  1. Actually I agree with mplsbison here. It makes sense as a concession from the league and is now the second venue in the wcha big enough to host the siouxper six. I for one would love a road trip to omaha for playoffs. Omaha is a great sports town and has a growing loyal hockey fanbase. Plus its a reason to hit the old stomping grounds, some great bars in omaha.
  2. If his father and rest of his family are in Fargo, it would make sense for a 14 yr old kid to be with his family and play in Fargo. If dad is commuting, then I am guessing he will be with GFC. I don't think the NAHL is a league for a HS sophmore, age 15. Just my opinion, but another year of HS is good for a growing boy. Gives him time to weight train and put on muscle with a schedule that isn't too demanding. Also, it is still a young age to be away from family. I know it happens, but the NAHL is not the USDT where there is a VERY strict schedule and and emphasis on education. After that, I think it would be based on his development and what him and his family think is best for him. Obviously we have no say in any of this, but interesting to see how it plays out. Hopefully he will be in green and white, making plays like his father did in a few years.
  3. I dont recall anyone doubting it? I will go so far as to hypothesize noone here cares.
  4. yes, there are many functional addicts in society... for a while anyway. the abuse catches up with everyone eventually. sad, very sad.
  5. i had actually talked to someone with force ties, but that was a couple of months ago, and alot has changed, including blais no longer being there, which could affect his decision.
  6. actually, if a blue chipper will stick around, goalie is your best bet. i think st. cloud will be a top team with lee in net. he's the real deal, and i think he will be there a minimum of two or three years (although i heard he might play another year of jrs, is that true?). if they keep getting guys like lasch and roe, they could even finally win a ncaa tourney game ... i kid, i kid exiled one.
  7. i would have never guessed anyone would say prp was not good for the locker room?!? anyone know what the situation was? i wish him the best, still one of my favorite sioux of all time!
  8. ok, that is just another example of something that is just plain silly, but you know it will get a reaction. sure watching hockey in regular def is still fine, but you would have to be off your rocker a bit if you can't see how HD has made watching it on tv a million times better. heck, some sports your better off sitting in your lazy boy watching in HD on your big screen than sitting in the nosebleeds, although i would take live hockey any day of the week.
  9. one big difference... chelios flip flopped to uw, and both und and uw each won a national title in his college days while und may contend, i wouldn't hold your breath that the dogs will compete for a natty in olsen's time.
  10. so is malkin now a dirty hack because he started a fight by facewashing a guy, then throwing punches? just wondering if all is equal?
  11. top end talent goes to the pens role players goes to the wings defense is fairly even, although with lidstrom out (and erikson possibly?), obviously this tips the scale to the pens goalies both playing well, although both can give up weak ones at times, i give the edge to ma fleury i think experience is a wash even though detroit has more neither have an ex-sioux player, which is a detriment to both, but a wash nonetheless both teams are playing well right now, should be a great series my prediction (if lidstrom, datsyk, et. al. are out) pens in 6 with at least one route if the wings dudes are back... pens in 7 with 2 ot thrillers!! i love nhl playoffs!!! even to the casual fan, you can't tell me you would rather watch the cavs and magic shoot the bouncy ball and slap each other around??
  12. here's one... that davek just likes to argue and fight with people, so he will take whatever stance achieves that goal, no matter how ridiculous it is... you kind of lobbed that one in there on a side note, at least this thread is serving its purpose...
  13. did inch.com do a top ten reasons ss.com posters threw finley under the bus (or the flip side, top ten reasons it was all genoways fault)?
  14. they do have an embarassment of riches in that category... but lets play the what if game... what if, after already securing crosby and malkin, the pens take jonny toews instead of jordan staal with the #2 overall pick??... nothing against staal, he is a solid player, but with toews they would have three of the top centers in the game... would have been fun to watch, even if you aren't a pens fan.
  15. That was actually the first one I brought up... But worth mentioning again
  16. Someone posted in another thread we should start this, and its not a bad idea. Helps keep other threads on topic and gives davek an outlet for... Well whatever it is... Ill get it started... You can NOT be a sioux fan and a goof fan There is still a place for fighting in hockey Crosby is great, so is AO A knee to knee check IS dirty, so was ulfie Walski was a key part of the team the last 4 years I can have completely different views than someone and still have a fun message board discussion This is just the tip of the iceberg, but it is a start. If the mods want to shut this down, its ok, I did this as a joke, but could serve a useful purpose. The former players thread is out of control.
  17. IF uno joins the wcha, and IF blais is their new head coach... don't think und, um, uw or the other big dogs wouldn't lose some top recruits. one thing blais could do is recruit... even to omaha.
  18. toews with a beauty of a tip to tie it up 2 all over halfway through the third... dude is a gamer!!!
  19. none of these are former sioux... although former hockey players i guess have this discussion in the playoffs thread, or start a new one. but since it's already here, i'll add to the chaos... davek likes to stir the pot, that is obvious. whether or not he actually believes all the things he so stoutly defends here isn't even the point, he just wants a reaction, which is fine i guess, it gives us all something to discuss. crosby and ao are both phenomenal, and an argument can be made for either, to say that only one argument could be made is either severe lack of hockey sense or severely closeminded. to take it further, i believe an argument can be made between gretzky and lemieux. we'll never know if he would have stayed healthy, as with so many great athletes (bobby orr would fit this category also). gretzky was sick of course, but i think lemieux rivaled his talent with a much bigger frame.
  20. i agree, not sure why their two top playmakers got only 15 minutes of ice time?
  21. i didn't see much of it unfortunately, but it seems like i missed a good one.
  22. the chicago/vancouver game 6 is a great game! after toews makes it 3-1, vancouver has come back to tie it up late in the second. pit/was is going to a game 7, so i'm ok with chicago finishing off vancouver tonight
  23. kind of off topic, but after versteeg scored the pp goal, i was thinking... didn't chicago get him in a trade for bochenski? possibly even straight up? bochenski was the man for the sioux, but damn versteeg seems like the real deal, not a bad trade for chicago.
  24. fargo can't complete it's great run in its first season, losing 5-1 to indiana tonight. not sure if the flu bug was still an issue, but you won't hear blais use it as an excuse. cichy had 3 assists in the win. still a great run for blais and the force. let's hope fargo continues to support hockey!!
  25. i agree with you az... its time for the us to go young. osh, okposo, brown, johnson were there best us players hands down. if you add kane, parise, etc. into the mix, then at least we could compete with russia and canada, although those two are the powerhouses right now. also, if the us doesn't have anyone better than esche in net, it doesn't really matter. who is the best us born goalie right now?? i can't even think of one off the top of my head. is brian elliot american? he's better than what esche showed. ryan miller? i guess i don't have a clue what goalies are us born.
