  1. On this mornings Sports Center Barry Melrose was talking about the Devils and he said that ZP's not only a great young player, but is now NJ's best forward. He said move over Ellias, Gomez, Gionta, ZP is the go to guy now. Great to see not only the UND players thriving, but Moorhead's Matt Cullen had the series clinching goal for the Rangers.
  2. Also INCH.com names Toews to 2nd team All-American, and Chorney to 3rd team All-American. Way to go guy's!!!
  3. I somehow missed this one. Hilarious!!!
  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that. He had the biggest !@$! eating grin on his face. Radke should have known better, but that smirk on EJ's face pissed me off to no end. I can't believe that no one else said anything. To all gopher lurkers. Radke got 5 and deserved it.
  5. Lee-Chorney Bina-Finley Jones-Genoway Where is he going to play. IMO, Radke was added to the 4th line to add some physicality to the wing. He does a decent job at the wing as long as he's not taking bonehead penalties. I think our d-men are playing great right now. Chorney is so smooth with the puck and rarely make mistakes in his own end. Lee has got it together in the past month or so. He's playing the body a little bit more and has really limited his mistakes on the defensive end. He has also been jumping into the play with a little more confidence. Bina and Finley are our best pair IMO. Not much goes wrong when they are out there and big Joe is so valuable on the PK with his length and ability to get in the way of passes. Finally Jones and Genoway really have impressed me, considering they are so young. Genoway is going to be a force with the puck in future years. If nobody leaves I don't know where they will put Lapointe and Marto. Lapointe looks too good to sit on the bench. Without massive defections I don't see Radke getting back to the blue line.
  6. I think it was Fabian with the comment to Lucia. I don't think anyone can dis Porter's skating stride, it's so smooth. Now, Fabian's, is not so smooth. Not that I should talk.
  7. Fighting Sioux 23- You are correct. The voting is done and the winner is locked away until next Friday.
  8. IMO, it means more competition for ice time which should lead to more intense practices and in the end a better team. At leaste that's how I see it.

    STL

Just got an e-mail from travelzoo. United dropping prices on midwest flights. It listed msp-STL at $88 each way. I haven't researched it too closely as I'm going to be in Vegas for the Frozen Four. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to carry cash for any ss.com members looking to place a bet. Just a small winners commission to me. Anyway here's the link if anyone is interested. http://www.travelzoo.com/Newsflash.asp?290695 Good luck!!
  10. Siounami, Don't let that one hit you in the head on the way by. FYI, I got it, row5seat5.
  11. I don't know which way you're thinking the stats will lean, but from what I can gather he has a better PPG on NHL ice than on Olympic. NHL ice- 25 games 13-20=33pts. 1.32ppg Olympic ice- 15 games 8-9=17pts 1.13ppg (including 4-3=7 in 7 WJC games) The numbers are very close.
  12. Jason Blake did alright. IMO, it's better to be a free agent than a later round pick. More options, and better $$$. Duncan will get offers from multiple teams, you just can't teach that wrister. Everyone in the rink knows where he going (short side top shelf), but nobody can stop it.
  13. That's a great story. After the Wheeler goal I turned around to the gopher fan and his wife behind me, we'd been having a great time ripping eachother's team, and his SCSU buddy all weekend, and said, "that's a lot like Broten's goal in the 1979 championship game". I thought that highlight was fairly memorable, and thought he'd say yeah, your right. All I got was a HUH?? Way to know your programs history. I was a little disapointed. Come on Bert, Sagard, cardinal, and fire helmet guy, you guys should have a little history lesson over on GPL.
  14. I had a great time yesterday. Stuckinfargo was unreal, I don't think he was beat cleanly once. Most goals were on third or fourth attempts. We did a great job clearing away rebounds. The ss.com team was in full Badger mode. We dropped three to four back on defence (few had energy to forecheck) and when we got the puck we'd either try to ice or flip it out of the zone. Eaves would have been proud. Thanks for putting this together, and barring any career ending injury (stubbed toe, bad hang nail, ect.) I'll be back next year.
  15. Nice work PCM, I just finished Lammy's stats and I decided to check to see if someone else was faster. Now I have to actually work.
  16. Fist time to a final five. Myself, wife, gopher fan and his sioux fan wife . I'll be in my green jersey, and I have no idea where my seats are, i think they are either club or lower level.
  17. They did a great job of shutting Dubay up when he was stating that the Gophers had so much on the line; playing for a number one overall seed, maybe going to Denver without Denver there, getting an easy first round matchup vs. Alabama-Huntsville...PA qued up the Holy Cross tape just as he said easy game. Then Dubay went into classic spin mode stating how Holy Cross was expected to be a tough game and that Ala-Hunt is terrible and the Gophs will roll all over them, or maybe he was saying the Gophs will just roll over.
  18. Sorry Goon I ment Duck's Unlimited. A few years ago he was a national trustee for the group.
  19. I'll bring my way too big green sioux jersey that I bought in a panic b4 last years regional. After the game look for a "game worn" UND jersey on E-Bay!!
  20. Come on scottM, Wick is one of better commercial litegators in the area, who's firm was hired by the NCAA. He's doing his best for his client, which is what you would want from your attorney. I don't agree with him, but this is no reason to compare him to your typical ambulance chaser. THe NCAA wanted good local representation and got it. FYI, goon may actually like him. His a big time suporter of DU and has some great hunting land outside of Dawson.
  21. I'd have to agree. Although the yellow jerseys may result in some bad turnovers by POI. They might forget they are wearing maroon.
  22. That is pretty big talk. There is no doubt that Red River will be the concensus number one team starting next year, but didn't these juniors loose to Grafton in bantams? My top three is RR, GPR and South. RR and GPR will be on a teir a little above south though. As good as the Gambucci led teams of the late 60's who were probably the top team in the country, as good as the RR teams in the late 80's (Roseau's only loss of the year), as good as the Panzer led Central (who were national champs as bantams), as good as the RR team led by RP and DI? I'm not saying they are not going to be good, but I didn't see anyone anointing south last year when they were 2 or 3 goals from being undefeated. The fist question will be who will stay and who will go to juniors. Lets leave the best ever title until the end of Feb. 2008.
  23. I saw a bunch of Roseau hockey players at last Friday's game. Can Sophmores make official visits or do you have to be a junior?

  25. I'm not going to look it up, but was that Wurden getting drafted?? He's got the size, speed and hand skills for it. Sometimes I wonder if he'd be better suited for a power forward type roll. He seems to get caught up ice quite a bit right now, but he certainly has all the tools. We'll see if he can bring his game up as he moves to higher levels of competition. If drafted would he be the first Bruin ever?? I can't think of any in the last 20+ years.
