  1. Boy, that sounded too close for comfort..
  2. Been awhile since I've been able to partake in a game day thread...can't wait...Go Sioux!
  3. Vande Velde Trupp
  4. Because they aren't home games.
  5. He and his family made that decision to stay closer to home. I'm glad the decision was made, though.
  6. Quit dragging what out? A decision on Chay and if he'll play or not? Hmmm...maybe the team has to "drag it out" because if he is deemed capable of playing, even if it's only for the last game of the year, he won't get his medical hardship and his career would be over.
  7. PLEASE... I know it is your jersey and you can throw it in a fire if you really want to, but please DO NOT get your game-worn jersey signed. It's one of the worst things you can do to a game-worn jersey. What WOULD be a good idea, if possible, is to get a picture of the player wearing the jersey in action signed, thus not wrecking your game-worn piece.
  8. Well, seeing as there is no Mt. Everest with a "North Face" anywhere around GF, I decided to post this: Whistling Straits is a golf course, but the logo is sweet.
  9. Depends on what you get. There are Reebok Premier jerseys (consumer-friendly) and Reebok Edge (authentic...same the players wear). Some fakes ARE relatively well made for a very cheap price. Every counterfeit item aims for this, otherwise they'd be just as expensive. But, there are costs tied with making the name brand stuff versus the counterfeit products. There is research to pay for to design the jerseys, licensing, a company full of employees to pay for, marketing, advertising, etc. All the counterfeits do is have to pay for the materials and insanely cheap sweat shop labor and then steal everything else that relates to higher costs. The Premier jersey is likely what you are referring to being "cheaply made". And no, counterfeits won't change how these products are priced. Counterfeit products have been around for awhile now, and nothing has changed in any "genre" of consumer products...whether it's jerseys, shoes, purses, sunglasses, etc. The only thing that has had SOME impact related to how much we pay for the real deal is DVD's/CD's (but not much). But anyways, the Premier jerseys are not cheap, but much less expensive than the authentic's, coming in at 1/3 of the price, which is fair in my opinion. Like I said, there are reasons these items are priced the way they are. T-shirts run $20-25 (or more) now for anything name brand. There is obviously much more to a jersey (even the less expensive Premier) than a t-shirt...but how much more? They sell t-shirts with player names and numbers, so you have to price the jerseys accordingly thereafter in relation to those prices and the costs of manufacturing the products themselves. Save your money, spend a little bit more, and get the real thing. In my opinion, not only are the counterfeiters extremely selfish for selling these items wrongly and illegally, but the people who buy from them are equally selfish.
  10. So, would that have turned the "DOT Line" into the "Soo Line" ?
  11. This topic should really be locked and deleted by Jim or another mod. We might as well have a topic about drug usage/purchasing in the forums as well. I really hope no one purchases these from this thread alone.
  12. They are not legit, plain and simple. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. All the products on the site are illegal counterfeits.
  13. It's a totally different situation. There are no legal issues with what many others have sold on here as "custom" Sioux jerseys. You can look at what the University of North Dakota deems their own property, and none of it infringes upon it. I once created a thread about having some custom vintage t-shirts made with some logos that didn't infringe upon any of UND's rights, but they immediately expressed their concerns about the thread with Jim and were keeping a close eye on what happened. Obviously they would do the same for the others selling the custom jerseys, if they were, in fact, "counterfeit". Also, they aren't stitching Reebok/Nike/CCM logos on them illegally, nor are the jerseys available through any other manufacturer, which is a factor as well.
  14. The one thing that makes me slightly "ok" with buying the green Toews Hawks jersey is the fact that Reebok never actually made that jersey so it'd be impossible to get without getting a counterfeit. However, it's still an illegal fake, and yes, I also have heard that counterfeit products can, and will, support terrorist groups. I heard the same thing when I was in my shoe collection days (Air Jordans, etc..). Just PLEASE DO NOT buy those things. Even if it was fine to buy fakes, those fonts and whatnot are so off it's borderline hilarious.
  15. We could use his mouth as well... Instead, we could just wire up a cattle prod into Fienhage's stick with C-Batteries lining the entire stick, and everytime Marvin gets near someone give him a jolt.
  16. My idea from the beginning (other than keeping Sioux) is to sell the rights to our name. North Dakota Coca-Cola's North Dakota Dodge Rams North Dakota Waste Managements North Dakota Jim Beams Just think, instead of us paying to keep a nickname, we'd get paid to wear one.
  17. I don't think we'd ever change the colors. If you look at anyone else who has had similar nickname issues, all have retained their former colors to my knowledge...that is something that will likely be forever bound to the university (until colorblind people have an uproar about school colors being discriminative towards them and we all have to be black or white, which will then lead to African-Americans calling the schools racist, so then every school will be gray, no one will know who is who, and everyone is a winner). How bout for the sundogs logo, we modify it so that Spuds McKenzie is crossed with a Pink Floyd emblem?
  18. As a jersey collector myself, DO NOT BUY THESE! These are counterfeits. To my knowledge, Reebok never even made an authentic version of the St. Patty's Day jersey. There are a number of legitimate reasons not to buy counterfeit/fake products, and I've been vocal about this before, so just DO NOT waste your money. Save up some cash and get a product from the original company.
  19. Hambone, I can't say I agree with you on Sundogs...all I can think of is a Spuds McKenzie commercial. And your comment on "dispatching" Flickertails is a big reason against the nickname (those ain't no "Fightin" Flickertails). And for those who are wondering who Spuds McKenzie is, here's a picture of the "Party Animal":
  20. Yeah...I have enough to wear a different one every day of the month (literally), so I'm set to go as well. I really want to wear them in front of Fighting Sioux teams, though, and not the Cavalry, Rough Riders, Sundogs, Flickertails, etc... For whatever reason, Flickertails is growing on me. It's a former nickname of the university, and it's unique to only us. No, it's not fierce, and yes, a flickertail is too similar to a Gopher for even my liking, but for the stated reasons, it's worth considering in my book. I'm not saying we SHOULD be the Flickertails, only that it isn't as disgusting sounding now as it originally did.
  21. I'd say if Hak and Larry Bird had a baby...

    Who Dat

I don't care who wins the Super Bowl unless it's the Packers, Vikings (hoping not), or Bears (hoping not again, 1 is enough). All I cared about this year was worrying how much I have to hear "WHO DAT"....when is someone going to teach people of the south some grammar (along with their southern etiquette)? You'd think a whole state was made up of people named "Lil Jon".
  23. I think another name that would be on a short list that Minnesota would try to acquire is Enrico Blasi of Miami. Blasi has taken Miami's team to prominence and they are destined to win something sooner rather than later thanks to him. Add to that the fact that Joel Maturi (Minnesota's Athletic Director) is a former AD at Miami. Blasi might come at a cheaper price than Blais, as well, and would be nearly as good as Blais (in my opinion). Also, Blais is older and could retire again just as soon as he got back into the swing of things at a big time program. Does Minnesota want that risk? I'm not sure Enrico Blasi is ready to jump ship from Miami, though. "Rico" is a Miami hockey alum with a nice, new arena (despite the smallish capacity) and already has a good foundation built and a pretty decent salary to boot. Only time will tell I guess...but let's not write off Lucia just yet. Don is a very good coach who has had a little hard luck with recruits/defections/injuries/health. He has made every team he's been at better, but is in swoon right now. Minnesota is too big of a name to not get the traction back in their wheels and ride a wave back to the top sometime in the next few years, even with Lucia. We can say that Lucia only won titles because of Woog's recruits (which is actually highly debatable), but even Woog couldn't win a title with his own recruits, so maybe there is something to Lucia some Sioux fans won't admit.
  24. When it rains, he pours...
  25. This is one thing I CAN agree with. I'm not a daily ref-basher around here, and as inconsistent as the WCHA refs are, throughout the course of a season everyone gets their breaks and their bad luck. However, the fact that they continually allow what you describe, Goon, is the problem. Even if they call it very fairly in terms of what they call a penalty and what they don't, it still makes things tougher for the guys with a lot more skill. However, with that said, you still don't see Mankato's, and UAA's winning the conference title. You still see the best teams regularly fighting for that position. About the goals beind down...yes, the goals are down. But, how much of that is the way teams recruit in the WCHA now-days thanks to the reffing issues? I'm not saying no one recruits top-tier players, but many teams, including the bottom-halfers of the league recruit the grinders that will wear down the better teams in hopes of keeping it close and having a better chance at winning. Look at the way UND recruits, it's a mix of offensive and defensive-minded forwards, not just all skill guys. I think if the league reffing changed for the better, you'd see goals go up again. Also, I probably should have stated that teams score 5-6 goals regularly instead of 6-7, but that's my mistake. With Saturday and Sunday's games left, there were already 5 teams to score 6 or more goals in the country, and 13 teams to score 5 or more goals. Those guys can score with the same pads that we can't score on. The term "reguarly" can be interpreted differently between each individual who reads what I wrote, but what I mean is that many teams can score a decent amount of goals enough to not consider them a rarity. If a team plays 5 games, and they score 1 goal one game, 3 goals in two of those games, 4 goals one, and 5 goals another, that's a good amount of goals that averages out to be 3.2 goals/game, which would only be 5th best in conference (all games considered). If UND averaged 3.2 goals/game, we'd have a very different standing in the WCHA and the NCAA (PWR). The pads aren't the problem, it's the skill level...whether it's bad offensive skill for us, or great defensive and goaltending skill from our opponents, or a combination of both.
