  1. #1 Miami is also down 2-0 to Michigan State after 2.
  2. Looks like you covered everything...
  3. I think it was a rumor that was merely brought up because of the coincidental last name he shares with the Lamoureux family of GF.
  4. He's a popular, former athletic director of the University. He's well known and has a little power around there, which is why he was able to pull off the cheers so easily with his signs. Our old people like to sit on their hands....it's a social status thing in GF for them to say they were at the games. For all the people that are complaining about vulgar cheers, why don't you try and do something to change that when you go to the Ralph next time. Can the vulgar chant issue be compared to the Sioux nickname issue (there's a vocal minority against it)?
  5. I'm not gonna argue for or against some of these chants, but I will say one thing. 4 years ago, The Ralph was much quieter as a whole than it is today. Each of the past years since, it has gotten louder and louder, with some of the chants and jeers vulgar, some not. Either way, our home record seems to continually get better each season, with a very long home unbeaten streak still alive. Coincidence? Maybe... Food for thought.
  6. Eids is our man. He's still only 4 games into his sophomore year and already has a WCHA banner under his name. He may not be perfect, but he's still really young with some good junior and collegiate credentials so far. Brad will get better and each mistake he makes he learns from. Last year, he struggled with rebounds, but the 2nd half of the season he really got pretty good at that overall. I think he, and the coaches, know his weak spots and they will iron out the wrinkles. If Dell can be just as good or better, great...but it's not worth losing a bunch of games over to find out. Especially when Brad has proven he can handle the load. I still hold to my predicion of 4-6 games for Dell this year. I'll lean towards 6 right now if he either shines in his first performances or Brad falters big time. Otherwise, I'm leaning more towards 4.
  7. It's kind of funny you mention DLP. Before his injury last year, although pretty solid, he had his times where people thought "what the heck is he doing?" It's mostly his skating that hindered him, IMO. Some even said he had "two left feet." Well, I think the injury to his right leg fixed that....I think they turned those two left feet into a left foot and a right foot, and this year, he's been great. He seems faster, smoother, smarter, and overall a lot better. Last year he wasn't that bad, he just wasn't awesome. By the end of the year, Derrick will be a defensive leader. Do I think he'll leave though? No. I've met Derrick a few times through where I worked in GF and he doesn't seem like the type of kid to leave if he doesn't feel ready. Another year of bulking up will make him more pro-ready after his senior year, and next year's team will be a real title contender.
  8. Get over it, baby... "Swine" flu, which it's actually not...it's closer to a Spanish Flu...is not even worse than a normal flu. It's media propaganda. A few people die from it, but thousands die each year from the regular flu. Wow
  9. I missed 5, and can't say I'm diapppointed in not thinking of any of them except one. I was reaching into the depths of my mind to think of who I couldn't think of in the college world.
  10. Since we don't have an NHL thread, and there isn't enough info out there to deem one necessary for this forum, I'll post this here. According to ESPN.com, Quebec City is planning a $400 million dollar arena to attract a new NHL team to the city. The Nordiques left there in 1995 to form the Colorado Avalanche. The city hopes the arena will start construction in 2010 and be completed in 2012. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4564924 John Buccigross, an NHL columnist for ESPN, took part in an article where he and a couple others gave their opinion on how they would reshape the NHL to bring it back to prominence. Bucci is a smart guy, and was actually the only one that said the NHL would make for a better audience by adding teams to form about a 40 team NHL. I think his idea would be similar to having slightly smaller arenas in more markets to generate demand and draw fans in by creating buzz....like how Grand Forks can continually sell out 12,000 in a tiny market. Granted, it's all GF really has for a major sports team while many other markets aren't largely into hockey like here, but I can see where Buccigross stands. Most of the new markets would be created in places that left for more southern locales in the 90s...places like Winnipeg.
  11. Agreed. UAA hasn't played all that well so far, but they will be amped up to begin WCHA play, and seem to always play us tough, especially up in AK. Either way, we have way more talent, and the only way we lose is if we take a game off. I hope there are no letdowns after this weekend and having to make the long trip northwest. I hate saying that we will sweep like there's no challenge behind it, but this team seems different than ones of years past...in a good way. I think we will take care of business behind good leadership. Both games will be tough. One we will pull away, the other will remain close, but we'll pull it out. Kristo will break the jinx and net 3 over the weekend. His speed and skill will nullify the size of Anchorage.
  12. Oshie also tallied his first of the year, combining that with an assist in a 5-0 Blues win over Anaheim. Drew Stafford lit the lamp for a 2nd time this year over Atlanta, with the Sabres falling to the Thrashers 4-2. Parise finished the game with that empty net goal mentioned previously, but also added an assist. Zajac assisted on Parise's empty netter for his lone point of the night. Devils took care of Carolina in a 2-0 victory. On the scoreless list of UND alumni playing forward tonight: Ryan Johnson, who won 5 of 7 faceoffs, didn't add any points in a 2-1 Vancouver win over the not-so-wild Wild from Minnesota. And, Jason Blake, not to be left out, didn't get on the score sheet in a 4-1 Toronto loss to the Tex's Rangers of New York. Overall, a pretty good night for former Sioux fowards, who totaled 4 goals, 4 assists, for 8 points (of the 7 forwards in action). I hope I didn't miss anyone.
  13. According to Brad's Twitter feed, Stepane da Costa, who was inelgible for Merrimack last week, scored 5 goals tonight. Brad didn't list the opponent, but they played Army. Army is no college hockey stud by any means, but 5 goals against any D1 opponent is pretty impressive. He may have been a difference maker last Saturday.
  14. It's 4am, just got done watching the game (had to work all night)... One word ---> WOW! A win would have been awesome, but I'll take one point and run after tonight. Not saying the Sioux played bad, but the game literally could have gone either way. It was actually a pleasure to watch a decent hockey game between these two again (but if the Sioux want to stick it to the Gophs anytime soon, I'm all for it as well ) The series is over, all focus goes to Alaska...let's bring it again, no weekends off at all this year.
  15. I wonder who's better.....Mack or PC
  16. This. The money is going to be split 12 ways instead of 10.
  17. Michael Parks, who is playing for Cedar Rapids (USHL), has a video interview on the RoughRider website if you want to check it out. Click for Michael Parks Interview Nolan Zajac also plays on the team. He's not a committed recruit, and may not be a recruit at all, but I'll post the link to his as well. Click for Nolan Zajac Interview Cedar Rapids will be playing in Green Bay Tuesday, which is an hour from me, so I might go check these guys out. Sam Alfieri (Shattuck product, who I don't think has committed anywhere...but who I thought was highly sought after), and Anders Lee (of Edina, Notre Dame commit) play for Green Bay, among some other less noticeable D1 college commits. Parks has played well through 5 pre-season games, tallying 4 goals (leads team) and 3 assists (tied for team lead) for 7 total points (leads team).
  18. You have better odds of winning the PowerBall 1,000,000 times than seeing Penn State run out onto the field at the Alerus.
  19. "Bouncing puck and a goooooooooooooooooooooooal!!!!!!!!!" Makes me smile every time.
  20. Noticed that as well. I didn't think Cannata played as bad as the score indicated....the Sioux just pummeled the team to 5 scores. Let's see if the new guy can make the big saves when needed. Shocked to not see Dell in the game.
  21. Barnes & Noble (or whatever it is now....) had them for 75% off for a long time, which put them at $5 a copy. Last I knew, they still had some. And yes, referring to the 75 years book.
  22. He's got my blessings.....hope all works out for the best.
