the Fri night game that year. So we didn't have to play the Thurs night game and then follow that up with a game on Fri afternoon.

Wisconsin has been the best team all season and is going for back-to-back titles this year. While UMN was the #2 overall seed (UW was #1), it still would have been nice to see the ladies compete a bit more the last two games against UMN. Especially being that in both games, the SOG were very similar...seems that UND lost their goaltending when the playoffs hit. And UND was the only team to beat UMN this season on their home ice. Hopefully the Sioux can get it done next season, the last for the twins.

That's not the type of early goal you want to give up against a strong opponent...on the road...in the playoffs. Very weak goal.

Looks like we already have a couple candidates lined up for when Hakstol retires. Good to see, since evidently coaching an elite college hockey team is so easy.

I was more annoyed with his reasoning for Coach of the Year. Mitch, who played the last 1.5 years at SCSU before transferring to UND. He'll be eligible next Dec to play for the Sioux.

Last I heard he was going to school at UND waiting for next season, much like St. Clair.

Glad you liked them last year...and jealous that you'll be club level this year! I'm definitely bummed that I won't be able to go two years in a row, but I guess that's what happens being that I live in AZ now.

We can hope that a couple of underclassmen take to heart what Hextall said to the team over Xmas break...that leaving early was a mistake and he wishes he would have stayed. Hopefully guys like Kristo, MacWilliam, Knight, Dell, and Nelson listen to his advice.

Even if the Sioux make it in, they would potentially have a very tough matchup right out of the gate with UMN...a team that just destroyed them 6-0. They would need a huge bounce-back game in order to take them down. Go ladies!

I think BSU will be an "easier" opponent for UND...they probably have a better chance to sweep BSU than UW. I think UW could definitely have gone 3 games, with maybe even UW coming out with the series win. BSU will be a tough matchup regardless (it always is when you are working to end a team's season), but UW definitely has the higher-end skill players that can step up in a playoff series (especially with how well UW has been playing lately). BSU has a great goalie though, and the Sioux seem to always run into hot goalies at inopportune times. Hopefully the Sioux can close this one out in two!
