  1. whos in goal for the us? he is all over the place. i wouldnt be comfortable in a one goal game if i were the us squad. and osh looks like he always does, flying around creating havok!!
  2. not playoff news, but nhl related, it seems phoenix is filing bankruptcy papers? now the league has assumed control? would be interesting to see how this plays out, possible that they could move the franchise? winnipeg has been begging for a team since the jets left. az do you know anything down there?
  3. apparently the nhl wants some new blood in there too, did you see the no goal call? absolutely nothing that could be done, the ref lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle like he is supposed to, but it was just laying, uncovered, on the goal line and hossa makes a diving effort to knock it in. i'm not a detroit fan at all, but having that happen with a minute left which would have sent the game into overtime is a tough one to swallow. wonder if babcock will get a fine for his post game comments?
  4. right on cue those who see it happening would also see multiple big ten schools joining div. 1 college hockey (which would be fine with me). if it happened today, it would be a six team big ten, if you include notre dame, which would make sense. so umtc, uw, um, mich. st., ohio st. and nd jr. whether it would happen or not in the future is out of our control. what we know now is we can't let college hockey flounder and lose teams, whether it be ua-huntsville or bsu. i say make the wcha 12 and see what happens in the future, but don't let college hockey lose more teams.
  5. i would be all for uno and bsu joining... and i'd be right on board with the siouxper 6 being held in omaha every other year. the advantages are numerous... not the least of which would be decent weather for some golf, and not having to be in gooferville for the tourney every year. omaha is a fun town, better than mpls in my opinion, but to each their own as i have never lived in the cities. we used to live across from the old aksarben barn where the lancers used to play, and went to a few uno games the last couple years we were there. it's a great sports city, and has a strong hockey contingent. i have never been to a hockey game at the quest center, but seems it would fit the seating requirements for the wcha tourney, so why not. i'm sure our brown and yellow faithful to the east would have a different take on this. isn't this where someone will chime in that wisconson and minny will take their toys and go home now (the great big 10 conspiracy )
  6. i actually agree with goon's thinking here. i bet they would keep the third place game and have a three day, two game per day event. one more game means more $$$ right. and we all know that the $$$$ does most of the talking in the world of college athletics.
  7. i guess i don't understand why they had bsu come make their presentation if they aren't going to give them some sort of answer? seems odd to me. i understand they may not have the votes to get in, which would be a shame if a competitive d1 program would be forced to go under because they couldn't find a league. they made it further than any wcha team this year, in fact i would guess there are a couple of wcha teams who have never been to the frozen four. it will be interesting to see what mccleod has to say tomorrow.
  8. according to the latest article in the forum... the bsu president says he expects an answer tomorrow. so not sure why you are under the impression there won't be a vote. i cant see the wcha having bsu bring all their people to florida just for there not to be a vote. i'm not saying they will get in, and maybe it will be left open ended, but it sounds like bsu expects some sort of decision tomorrow.
  9. looks like bsu will make its pitch as the lone applicant for wcha admission. i wonder how long until they would vote on it? http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/238756/group/home/
  10. parise up for lady byng trophy. would be nice to see him nominated for the hart also. guess we'll find out next week. anyone know why they drag out these announcements? is it supposed to build anticipation? anyway, good for zpar! http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=419920
  11. nash is their top center prospect, but they need big physical centerman, so i think they have a need for both. i can actually see both of them being productive at the pro level, great to hear we will get vandy for another season!
  12. looks like osh gets to keep playing for a while... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=419725
  13. is lapoint departing early? i know this is the first ever thread to get off topic
  14. toews with a beauty of a pass to set up chicagos first goal. announcers raving about his play so far in the playoffs, saying he is the best player on the ice.
  15. nice writeup about the success zajac has had this season... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=417436
  16. it wouldn't matter if it was brett hull, they wouldn't be chanting because he's an american player in toronto. fact is he led their team in scoring and is arguably their best player. it would be nice to see blake with a team who had some complimentary players, but hey he's got the big pay day, so i'm sure he doesn't mind if they aren't chanting his name. osh is a special player as we saw in his time here at und, even so i am surprised how quickly he is becoming the face of this young team, great to see.
  17. went and watched the US lose 6-5 to russia last night. they had shots at 50-22 in favor of the US, but i think it was high for both teams. the US was the better team except their goaltender, who was brutal. mattson does not play much 5 on 5, but played on the second pp unit and played on the pk some. he is a good skater and is bigger than i expected, but he needs another year of seasoning imho. morin had two goals and is definately a gamer, i think i land on the side of we would take him if he goes the college route. jerry york sat up behind us, not sure who he was watching? does bc have a recruit or two on the team? anyways, tough loss to take, goalie had an off night and would like all but maybe one of the goals back.
  18. i agree that you shouldn't use dirty stickwork, and then fail the answer the call if someone challenges you. on the other note, i think cherry i overdue to be put out to pasture. i understand he is/was a canadian icon and caters only to that, but his anti-anything that is not canadian schtick is getting old, maybe even to his canadian viewers, although i guess i won't speak for them. and yes i understand he says what he says to get a rise from people and viewership, but it's still tiresome nonetheless. i'd be interested to hear what our fellow canadians think, ive always wondered if he was really as revered as they make him out to be.
  19. best of luck to one of the best players to put on the sioux jersey, and my personal favorite! keep on proving the critics wrong. i wish you the best and hope to see you playing against your old linemates someday! there's no d.o.t. without the d!! thanks for a great 4 years.
  20. i agree that trupp had a slow second half, but unless he has another unfortunate injury, he will not miss a game next year.
  21. it was a good hip check, low, but a good legal hip check. but crosby was sticking up for his teammate. there has been alot of talk lately about retaliation on good hard checks, but i think crosby did what he had to do as the captain and leader, and will only help this team come playoff time. crosby has a rep for whining (warranted or not i don't know) but i do know he puts up with alot of chirping and sh!ttalk from the opposition and still goes out there and dominates. like him or not, he is one of the best.
  22. silver linings or not, he couldn't put all ten teams in the top five and i agree with redwing, freshman goalie, as good as he turned out to be, was our question mark. as far as meyers, inch.com or whoever else, the Sioux are the team everyone loves to hate, and they usually won't give respect until they have to. let them keep underestimating us, it makes it more fun anyways on a side note, when are they going to take the picture of bachman holding the mcnaughton cup off the wcha website? he's no longer in the league, and cc is no longer in possesion of the cup
  23. more recognition for oshie, named nhl rookie of the month... http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=416374
  24. not a huge surprise, i'm sure unh figured they would get only 2 years. not many first rounders stick around for 3, but look what it did for osh, he's been tearing it up since coming back from his injury. i'm sure we will hear much of the same from colin wilson once his season is done.
  25. that's wierd, i heard he was giving up hockey all together to join the manitoba mounty association. edit: i don't think he ever played in the ushl, i believe he played with vernon in the bchl
