  1. I heard this rumor on Friday, but didn't want to post as I had no proof. If his family needs him then I wish him well. However we won't know the truth until after April 8th.
  2. I see no problem with this. My cousin, a BIG Sioux fan got married on April 8th 2000. Hopefully the Sioux give you as good a wedding present as they gave my cousin.
  3. My wife and I ate at Boston's before the game and the Gopher fans next to us at the bar said they sold their tickets (I don't know how many) for a $140 bar tab. Looked like lots of sioux fans were trying to buy tix b4 saturdays game, hopefully they got in. BTW, I've always watched the games from 113, but the upperdeck is great!! I just had to get my shuffle on while navigating to my seats. I tripped on a cup holder and had my life flash b4 my eyes.
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but all #1 seeds get the early game. This allows them the most rest heading into the regional final. This is assuming that they win of course. NEWSFLASH to the gopher fans who are complaining: This is an advantage!!
  5. That fact that people think that GF needs Minnesota to fill the ralph is a joke!! That place will be rockin!! I can't belive that my cousin has her wedding on the 25th. The only good thing is the last time I had a wedding during a Sioux game was on April 8th, 2000!!
  6. I have to agree that letter to the editor is a crock. Home fans mocking the opposing players? Signs making fun of the visiting team? Hockey players dropping f-bombs while on the ice, where no one can hear them but themselves? Oh, the horrors!! However I will comment on the ongoing problem at The Ralph, language. Not students, if they want to swear amongst themselves I have no problem with that. It's the plowed 40-50 year olds that have had 13-14 too many before the game and think that they are witty dropping 20 or 30 fingheimers and son-of-a-b!tche$ throughout the game. I split season tickets in 113 and the idoit in row L or M was getting to most to the fans in front of him. Luckily I didn't bring my 4 year old, we may have had to have a little chat. I don't have a problem ripping oppsoing players or the refs, but come on use some creativity. He sounded like a 10 year old who just learned how to swear. Now I'm stepping off my soapbox.
  7. Does this mean you will be chearing for the Sioux in the Final Five championship game vs. the Gophs?
  8. Bernie is real hard to listen to. That's too bad because he gets some great guests. The mumbeling and stammering just drives me bonkers.
  9. I don't have the link but this was brought up earlier in the thread. UND probably gets a 4 seed and the Gopehers get shipped out east. That would be a nightmare senario for the overall 3 or 4 seed.
  10. Thanks I made the change. The s and z are too close on the keyboard for me.
  11. I think that it would show that Jutting has some ethics and this would certainly send a message to his team and campus for that matter, that his players are not above the law. Is there any sort of official word on this??
  12. Fetch- I agree with your opinion on the slap shot. Most youth hockey players spend too much time on it. I think that Brian will need it in his arsenal to make that next step. The wrister is great from the slot on in, but is not as effective from way out at the point. IMO, Lee does not have the shot that Stafford does. Not many people in the world do. That was a great shot. My 4 year old thought it was great when the puck got stuck in the net.
  13. Did something similar to what Rushmore did, but for your favorite team. Love to hear your opinions. http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5781
  14. Rushmore did a great review of Gopher freshman and I thought it would be nice if some Sioux supporters did one for the Freshman class. WARNING, this will be long. Oshie- WOW, what a great suprise coming straight out of high school!! There were thoughts that he might not be ready for DI hockey, but he quickly ended that conversation. TJ is a pure goal scorer. He is one of those guys that can just find the back of the net. The biggest surprise is his physical play. At 5'10" 165 lbs. (he looks more like 180) not exaclty a imposing guy, but hits like a mack truck and seems to thrive on contact. Thanks goodness he came direclty out of high school, because if he played in the USHL this year he IMO he'd be one and done. Let's hope St. Louis keeps him down here to season a few more years. Only negative is that he needs to work on his skating, but certainly is getting the job done. Toews- Do you remember what you were doing at age 17? We all knew that he had unlimited potential and the preseason draft ratings lent to some very high expectation. Maybe they were too high at the beginning of the year, but he is develping into a world class power forward. At 6'2" 180 Jonny has a lot of room to grow and develop into a beast in the corners. He's so tough to knock off the puck right now I can't imagine what he'll be like in a couple of years. What's great? shot, hands, and face offs. What needs some work? he just needs to get older and bigger. Sky's the limit for this kid. Duncan- Prototypical UND small forward. Fast, with great hands. We all saw the numbers he put up in the BCHL and knew there was some talent, but I didn't think he would have a large an impact during his freshman year. Best thing about Duncan is that with his size he'll be here all four years!! Seems to play real well with Toews and Stafford, and that should be a deadly combination for the remainer of the year and next year as well. Right Drew?? Kozek- Great grinder who is really played well on the fourth line. Plays a lot bigger than is size and seems to have the ability to bury the puck when needed. He will be a great third liner for UND. Watkins- I can't give much of an opinion on him. He hasn't stood out in my mind, but that is not necessarly a bad thing either. Hopefully, someone can give a better review than this. Martens, Alexander, Miller- Typical freshman year, we haven't needed them, yet and hopefully they are doing the things behind the sceens to garner some ice time next year. Lee- Lots of hype after a great HS career, and being named to Wold Jr. as a senior in HS. You can see the great puck skills and seems to see the ice well on the powerplay. Brian's play in the defensive zone needs some work as he has been prone to coughing up the puck in the corners. He should fill in the 6'3" frame and needs to learn the physical side of being a defenseman. He has a great wrister that seems heavy and accurate, but I'd love to see him develope a big slapper. The slapshot is overrated imo, but on the powerplay it is something he could use to keep the penalty killers off balance. The good thing is that he will be around for at least one more year, and may need 2 more before he is a flight risk. Chorney- I knew nothing about him and I have been pleasently surprised. He seems to blend some good puck skills with sound defensive zone play. Should be a solid defensman for the Sioux for 3 more years. Jones- Very similar skill set to Chorney, but with a lot more attitude. He seems to find himself in the box quite a bit, but I like to see this in a freshman. He will lean to be aggressive without not taking a stupid penalty. Does anyone else with Zack was about 3 inches taller? He's got that nasty streak that his brother had. Finley- What a monster. I've really been impressed with how he has developed. Most big d-men take a year to adjust to the speed of the college game, but I think that Joe has develped in about 1/2 the time. I don't see him making many bad decisions and has been able to cover up those errors with his freakishly long reach. He's only going to get better and will develop into a major force in front of the net and in the corners. I look at him and think he can put 20-30 pounds on that frame, yikes!! Walski- Doing what he is supposed to be doing. Taking the load off of JPar and Phil during practice. Will he develope into a backup of Phil?? Summary- This is long enought, but I've been thrilled with this freshman class. Much better than the class of 2001(?). If they continue to develop and stick around this class could, become one of the best UND has seen. What do you think?? That's a lot of F'ing freshman.
  15. I think that Depiatro (sp?) played real well. I don't think the goaltending can be questioned this year it all fall onto the forwards. I thought Blake really stood out today. What a great penalty killer.
  16. Why not add Paul Weisgarber to the list. He's in the mold of the small speedy forwards the sioux love. With a year or two in the USHL he may become an option. I know Paul's a 4.0 student so he may be leaning Ivy League, but I don't have any idea.
  17. I didn't see this posted anywhere, but the north-south game originally scheduled for Thursday 7:30 has been moved to Friday at 4:30. F-M Jets game will follow 30 minutes after the game. If you are a HS hockey fan and in the area stop in on Friday and show your support for the south team, as this has been a tough week for everyone. 18. Hey they could use the bleachers for the firewood. I know you were joking ND Pride, but the city of Fargo isn't.
  19. And another thing. It pisses me off that the Forum continues to report that Fargo has shot down youth hockeys needs for a new facility. Don't get me wrong I would love to see Fargo with a $40 million hockey rink, but I hope The Forum wasn't fooled into thinking that these were actually efforts to help youth hockey. They were for Bison Hockey and the voters said no to that!! Enough of the rants, I'm leaving to Palm Spring is 3 hours so I'm done being pissed.
  20. Don't get me started on a rant about the "sructurally sound" Coliseum. The city is on crack thinking that a renovation is the answer. What is structurally sound? To expand the rink to full size they are going to have to rip the damn thing down to the foundations anyway. What are they going to use of the original building? I'd love to hear the cities plans instead of "our architects say that the building is structurally sound". So is fricken alcatraz, but I wouldn't want to play hockey in there. Maybe we can buy the old REA for a cup of coffee and move the thing to Fargo and plant it in a central location. Let's not forget that a new highscool will be opening in Fargo in 5 years and it will be located at 73rd ave. south. THat's a haul to the Coliseum. End of rant.
  21. I really don't think Eades and Lucia would have any say in the matter. If what I stated is correct then the Big 10 would automatically start the confrence. Scheduling with a 6 team confrence might be a pain in the A$$, but I don't think any of those school would have any problem getting out of confrence games. This topic always comes up when the rumors swirl on Notre Dame joining the Big 10. Although if Notre Dame can continue send a team to a BCS game every couple years there is no way they'll move to a confrence and have to share that $$$.
  22. Does anyone know how many goals south will need to score to sway the tie breaker to their advantage? Of course this is assuming that both south and red river win out the rest of the way.
  23. UW 28 42 UMN 28 37 UND 28 36 Denver 28 36 CC 28 32 SCSU 28 28 Mankato 28 22 UMD 28 18 AA 28 15 MTech 28 14 I don't think this is out of the question. I haven't been real impressed with Denver lately, although last weekend saved their Pairwise tumble. Sioux sweep at home and split on the road. A 8-2 finish is very optimistic, but what the heck, I'll admit it I'm a Sioux fan
  24. For those that are voting Penn State, be aware that if they were added the WCHA would loose Minnesota and Wisconsin to the Big 10 Hockey confrence. As has been discussed ad nausium on USCHO Big Ten bylaw mandate that a sport would be added to the confrence if 6 member schools participate in a sport. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Penn State. Be careful what you wish for, the WCHA can't affoard to loose MN and WI.
  25. Forney had 1G 2A in TRF's overtime loss at Moorhead. Also, potential recruit Jordy Christian had 2G 1A, including the game winner for Moorhead.
