Will UND move from 18 to 26 scholarships. I assume they will. Are they going to add - woman basketball, softball and volleyball scholarships to meet this change to support Title IX.
-
UND 24 - TR Freshman, 25 - RS Freshman, 21 - Sophomores, 21 - Juniors, 9 - Seniors, 5 - Fifth Year, 2 - Grad Is this the new portal structure? Comparing it to SDSU is interesting. SDSU - 21 - Freshman, 29 Sophomores, 14 Juniors, 29 - Seniors, 1 - Grad (NOTE: I am not sure how current the roster is for SDSU).

Agreed - If this is all true. The P4 has effectively broken away from all other schools while being under the control of the NCAA.
-
No Ethan Ball - that is surprising - I was thinking that he would get more playing time this year. Hope it isn't a career injury type of thing.
-
Based on the text "power conference commissioners finalized". I assumed P4 only. With the settlement payouts I think most FCS schools are fine to sit tight. And if they did what's the difference between G5 and FCS. Plus, only 10 to 20 schools could actually afford to do it. The G5/top of FCS merger is getting closer ever year. In addition, I didn't see anything on hockey, that would be an interesting change.

That is one heck of a bug/find.

According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, power conference commissioners finalized the roster-size limits under which athletic departments will be able to allocate millions of dollars in new scholarships. Football will have a roster limit of 105, up from the 85-man NCAA scholarship limit that currently exists. Baseball will also see a massive increase in scholarship / roster size, going from 11.7 scholarship slots to 34. Basketball will increase from 13 to 15. Softball will increase from 12 to 25, while volleyball will increase from 12 to 18. https://www.on3.com/news/ncaa-approves-new-roster-size-limits-paving-way-for-additional-scholarships/ Extra 20 scholarships per program for P4.. So, we have 105 for P4, 85 for G5 and 63 for FCS. That is a big jump. all 105 (+20) Basketball 15 (+2) Baseball 34 (+22.3) Softball 25 (+13) Volleyball 18 (+6)

When do they release/post the roster?

NCAA Tournament Credits for each conference: 2017-2018 MVC - 25 / Summit League - 7 This workout to ~ $780 per MVC school 2023-2024 MVC - 9 / Summit League - 8 This workout to ~ per school. MVC $290K / SL $305 Previously the Summit League aspired to be more like the MVC. Unfortunately in today's NCAA the MVC has moved to toward being more like the Summit League. The MVC is in rapid decline once you get past the public schools - U of Ill -Chicago, SIU and ISU you don't have much. And those public schools are centered around Chicago, Illinois which is doing it's best to destroy itself. The MVC private schools are very small once you get past Belmont and Drake - DU and St. Thomas are larger schools in larger metro areas. In many ways the Summit League schools have passed the MVC schools. I guess another way to put it - only two schools in the Summit are not R1 or R2. Only three schools in the MVC are R1 or R2. But, the MVC has the basketball pedigree and that matters. But, less and less each year.

And more national presences on CBS Sports Network, NCHC and Summit League.
-
Thanks - it appeared to be out of date.

Quick question, is the roster on UND Insider current?
-
That is why you shouldn't think of it as a single game event. Look at it as a starting point for something like the early season events in Sioux Falls each year. How do you build a similar event in Grand Forks? Example: The Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase at the Pentagon July 3, 2024 SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Field of 68, a college basketball media network bringing basketball fans premier sports content, is partnering with Sanford Sports and the Sanford Pentagon to launch a new, innovative event on the opening day of the college basketball season. On Nov. 4, the Sanford Pentagon will host ‘The Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase,’ an event featuring matchups between six of the best programs in college basketball. The inaugural event features the matchups of Saint Louis vs. Santa Clara, College of Charleston vs. Southern Illinois and McNeese State vs. South Dakota State. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. CT, August 1 at ticketmaster.com. The times of the games will be released later. The games will be broadcast on The Field of 68’s YouTube Channel and X feeds, and the network’s popular After Dark show will go live from the Sanford Pentagon at10:00.

Are you kidding? Somebody better tell the Big East These schools all play in multipurpose Basketball/hockey arenas and this list is limited to the Big East: Creighton, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's (Madison Square Garden), UConn (XL Center), Villanova

The all-weather “Hawkway” between "Hsylop" at Memorial Village and the "Fritz" Pollard Athletic Center will be built out by the old brick from Memorial Stadium (I think).
-
This could be interesting. St. Paul can be tricky this way they have a branch of the Interstate System 35E with a speed limit of 45 and serious load restrictions.
-
I completely disagree - Midco has done a great job . They have provided great exposure for UND sports. I hope that they are able to make the streaming platform work and that they are able to get Summit League/MVFC and NCHC all under one umbrella. People complain about UND sports being segmented to watch. I would say that is more of a function of UND having its sports all over the place in multiple conferences. UND needs to keep working to get all of its sports in a single sports conference. The Summit League would be better served if they sponsored Football, Basketball and Hockey.

I think it is called HCU Houston Christian University - I think previously it was called Houston Baptist University - in the Southland Conference. Ex-Great West School.

I thought that July 1st was move in day for the new athletic offices. I was expecting a bit of social media.. is it happening or did I have the wrong date?
-
I always thought they jumped on a train Iike a bunch of Hobos.

Really looking forward to this season.

Oh, it was clear to me, I just wanted to add some context about the differences in programs. And the Aviation programs are absolutely not comparable.
-
Are you serious - good Aviation program? What aviation program? I just looked it up they have an aviation program. But there is absolutely no comparison between the two aviation programs. Here are the graduation and retention number for 2022 at SDSU. 2016FA (Fall 2016-Summer 2022) Start 20 Graduated 6 30% And many consider the engineering programs at SDSU as the second-best program in the State after SDSM&T. IMO, SDSU is a good school. I have many friends who have attended. But it needs to get the Dairy program going again and look at Veterinary programs. You know BE the State's "Ag" school. What is more important to the State? Ag or Aviation. Apparently not Ag based on some of SDSU's actions. South Dakota State students fight closure of Dairy Research and Training Facility https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=c7f11382fdd01dcbJmltdHM9MTcxODU4MjQwMCZpZ3VpZD0zYzI1ZWU4NC0wNTQxLTYyMWQtM2RiOC1mZWQ4MDRhNzYzOTcmaW5zaWQ9NTMxOA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=3&fclid=3c25ee84-0541-621d-3db8-fed804a76397&psq=Dairy++Progam+at++South+Dakota+State+closing&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuYWd3ZWVrLmNvbS9saXZlc3RvY2svZGFpcnkvc291dGgtZGFrb3RhLXN0YXRlLXN0dWRlbnRzLWZpZ2h0LWNsb3N1cmUtb2YtZGFpcnktcmVzZWFyY2gtYW5kLXRyYWluaW5nLWZhY2lsaXR5&ntb=1

Yes, and now the rest of the athletic department has freed up money that would have gone for those hockey scholarships. It's a win/win.

Not a fan but I raise you, "Minnesota"
