  1. I'm not from GF, but from Fargo. We are going through a similar process here with Fargo South being split into 2 schools. What are the enrollment numbers at each of the GF schools, and if my assumption is correct (rr is bigger than GFC), then is central large enough to handle increased enrollment or will it need to be added on to? It will be interesting to see how the transition is handled in Fargo, maybe GF will be able to learn from Fargo's mistakes (I'm sure there will be some). IMO, if a change in district borders is best for the city and most importantly if it is best for the kids then I say, take a look at it. It will be interesting to read the letters to the editor over the next couple of weeks.
  2. LB- McFeely's the prime suspect IMO. Hopefully the cops will find those involved. This happened in Duluth to UMD's new science building a few years ago and the kids did around $3 million in damage. The HS kids started talking and the cops were on them very quickly. I think the school is now going after the parents.
  3. Why in God's green earth would the WCHA ever leave the X? It is within easy driving distance for 6 teams and is 20 minutes from one of the most accesible airports in the US. Plus, the X my not be a plush as the Ralph, but its one of the top 5 hockey arena's in the world and holds about 7,000 more than the Ralph. Add those to the fact that GF honestly doesn't have the hotels, food or the night scene that the Twin Cites have. Hey, I love The Ralph as much as everyone else, but why screw with perfetion? IMO the WCHA Final Five is the best weekend of hockey all year.
  4. I've watched the last two forzen four games at Hooligan's. Always lots of sioux fans in attendance. I might be there on Saturday, but if the sioux win I'll be there for sure on Sunday. I also will be bringing a little guy, maybe 2 we'll see.
  5. As a Fargo hockey supporter and fan I don't think the State Hockey Tournament should ever be in Fargo. The Ralph is the premier hockey facility in the COUNTRY not just ND and all the kids who qualify should have the opportunity to play there. I remember how excited I was to play in the old Ralph for state. Now I do think that the UP Center should host EDC. The 5000 seat UP Center is a perfect size for that tournament. Plus you could play some of the consolation game next door in the 1500 seat arena (assuming it will be built). Just my $.02.
  6. From what I understand the BSA upgrade has two options. Option one happens if the city comm approved the Fargodome addtion and NDSU BB will have a new home. THe BSA will be renovated with upgraded lockerrooms, office, training and weight rooms along with a new indoor track. Option two is if the dome addition is a no go the BSA will be upgraded with the above changes but also extensive renovations to the main arena to make is a suitable DI facility. NDSU is holding off making their plans (which are done) public until they know what the the Fargodome is going to do. I think NDSU has already raised over $10million for the BSA upgrade. Disclaimer- this is all 2nd hand info and is not from an inside source.
  7. St. Patrick is first in line. If that falls through I'll let you know.
  8. My in-laws are looking to sell their Saturday tickets for the Sioux-Bulldog game. They are in Sec 10 row 12. Let me know by the end of the week so I can make sure they get to you. They are looking for $25 per ticket (face value) and I'll cover the cost of priority shipping. PM or email me at roper1313@yahoo.com Thanks
  9. No problem. Sorry if I got a little defensive. The fact is that there is/was no RDO money in the arena. I think that Ace's mom may have bought a suite, and she may have put some money into the main arena. RDO Equipment assets were never backing the financing. IMO, corporate Fargo is waiting to see the main sheet get finished, and they'll step forward to help with the 4 additional sheets. I think there are many big money people who think the main arena is Ace's deal, and it is for the most part, but when it comes to building the 4 additional sheets they'll step up big time. At least I hope.
  10. Offut is his step-dad not father-in-law. Ace's mom and Ron are still married. I hate to flame, but try to get you facts straight when talking about personal issues such as divorce.
  11. While I'll certainly agree with you that the financing has been a disaster. You can blame who you want, but the biggest problem was the fact that the USHL wanted the team for 2008 so the whole project was pushed ahead a year. I'm not going to make any excuses for how it was handled. It was done poorly. I really don't know how you are comparing a residential development and city owned golf course with the building of a privately financed (kinda of) arena/events center. Plus, if you don't think Kevin Christiansen had any problems, you should ask the city who had to take possession of quite of few lots in the early 2000s when his development company couldn't make the property tax payments on many of the golf course lots. From what I understand this is a fairly common practice in residential development, but to say things went smoothly for Osgood is a gross understatement. I don't think you can say anything negative about the Urban Plains developement (sans UP Center) up to this point. It should be very impressive when things start to fill in. Back on to the topic at hand. Here are some articles from this mornings Forum: Announcement http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...;section=sports McFeely's reaction http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...;columnist=Mike McFeely
  12. I know there is some history between them, but IMO it would be better for the tournament. THe little REA is a great facility, but TRF is well TRF. Maybe Fargo and GF could work together as cities, oh wait, never mind. It is going to be cold out in the next couple of days, but I don't think hell has froze over yet. Both cities need to grow up, IMO.
  13. I know that the UP Center is hoping that the people at REA will use them as a secondary site instead of TRF. It seems like some people in GF don't think anything was wrong with the TRF site, and there probably wasn't anything wrong, but IMO having Fargo and GF partner on this would only make sense. Heck, a ton of people were staying in Fargo last time around.
  14. so.cal.sioux- I didn't see any smileys so I don't know if this was dripping sarcasim, which I hope it was. Getting the record was just something neet to do for the 50th annual feed, but we've raised close to $750,000 over the years for youth organization throughout the area. I just hope Fargo and GF can come together for the U20 in 2011 and have the new UP Center as one of the secondary sites for the tourney. Only makes sense. Lots of hotels and easy drive between the two cities.
  15. Tickets still available. Would like to give them to a Sioux fan and not a Bulldog. E-mail me at roper1313@yahoo.com
  16. I'm guessing that Kelley is having an attorney look through all of the language in the offer from SBoHE. IMO, this is a non issue and if all the i's and t's are dotted and crossed he'll sign within the next 24 hours. At this level of employment/compensation you need to look it over even if you really don't want to. edit: misspelled Kelley's name.
  17. The tickets are for the Saturday game and they are Section 10 Row 12.
  18. Sorry, I missed Easter weekend last year (Vegas Baby) and I don't think my little guys will like it two year in a row. It's too bad, I've been skating a little more this year so my legs might survive the game. Unlike last year.
  19. I played last year, but with it being Easter weekend I'm going to have to take a pass. We are actually going to miss the Final Five altogether. Oh well, I'm in next year.
  20. You're right, thery are my in-laws tickets so I need to find out what day. Sorry for the confusion.
  21. I have two tickets available for Friday's game at the DECC. I'll confirm location tomorrow but the two tickets are either in Sec 10 row 12 or Sec 12 row 10. Paid $25 for each ticket, just looking for face value. Either reply or PM me. Thanks,
  22. I never get this close to right but here is what I'd do if I were the committee (overall seeds): West Colorado Springs (2) Michigan -v- (13) Northeastern (5) Colorado College -v- (11) Providence North East Albany (3) Denver -v- (16) RIT (6) UND -v- (9) Clarkson Midwest Madison (1) Miami -v- (14) Wisconsin (8) Notre Dame -v- (12) UMD East Worchester (4) New Hampshire -v- (15) BSU (7) Michigan State -v- (10) Boston College I didn't do any RPI analysis, I just eliminated intraconfrence matchups, maintained 1 -v-4 & 2 -v-3, and of course looked for BIG $$$. The west is great with host CC and an decent traveling Michigan. The NE in Albany should be great as well with two teams in close proximity (by western standards) to Albany; RIT and Clarkson. The midwest bracket keeps #1 overall Miami "close" to home and with UMD and ND able to drive this could set regional records for attendance. In the east we have to HE powerhouses in NH and BC to boster attendance. I'm sure this is nowhere near what the brackets will look like, but it's sure fun to blow 15-20 minutes trying.
