If we make a bet, how many points are you giving me?

Sounds like a Sid Hartman quote. Last year Minnesota beat unranked I-AA Western Illinois 37-21. Not expecting a Bison win, but it won't be a 57-3 blowout.

North Stars

I meant football of course. The Bison didn't fare as well, going 0-4 vs the Gophers.

I have been to non-Minnesota Big Ten games, Big 12, ACC, Pac 10, and Big East games. Minnesota isn't the cream of the conference, but it's would be one game on the schedule that isn't a 3.5 hour drive for me as a season ticket holder. It is also a good payday for NDSU. I would hope the Bison would be competitive. Maine was a I-AA team that defeated a I-A team last year in Mississippi St. I-AA Furman took Pitt to the limit also, losing 41-38. Troy St is a I-A team now. The Sid Hartman shot was low, but he thinks the Gophers would win 55-0 or whatever. I always wondered how the Bison or Sioux would do against the Gophers.

I have lived in all three too, Fargo, GF and the Cities. None have been boring. You can't compare ND cities to Minnesota Cities, ND cities are much better Minnesota Nice is over-rated I think you will find people outside of Fargo that will care about the Gopher game. There are several thousand NDSU grads that live in the Twin Cities to start with

True, just ask Mark McGwire. He's gone from a 1st ballot Hall of Famer to ??, over his steroid denial testimony.

Maria Sharapova

Maris still has the record, the American League record of 61. I do think Maris has a lot more respect for hitting 61, because of the steroid scandal. I don't think they would ever overturn the steroid induced records though.

True, I like Grand Forks.

It's not a very reliable poll if people are allowed to vote more than once.

When DII started 30+ years ago, NDSU and UND were with peer institutions. Since then approx 75% of these schools are no longer DII, a majority being DI. Both Universities played Big Sky schools regularily. What changed over the 30+ years?
-
I'll put it this way, as to stop the smack. NDSU and UND are Peer institutions NDSU & UND = Minnesota more than NDSU & UND = Upper Iowa or Mary. And it's not just in Athletics.

A couple UND recruits helped in the route North Dakota BEATS Montana In Badlands Bowl At Whitney Stadium Saturday, North Dakota looked like a team posessed in the annual Badlands Bowl. They scored on their first 6 possession and hung on to win 52-29. Mandan's Chris Leer caught the first touchdown of the game on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Tim Oskendahl and on their next possession St. Mary's Jeff Tescher outjumped the Montana secondary for their second score. Jon Samuelson of Bismarck High ran 6-yards for another touchdown running the score up to 21-0. After a 45-yard field goal by Brandon Hellevang, Ryan Chappelle of Grand Forks Central made the play of the game, cutting back several times across the field on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Oskendahl making it a 31-0 game. Chance Kraft of Minot scored the final touchdown of the half for North Dakota on a one-yard plunge. It was 39-0 at that points, and ND hung on to win it 52-29, the first win for North Dakota in the last eight years.

They acted tough in the endzone prior to the game. CSP lost 58-24, they scored the last two TD's in the waining minutes of the game. That being said, I agree they would be a legitimate school for the NCC. They still are not on par in football with UND, UNO or SCSU.

I honestly don't think NDSU would play basketball downtown. Cost and distance from the students are two big negatives. A remodeled BSA will work just fine until I win the lottery.

See that Chad Mustard has a tryout for the Browns

I see Bowenkamp was signed as a Free Agent by the Viking.

Good info, Thanks. Bemidji St is interesting, do they have the funding to compete in the NCC? I don't hear them mentioned often as a candidate. It's a long way to Omaha, but they do have hockey.

Does anyone know the schools that originally voted against Upper Iowa for admission to the NSIC? The "No" votes could be possible members for the NCC.
