Yeah, let's get the Shegos crew for the weekend. He is a Michigan alum who Miami fans hate because of his multitude of nitpicky calls against them (he's our Shepherd to them). That would put me on the floor laughing.

I think this team has a long ways to go, and I was already thinking this before last week's St. Cloud series...but it seems like an opportune time now that we are on a 3 game losing streak. We've looked pretty good at times, but have little in the way of consistency. We've swept two series, Merrimack (picked to finish 10th in Hockey East) and Michigan Tech (picked to be last in the WCHA). Now, Merrimack has been a surpise so far in Hockey East, but they are still Merrimack. They'll be a bottom half team by the end of the season. Michigan Tech just isn't a good team. We failed to sweep Minnesota and St. Cloud, and now lost two both games against a very good team in Denver. The Sioux have a great team, but there's a ways to go yet. Eids has looked great in my eyes (not in some others) and we have some great freshmen. However, besides Chay Genoway, the older leaders haven't led like they should in the way of just getting the puck in the net on a consistent basis. Scoring will be a problem all year I have a feeling, especially until Chay gets back. To give up only four goals all weekend, and all on the PP, is a good sign, but to lose both because we ourselves can't score...that is a bad sign. Time to turn it around and beat a couple CCHA teams for Pairwise purposes...the Miami game will have huge implications. On a more positive side, I think this team has championship pieces in place. All our scoring guys won't go anywhere but up, and if our defense continues to stay stout, I wouldn't want to place us. I actually haven't felt as good about a team's chances since 06-07.

I love all the lines. The third might have its struggles without a proven puck mover, but if they grind it out like they're supposed to, we'll be good to go.

I pick the good guys to lose one and all of a sudden I'm a negative Nelly...

OK...I've been wondering for too long, so I'll just ask. Is this a charity thing or something? Does the money go to a program or fund or scholarship? Or, is this just a way to mooch some profits off of the Sioux name? Not trying to be harsh...but I didn't see much of an explanation on the matter.

Not too surprising, but Brad confirmed that Chay won't make the trip (per Hak). Fienhage will, again, get the go for the weekend. I think this is mostly precautionary, and I'm more glad than disappointed to know Chay will get more time to rest. Part of me wishes he was on the plane though...it'd be nice to know we'd have his help because without him, it might be a long weekend. 2 points works for me this weekend....nothing gained but nothing lost on DU if so.

I doubt Genoway plays. Hakstol & Co. never seem to rush anyone back if they don't deem it ok for the player's health. I think Big Joe could have played much sooner last year than he did, but they didn't want to potentially kill Joe's longterm health or career over it.

I hope the series is decided on a fist fight between Hak and that pussy Badger Gwoz. That would guarantee us 4 points.

To all those saying we would have seen a fight with Marvin, or will see fighting anyways....guess again. The players know better than to take themselves out of a Friday night game against Denver, especially with Genoway already potentially out. I'm sure we'll see a bunch of big hits, some jawing, and a few facewashes, but I doubt anyone would try and drop the gloves.

Kozek's was right around there as well. Maybe a touch more.

The second best fans ever were the Canadian fans at the World Curling Championships.

I've heard stories about how a lot of fans who have tickets for Duke games don't even show up for lesser opponents. I know a guy who was in NC for a trip, saw the Duke game on tv that just started, noticed there were empty seats and went over to the arena. Tickets were sold out, but a security guy gave him tickets for free because no one would use them. A lot of these programs have more national interest than they do locally. UCLA has to contend with a lot of other basketball programs in the area. Two NBA teams and a bunch of other colleges.

Goldy is Ms. Goldy, isn't she? I can't see a male having the name Goldy. Ann was good practice for many a men.
