Tradition who cares about that. Seems to me neither Roger Thomas or Gene Taylor. Roger could have kept them on the schedule and yes it would have been alittle harder making the playoffs. Win the confrence and your in the playoffs. Gene Taylor did he want to keep playing because of tradition or to fill out a schedule? I'm sure it was to fill out a schedule. If the two teams would have kept playing would the Bison have been the ones to stop the series? They give alot of detailed excuses why they can't play UND now. Both schools will be fine with or without the game. It seems UND has put out an olive branch to Mr. Taylor. He refuses to sign a contract. In my opinion SU won't play becauses it puts UND on a par with SU which we are but they don't think so. So much for tradition.

UND is comfortable in the Alerus Center. Alot of unknows about this years FB. team. Will coach K. get the defense to play better. Will the young QB's play as well as they did in the first game. One thing we do know our wideouts are game changers. If the score is close in the 4th quater we have a good shot at winning. One of our wideouts makes big play at the end of game for the upset. Note to the coaches 3 things that I think SDSU will do on Saturday pooch kick on kickoffs', kick out of bounds on punts and to take a page out of NDSU's and run alot of screens to Zenner. Account for the runningback in passing downs. But I'm sure there game plan to have long time comsuming drives to keep the ball out of UND's playmakers hands. SDSU has a bonaide FCS playoff type defense so great test for our young QB's. Looking at the games they play this month it could be a tough month for them if they leave the AL with L .I get the feeling they are not looking forward to this game.

Robert Lewis Former Director of the English Department passed away last Monday at age 82. If you had him as a Professor you know what a treasure he was to UND. He had alot of hobbies and he was proably best known for being a cofounder and 2 time President of the Ernest Hemmingway Society. I met Bob playing noon basketball at Hyslop. When we weren't playing and standing on the sidelines he was a very interesting man to listen to. I'm glad I got to know him a bit. RIP Bob.

They at SU are scheduling geniuses. K State may not recover from this loss this year. Then again K State may be down this year. Fun game to watch. K State hardly blitzed in the game. You would think K States d backs coud cover SU's receivers in man coverage. They gave Jensen a 4 a year starter to much time.

Do you think Bohl just won the lottery. Are the big boys gunna be calling. After this senior class leaves SU are they just going to reload or take a few steps back? But this year is just starting for them and conference games are always a dogfight. They may loose a few games. And it doesn't hurt Bohls chance of moving up when Joey Harrington says SU is as good a coached team as he has seen.

UND 48 Valpo 21. The defense gave up over 5 yards a carry in the spring game if I remember correctly. Has the defense really improved? Let's hope so and they make us all proud a pitch a shutout.

When Northern Colorados head coach was Kay Dalton he said about the Alerus- I like it I like it alot. Dalton has quite a resume and I see he is still an offensive consultant for No. Col. 50 years of coaching. They will move the ball.

Has Bohl said if Beck will play against K State? There is a young man from Langdon who delivers beer to our bar. I asked him if he knew Beck. He said he did and he played football with him in Langdon. I asked if he was hot headed. He said no. He said Beck was a good guy. Then he tells me he talked to Beck earlier that evening of the fight and everything was fine. It seem like the more bad press SU gets on anything the more they rally around there Football Team. Question- Have the Gophers told the Bison they will not schedule them anymore in football. Or are the Gophers still playing the Dakota schools. Will UND be included in the rotation if they still are. And NDSU would take any school off there schedule if it hurt there playoff chances.
