  1. ah, got it. although all our ss.com experts seem to think he would delay a year? it might be an indication as to if vandy is back (or not back i should say) too.
  2. was there a question as to if he would fulfill his commitment to und?
  3. i would love to see vandy back wearing a letter as a senior, but the chances of that are slim i think. the oilers were after him hard last offseason, and no doubt will be this year also. the oilers need a big, physical center, and that is exactly what vandy is. he may not step right in at the nhl level, but that doesn't mean the oilers won't offer him big money to see what they have.
  4. i hear ya, this balanced scoring attack has to be tough to gameplan against for the opposition. the other question mark was goaltending, and i think eidsness has answered the call there.
  5. duncs is the man!!! plain and simple. he is the epitome of sioux hockey. guys like him don't come around very often. took my son to his first sioux game tonight, not a bad first experience, pretty sure he is a sioux fan for life now! my daughter has been to a few games with us this year and LOVES it (now anytime she sees my wife or i wearing sioux gear, she says, are we going to the hockey game daddy ). thanks to the seniors for four great years, the senior skate and video was AWESOME! lets finish what they started four years ago with a national title in DC!!
  6. RR won in overtime on a wobbly shot that got past the South goalie (screened maybe?). Should be a good championship tomorrow... RR has been there alot, but BHS has a very solid team this year, I think goaltending is their only question, so we'll see if RR can exploit that. Third place game with Central and South should be a great game also.
  7. Bismarck was a much better team than Central... first time in a while a west team is in the finals. South is a better team than RR, but neither team getting any good scoring opportunities so could go either way. I think South is the better team overall, so I'm sure BHS fans are cheering on the Riders tonight. Either way, it should be a good final tomorrow night.
  8. i don't like lucia, but he won't lose his job, at least not this year. you would think two national titles have given him the leeway to have one off season. that being said, yes blais played for the goofs, and given the opportunity (and big enough contract), he may think about it, but i think he likes his team in fargo, especially since he has alot of control.
  9. cc is a good team, great goalie who can steal a game but can also be beat. plain and simple, sioux are the better team right now, and it's at home, best home ice advantage in the wcha (unless you count the trip up to anchorage as home ice advantage ). unless bachman steals a point or two for the tigers with a stand on his head performance, sioux sweep at home. 4-2 saturday with an empty netter and 4-3 sunday! LETS GO SIOUX!!!
  10. i'll assume you meant on that shot only if not you apparently missed his two seasons here at und. here's a little reminder. dang he's good. http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlg=200...mp;event=T.B629 marto was slow once this season too everyone has a bad shift or two
  11. i notice they are predicting a certain wcha team with a hostile and abusive rodent mascot didn't make their 4X4 this week.
  12. WDA day 1 finals... Bismarck 7, Dickinson 1 Bismarck Century 3, Mandan 0 Williston 5, Bottineau 3 Minot 6, Hazen/Beulah 4 EDC day 1 finals... Fargo South 5, Fargo Shanley 2 GPR 8, West Fargo 1 Central 11, Devils Lake 1 GF Red River 3, Fargo North 0 (not sure if it is final yet?) looks like the higher seeds all win and advance to the winners bracket.
  13. the osh scored in another blues loss... they are horrible, although may win the tavares trophy this season they have alot of good young talent... i think they could be a playoff team in a year or two. the offensive juggernaut that is matt green has an assist in the kings only goal so far...
  14. i guess you just trust the coaches know what they are doing. like someone stated, there are top notch players in the bchl, ajhl, and ushl. what's the reason there are no current bchl recruits and so many ajhl? no knowing that, but it seems to me that our coaches know talent, reguardless of league. imo, the ushl better prepares the younger players on both ends of the ice, whereas the canadian leagues are much more offensive, but good players adjust to their league and rise to the top. not many step into the wcha as a frosh (especially the first half) and make an immediate impact, although murray, parise, stafford, osh, toews and duncs seem to have bucked the trend lately. usually by the second half of the freshman year you can tell if the player is adjusting to the size and speed of the game (i thought trupp and frats came on late last season), and our freshman class this year has adjusted very well. lets hope the trend of incoming classes continues to be this good. all this being said, i think it takes MINIMUM one year for a dman to adjust in the wcha. i think marto has improved immensely over the past year and a half, as lapoint was starting to before his unfortunate accident. we will be young next season on the blueline, i hope chay sticks around.
  15. Fienhage may be green as you say, but I was impressed the few times I have seen him. He is a big, stay at home dman with decent footwork. It is not his fault that we have 8 dmen now as Finley is back and they kept Miller back on the blueline. He was a highly touted defensive dman who will be an integral part of Sioux teams for the next few years, so I don't see him getting playing time as a bad thing. The only way to get game experience is be allowed chances to play in games, so from that side of it, I hope Jonesey is back and both Blood and Fienhage play this weekend.
  16. nick mattson scored against cc tonight as the us under 18 team beat them 3-2. possible (although not likely) recruit morin had a goal and assist.
  17. i think you have genoway, miller and marto running the point for sure... also martens logged alot of pp time on the point. i love big joe... not sure if the pp is his strong suit.
  18. probably just saying what a captain needs to say standing up for a teammate even though it won't happen. we got four huge points this weekend, and need four more next weekend!
  19. i think it was a pretty blatent elbow that gave lusheah the concussion, not a cfb, but yes to both of your guys' points... he is a good player, and he is displaying a disturbing pattern of dirty play recently.
  20. agree with most of your points here, but finley did say that he would like to collect on the check bruess cashed this weekend in the postgame with th (or something to that effect). problem is we won't see the purple cows again unless it's in the playoffs, and i doubt finley will risk a game suspension in the playoffs his senior year.
  21. i guess the levity of the statement didn't come across the way i meant it... i realize he rarely scores, which is why i made the statement. but hey we are 13-0 (or something like that) over the last three years when he does score
  22. what i didn't understand is he goes all jonesy rage blackout trying to fight the ar to get at zajac, then goes through the handshake line with a smile and shake the coaches hand? im sure he was frustrated the rest of his team didn't help him out this weekend, but the stick crap like that has no place... and i highly doubt there will be any noise from the wcha or additional suspension. i'm sure they already have a press release typed up saying they are satisfied with how msum handled the situation, and there will be no further action. on another note, about the penalty discrepancy, if the worse team is getting called for penalties that they are committing, why is that an issue? i wish the officials would just call the game as it should reguardless of who's up or down and who already has more penalties. this "creating parity" officiating can be really frustrating... here's a novel idea, don't cheat, and you won't spend all day in the box.
  23. horrible to see. hope there isn't alot of ligament damage to go along with an obviously shattered ankle. take your time, let it heal, can't wait to see you back on the ice (which will most likely be next season some time). the fighting sioux family all have you in our prayers... i said last night after the missed cfb call that bruess would hurt someone with his reckless play, unfortunately i was right GET WELL SOON #3!!
