  1. Good post ethanm, it will be curious to see what the buzz is at this years Roger's Maris Golf Tourney weekend. The Maris family is usually all there, along with Roger HS buddies, and his best fans.
  2. What percent of St Cloud students are from the Twin Cities. I work with several grads and they like St Cloud Hockey, but most follow the Gophers for other sports.
  3. Point taken, UND does draw better than most DII schools.
  4. Sorry guys, but bincitysioux is always over on Bisonville wisecracking away, so this response is just for bincitysioux. No smack intended. GVSU official game summary has 8,222 for the official attendance. Routinely must mean 1/2 the time, 4 games over 9,000, 4 games below 9,000.
  5. I don't think Roger would care for the fuss over his record. He was more concerned about his team winning. I would put a lot of money down that he didn't use anabolic steroids. Although I don't think the record will be restored, it is not being done as a joke, but out of respect to a great man. Besides, he still has the American League record for Home Runs in a season.
  6. Played for Grand Forks Central Redskins, better known as Luke Olson in those days. They won a state title with him. Lute Olson Link
  7. $36K bi-weekly is $78,000 per month, $936,000 per year. I know about 10 years ago, the Treasure Island parents would get $500 per month to raise the kids until they are 18. The rest went into a trust fund.
  8. I am in very much favor of the Twin Cities Casino plans that would benefit out-state tribes. Mystic Lake members are rumored to get $100,000 per month, Treasure Island $10,000 per month. I think they could survive on half that in the Mystic Lake case.
  9. Thanks for the link. I was watching live last night, simply amazing in that circumstance. State Championship game, overtime, WOW.
  10. I am happy with Grafton/Mayville rotation. Why are these not adequate facilities? The only complaint I heard was homerism in Grafton. Walhalla or Pembina or Neche are closer to a larger metropolitan area, then any other towns in the region, the edge of North Dakota maybe, but not exactly on the edge of civilization.
  11. What's the distance from Griggs County schools to Mayville every other year? Wahalla would have the 100+ mile trip every year to Grand Forks, instead of every other year. It's still approx 70 miles to Grafton from Wahalla. Would the Betty charge for parking? Why do you need leather seats if you are standing and cheering?
  12. Some fans would have to travel 80 or 100 miles to Grand Forks for a regional. How far is Walhalla? Wouldn't the schools closests to Grand Forks have an advantage for fan attendence?
  13. Another reason I am opposed to holding the tourney in the Betty is location. Rotating the Region Tourney between Mayville, Grafton etc, helps balance travel for the fans and schools in the region. Grand Forks is over 100 miles for some people to travel for the tourney. With the rotating Regional, fans from all over are able to attend the games in various years, instead of a majority being from the Grand Forks vacinity.
  14. I got your point, just wanted to keep the facts straight. Another thing, if the 1990's were a long time ago, I am a really old fart.
  15. I know "YOUR TEAM" is the best, but here is a little history for you Cratter. NDSU & SDSU never moved up to Division II from DIII or NAIA like Upper Iowa etc did. So they were not replacing anyone in DII. The DII women's basektball Championship started in 1982. Montana has been DI since 1978, Akron since 1980, Sac St since 1992 (Never won a Women's title & NDSU's 1st was 1991). NDSU did win 2 titles on neutral courts. I have no doubt the NCC is more balanced. Not as many 35 point leads at the half anymore. Good luck to UND in the tourney.
  16. I agree, the Regional Class B Tourney's should be at a high school gym.
  17. Who do you play for?
  18. Congrats to the UND women for their successful season.
  19. FYI, the Bison women have a game tomorrow, and the Mavs men are still playing.
  20. I have a couple questions about your response TS. How many UND fans live in Fargo? How many season tickets does UND sell for football?
  21. My point being, $2 extra for a game vs $11 extra for a game. Which is more of a rivalry?
  22. Wasn't it $11 extra to see the Bison
  23. Official 2000 Census, US Metropolitan Areas 1. New York City 21+ Million 3. Chicago 9+ Million 182. Fargo-Moorhead 174,367 280. Grand Forks 97,478 282. Bismarck 94,719 These are all just numbers, what it all comes down to is personal preference.
