  1. Hmm lets see two schools out of a group of 11 football schools complete a buyout and the entire conference is chick !@#$. Plus, I don't think winning or losing to FU had anything to do with it.. It was a business decision: 1) Play in an area that they heavily recruit and 2) make more money. Easy business decision, UCA bought UND out last year on a return trip. So, I guess you should add the Southland to your list of chicken !@#$ conferences. I don't like it but It happens all the time. FU fans always overreact like you have been seriously wronged somehow. I mean with all the FU football money - bring in the Gophers.
  2. I have got to meet you tailgating next fall - dear god I hope you see the difference between the two lists. Big Sky Alumni (1963 to present) approximately 50 years - 4 teams have left. One is now one of the top mid major basketball programs in the nation, another is one of the top football programs at FBS. Another is a very solid FBS football program and yes Northridge one opps in 50 years. Gonzaga University, Boise State University, University of Nevada, and California State University, Northridge. Compared to... MidCont/Summit League Alumni (1982 to present) approximately 30 years - 22 teams have left... some closed shop on all sports, some got kicked out, some went D-III, some changed names and numerous others just wanted to get the hell out... and it is not going to change anytime soon. University of Akron, University at Buffalo, Centenary College of Louisiana, Central Connecticut State University, Chicago State University, Cleveland State University, Eastern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, University of Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts University, Southern Utah University, Southwest Missouri State University, Troy State University, Buffalo, New York, University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Valparaiso University, Wright State University, Youngstown State University 2014 - UMKC TBD - IUPUI, IUFW, Oakland and Denver.
  3. I know that our friend JohnyBoy - AKA MR. Fact Check would be on this... But, I thought that I might help him out today.. 1) Well from 2007 to 2011 they average right around 100 in RPI rankings. Year - OU RPI - ORU RPI 2007 - 169 - 54 2008 - 122 - 154 2009 - 52 - 126 2010 - 53 - 131 2011 - 141 - 48 Avg. 107 - 102.6 If you want to roll with the years prior to SUs 2006 to 2003 you have averages of ORU 108 and OU 205. I would say a Top 50 program is a bit of an over statement. Don't get me wrong very nice programs but not Top 50.. Since, the SUs have been in the SL and using the benchmark of top 100 RPI. The SL has had the following final ranking. Year - # of Top 100 RPI 2007 - SL - 2 (54, 70) - next closest 169 2008 - SL - 1 (87) - next closest 122 and 142 2009 - SL - 2 (52, 83) - next closest 126 2010 - SL - 1 (53) - next closest 115 and 131 2011 - SL - 2 (42, 48) - next closest 141 It kinda looks like 1/2 teams are heavey favorites going into the tourney. Best of luck to both SUs this year in the Summit League Tournament. It does look like four teams this year SUs, WIll and OU.
  4. I think Huff has really elevated his game. I have been impressed with the step forward this year. Webb and Anderson have been hot and cold all year. UND needs Webb in the game at the end but can you afford it with his FT shooting.
  5. Big game today UND vs NAU, UND is tied for 3rd place in conference with only 4 games left (@UNC, @PSU, @ EWU, and SUU). NAU is fighting for the last playoff spot with UNC and PSU. A win today by UND and they get a little breathing room and a loss means that they will need to win one on the road. It is a FCS TV game, but I hope that they get a good crowd to support the team today. Huff has been playing great. If Brekke plays today, I think they have a good chance to win. It would be nice to see Schuler back in the rotation. I don’t think UND has played with a complete team all year (Huff, Brekke, Schuler and Archer all with extended injuries). Conference Standings: Montana * 14-1 Weber State * 13-2 North Dakota 8-7 Southern Utah 8-7 Sacramento State 7-8 Montana State 7-8 Northern Arizona 6-9 Northern Colorado 6-9 Eastern Washington 5-9 Portland State 4-11 Idaho State 4-11 Other Conference Games: SUU (8-7) @ EWU (5-9) Montana (14-1) @ ISU (4-11) MSU (7-8) @ WSU (13-2) Sac St (7-8) @ UNC (6-9) I am picking UND, SUU, Montana, Weber St and UNC.. UNC is fighting for playoff lives.
  6. I wish USD/SDSU and NDSU all the best. Conference affilations are a high stakes game of poker. Do, they end up in Missouri Vally? WAC? or another conference is anyones guess at this point. Just please, please - leave the Big Sky alone. I like the conference just the way it is..
  7. I think Schlossman's was talking to some of Bisonville's finest - who were crawling all over this earlier this week. Big thanks to Schlossman for all coverage. Just reading some of Hammy's post - he has a bit of "Puffy" in him...
  8. And the rest of the story: In switch, cable operators want to go "a la carte". http://www.reuters.c...E78K05L20110927 Why would they do this - "Comcast Corp and Time Warner Cable, the two largest operators have lost 1.2 million video customers in the 12 months to June 30." People are walking away from cable because of cost. Who is driving the cost up - SPORTS.. Most people do not watch the Big Ten Network - but have to pay for it. When this happens all the conference networks ie Big 10 Network money dries up. I know that if I had the choice I would drop the Big Ten Network in a heartbeat.
  9. Just go to BigSky TV and switch to VOD. Select the date and watch the game. They usually have them posted the next day.
  10. Good - except we still have not scored.. maybe I have caused this problem because UND has not scored since I started watching.. I will leave now!!
  11. Don't leave again - they are on a 7 point run since you left..

    2013 Recruiting

QB has been a position of need from a recruiting stand point for 2/3 years up to last year. It would be the 2010/2009 recruiting class that would be upper classman this year and the big miss from those classes was Trey Demler. I know that staff was execited about him when they got him as a fall verbal. But, it appears that he lost interest in football. I would assume that the coaching staff is looking for one or two recruits this year. One a high school senior and the other a JUCO or drop down. 2007: Jake Landry, Brock Setness* 2008: Seth Nicholls#, Marcus Hendrickson 2009: Blair Townsend# 2010: Chris Comes*, Trey Demler* 2011: Joey Bradley* 2012: Ryan Bratels, Joe Molberg, Braden Hanson and Jake Hanson * no longer at UND # playing at another position

Not sure that I would brag about NDSU's internet fanbase. I consider myself a fairly moderate poster light weight smack nothing serious and I post on four message boards mostly here and AGS. I have a twitter account which I use to follow various reporters for news and sports. I have used this account for about 5/10 tweets and I have had some fairly distributing interactions with the NDSU internet fanbase which definitely curtail my online activities. AGS - I have received several seriously messed up PMs from Lakes and JBB. Note: I don't know these guys and I can't believe anyone would send what they do via PM. NOTE: I only replied to them when it was so outrageous that they needed to be called out and I simply posted links and portions of the links text to refute their claims. Twitter - I posted one tweet toward a NDSU fan - he was showing a picture of the new track and field facility. NOTE: very nice facility it should help NDSU's track program. But, my reply was simply - "nice Tin Shed". Wow - you would not believe the hell that broke out and two hours later my twitter account was hacked. It was a mess.. I know that I don't have to tell most UND fans that are active on the message boards and twitter to be very careful. I can only image what DaveK and Darryl have been through. But, I know that I am very careful about what I post after my account was hacked. The NDSU online fanbase has some truly messed up people and one of the reasons why I do not enjoy NDSU's fans on SiouxSports. I am all for a little smack, but when comments like "nice Tin Shed" gets you a hacked account. I truly don't want to interact will any NDSU fans online. I don't think most NDSU fans get how bad of a rep they have.. NOTE: Sorry, I did not mean to take it out on you Bison6. You are a reasonable dude. But, I just wanted to let you know what it is like on the other (UND) side and dealing with NDSU fans online. NDSU fans have a tendency to think UND fans are too sensitive about smack. The problem from my end is that NDSU fans don’t know how to take what they dish..

  20. seriously - free throws - again.. you have to make free throws to win games.
  21. anyone else having trouble with the streaming tonight.
  22. I am thrilled with the Big Sky.. you have to wonder how long of a commitment DU made to SL. My guess is that DU will be looking for better options down the road.

    Fire Muss

OK, I will go with two plays from yesterday.. 3rd and 1 - I don't know all of the routes or play call. But as I remember it, shot gun - 1 short side - two or three lined up wide right. Hanson make a read at the line and sees single high with man coverage short side against Jackson. I am sure going into the play he likes that match-up. As the play develops, he steps up and rolls to his left sightly. He has a LB shadowing him because of the 8 yard run earlier in the drive. He chooses to throw the ball deep and over throws Jackson. I am fine with the play because, he put the ball the in the hands of his QB and WR to make a play. Personally, I thought that Hanson could have got the first down by pulling it down and running for the first. But, he threw it deep to a play maker. You win sometimes and lose sometimes. 4th down - it is a tough call - what make it more interesting is the amount of time left. If it is less than 10/15 seconds, you kick it. With 47 seconds left you are tempted to get the first because you have plenty of time to get another 10 to 20 yards to make it a sure thing. Plus you are looking at all the other aspects: wind, left hash, I think the kicker has a natural draw... I am fine with him going for it. I am not sure I agree with the play call itself. I would have went with more of a spread offense to prevent them from putting 10 in the box. But, they went with a short yardage power play. They didn't get it. The one thing that switching the play after the timeout did was confuse the UNC defense into too many players. Unfortunately for UND fans the call was not made. Again, its all part of the game. It sucks sometimes, but it is life.
  24. 39th with 68 right - went with a couple of upsets this week to catch the leaders - that was a FAIL.
