It's 4am, just got done watching the game (had to work all night)... One word ---> WOW! A win would have been awesome, but I'll take one point and run after tonight. Not saying the Sioux played bad, but the game literally could have gone either way. It was actually a pleasure to watch a decent hockey game between these two again (but if the Sioux want to stick it to the Gophs anytime soon, I'm all for it as well ) The series is over, all focus goes to Alaska...let's bring it again, no weekends off at all this year.

COMMITED SIOUX RECRUITS - 2009-10 Updates, Stats and News
Big A HG replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Michael Parks, who is playing for Cedar Rapids (USHL), has a video interview on the RoughRider website if you want to check it out. Click for Michael Parks Interview Nolan Zajac also plays on the team. He's not a committed recruit, and may not be a recruit at all, but I'll post the link to his as well. Click for Nolan Zajac Interview Cedar Rapids will be playing in Green Bay Tuesday, which is an hour from me, so I might go check these guys out. Sam Alfieri (Shattuck product, who I don't think has committed anywhere...but who I thought was highly sought after), and Anders Lee (of Edina, Notre Dame commit) play for Green Bay, among some other less noticeable D1 college commits. Parks has played well through 5 pre-season games, tallying 4 goals (leads team) and 3 assists (tied for team lead) for 7 total points (leads team). -
You have better odds of winning the PowerBall 1,000,000 times than seeing Penn State run out onto the field at the Alerus.

"Bouncing puck and a goooooooooooooooooooooooal!!!!!!!!!" Makes me smile every time.

Noticed that as well. I didn't think Cannata played as bad as the score indicated....the Sioux just pummeled the team to 5 scores. Let's see if the new guy can make the big saves when needed. Shocked to not see Dell in the game.

Barnes & Noble (or whatever it is now....) had them for 75% off for a long time, which put them at $5 a copy. Last I knew, they still had some. And yes, referring to the 75 years book.

He's got my blessings.....hope all works out for the best.

I am stoked for game day. This is the real thing today, so not let downs. Play every shift as if it's your last. Our lineup is too deep to take a day off...so, play without heart, and watch your spot be taken by someone else. I have to work tonight, but thank the Lord for FCS. Game is set to record, so no text updates please!

Yes, Finely did struggle at times, but here's my take (leaving Genoway out of the conversation). Finley did struggle his first two years, but he was recruited by us and drafted by Washington as a good, not great kid, with huge size and huge upside, despite being very raw. He needed time to develop, and having him take a year or two to do it was probably needed. However, by the start of his junior year, he was a bit underdeveloped by our standards. But, sometime during his junior season, Joe started playing very good. He ultimately finished the year with an awesome +/-, leading the team (maybe the WCHA?...can't remember off-hand). Then, his senior year, he was unfairly criticized after missing much of the season after his serious concussion the first weekend of the year. So, Joe was taking steps, albeit baby steps, but by his junior year he was playing pretty darn good (it was too late by then, for any mistake no matter how minute, would be unfairly critiqued in the worst way). Then the unfortunate injury knocked him back a couple steps and couldn't gain the trust of any Sioux fans that senior year. Fienhage, like others have said, played very little last year, but even worse, he hardly played the whole second half of the season, so he REALLY will be rusty when it comes to game shape. Even the incoming freshman have played [many more] games than Fienhage going back to the beginning of 2009. So, essentially, Fienhage may be a step or two behind even the freshmen despite having a year to practice with the team every day.

Yeah, he should be your new favorite player

They're different than what we're used to, but every home Sioux uni except for the previous style had green home numbers. Personally, I like both ways.
-
I can agree with that....maybe mix-in a D-man in place of Gregoire because I think a few of the guys played really well for most of the game.
-
Half, I believe it's his mom who is from there....so he's got the blood, mix that with a nice flavor of Canadian defense and...well...you understand.
-
Don't rile up that Aussie MacWilliam....
-
-LaPoint looks really good. -Kristo is speedy and you can tell he has the skill -MacWilliam played real well after his first shift -Genoway has been quiet -Had a few good opportunities...didn't take advantage Let's hope they start clicking in the 2nd

Can't wait for FCS to get on the air! It's hockey season baby!

Haha, that's awesome. I named my dog Hobey a couple years ago FWIW.

Murphy wins! Thank the Lord for this one. Many more steps to go now. 1) SBOHE extends the deadline tomorrow 2) Murphy allows a Standing Rock vote like he had said. 3) Standing Rock votes in favor of the nickname 4) Murphy & Co. give Tribal support for the nickname 5) SBoHE doesn't dismiss the tribal approval and agrees to keep the nickname I think steps 1 and 5 are the biggest. Our biggest road block is the SBoHE itself now, IMO.
