Bryn and his Bat Signal are on the case. -

That'd be my thought as well. We just have to hope that a couple of their studs aren't committed yet. Seems that most of them have already picked their eastern NCAA team by the time they play UND. -

Probably because Michigan would require that all games be held in MI, there's no way that they would return the favor and come to ND. -

Only one series against WMU and DU. Have to take care of business against those NC opponents, a loss or two could really tank the PWR. -
UND is keeping that Ottawa team chugging along.

Nice comeback win for the ND boys. In the committed recruits thread…you think we’ll flip Mattern from ASU?

CCM, teaser vid is posted in the 25/26 season thread.

This is a pretty good indication of NCAA vs WHL skill differences for mid-tier players. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/535614/alex-weiermair 1.5 seasons at DU. 6pts in 24 games in first year, then 2pts in year 2 before he leaves after 9 games (this past season) and moves to WHL. Goes to the Winterhawks where he puts up 21-25--46 in 41 games. Same team as Zakreski...Zakreski is at 1.06ppg while Weiermair is at 1.12ppg. He's back in the portal now looking for a new team.

While none of them would be what most consider "blue chippers" aka 1st rounders...the good news is that most of them should be 3-4 yr players. And once they become upperclassmen, hopefully they can dominate the league.

From this, I think he'll fit in just fine. Looking at what this team has right now for a lineup. I don't think UND is going to blow anybody out with scoring, for sure. But the groundwork is there for a very solid team that relies on great defense/goaltending and hopefully transitions quicker to get the forwards some chances.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Yes, even if Homer is the main starter and then turns pro after this upcoming season, you have to think a goalie tandem of Spunar & Heil should be "the guys" for the next 3-4 seasons. -
Zellers is up for USHL POTY too. Add a guy like Zakreski who looks like a typical Sioux guy (grit, skill) plus can score...looks to be a very good incoming FR class, for sure. Wonder if we'll see a goalie tandem situation or if Homer will be the guy?

Frickin' Kolanos, man.

Wonder how much NIL $ they're getting?

If he's hoping to go somewhere and start, he's going to think WCHA or AHA would be my guess. His numbers haven't been exactly amazing in his two seasons. -

I'm guessing that they are assuming Homer will only play one season at UND even though he has two years of eligibility left? Unless all three goalies (Homer, Spunar, and Heil) are ok fighting for the job in 26/27. Forwards (12): SR - Strinden, James, Rickwood JR - Menghini SO - Swanson, Littler, Croal, Andrew FR - Zellers, Klee, Zakreski, Kernan Defense (7): SR - JR - Zmolek, Livanavage, Wiebe SO - Emery, Strathmann, Jubenvill FR - Laurila Goalies (3): SR - Sandy (RS possibility) JR - Homer SO - FR - Spunar Other current committed recruits that could come in this fall: D - Lindberg, F - O'Neill, Schultz, Simpson -

UND plays at Clarkson for a series this upcoming season too. That should be fun for him. Seems like a solid pickup. Still hoping for 1 or 2 high end CHL players to light the lamp.

UND has 2 portal players so far this year. The lowest in the NCHC aside from DU and UNO. And of the three players in the quote you mentioned, McMorrow isn't a portal player. At this point, the portal is a requirement to stay relevant in the current age of NCAA hockey. If your team doesn't utilize the portal (and now, moving forward, the CHL), the team will get left behind.
