NORTH DAKOTA vs. Air Force - US HALL OF FAME GAME
brianvf replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
If he's out for the season, I wonder if he would apply for a medical waiver and come for a 5th year? I know it's early, but who knows. -
Throw the hats for Mark Mac!!
-
Wow, what a series for Mark Mac and LaDue. Simonson has looked great too, he could be tough to take out of the lineup now! Hope Drake is ok...
-
About half the posts in the Fire Hak thread talk like that, so take your pick.
-
SOG are 23-8 right now. Yowza.
-
A Sioux win leads to a quiet night on the forums. A loss would have erupted the Fire Hak thread for another 4-5 pages before midnight! Tough place to sweep, hope UND can come out tomorrow hungry for another W.
-
Haha. That's ridiculous. If Union doesn't reach the F4 for another 15 years, would you still want Bennett? What about the Yale coach? He has one title too! Maybe we should snag him!

It's hard to compare 90's/early 2000's to now IMO. Back in those days, you had a grand total of maybe 10 powerhouse schools that were dominant almost every year. It certainly isn't like that anymore. I don't think there's ever a set number mix of 4yr players and blue chippahs for an ideal team...the team mold is constantly evolving. What works one year may not work the next year. I don't think he was referring to Yale and Union's title runs as luck...there was no denying that both of those teams were playing very well when they got the title. I took his comment as meaning that they got lucky with the player mix on those particular teams...it's not like we are expecting Yale and Union to turn into powerhouse teams with multiple titles...could happen, but just not as likely. Every title team needs a bit of luck on their side (except for maybe the Hrkac Circus...they were going to win regardless). Like Frattin's senior year Sioux team...that team was going to win the title. No doubt in my mind. But they sure didn't get any puck luck in that semifinal against Michigan. Sometimes the luck just isn't there to back up the talent.

Nice weekend for UW.

Season saved. All rejoice in Hakstol and the team. National title run can now commence as usual.

How many times will you ask the same questions over and over again? Simple question.
-
I prefer Fairbanks and Anchorage, so I'll just keep going with that.

UND sweeps Mankato on the road. Check out that box score: http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1415/boxes/wmnsndk1.o11 Outshot them 49-9 but win in a squeaker...2-1.
-
Blais would never lose a 2 goal lead. Alaska Fairbanks seems to have started the year well.
-
Sandelin has been head coach at UMD for 14 years...this is his 15th. Of the 14 seasons, UMD has been .500 or below for 8 of those seasons. You really think the rabid UND faithful would be happy with every other season being a losing one? If you're getting a new head coach, at least replace him with someone with a decent track record of putting winning teams on the ice consistently.
-
Simple question.
-
UND could lose every single game of the year until the NCHC playoffs and then run the table from there through the NCAA's. Easy enough! Can you imagine the emotional roller coaster of ss.com if that were to happen!

Crazy night for hockey. A lot of traditional powers getting taken out by lower-ranked teams. Eichel appears to be quite good, as expected. 2g/2a for him tonight in a 8-1 win.
-
So, if St. Clair plays, this game turns into a UND win? While I would assume we'll see St. Clair tomorrow night (among a few roster changes I would guess), Hakstol's selections for the roster tonight wouldn't be what I would call "outcoached". It was the first game of the season...all the coaching staff had to go off of was the exhibition win, which is a small sample size and showed a performance where most players brought a good intensity level (against subpar competition).
-
How so? Please explain. You can't coach effort.
-
Go Miami, WMU, and UNO. Let's not dig a OOC record hole for the NCHC right off the bat...

Good article on Hakstol in the Herald: http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/und-mens-hockey-understanding-hakstol I didn't know this before:
