  1. I'll assume you are just bitter that the game was not remotely competitive.  It's okay. You'll be okay.

Even if the game had been remotely competitive that is a bad decision by 87 and a very dangerous play at best.  Shouldn't be ignored and the fact that the kid feels bad doesn't do anything.  The time for considering that is before you make the decision to do what he did.

  2. Initial hit , the blockers shoulders are above Arnells waist. I don't think this was "dirty".  Looks like it could have been blocking from behind. I don't believe this was a cheap shot. Kid trying to make a play. Arnell was trying to turn back into the runner as he was hit from behind by the AC kid.  I would like to see the X-ray but I would bet $100 the fracture occurred due to the combination of those forces more so than a direct blow to his knee or leg.  I believe at most their guy blocked from behind but this was an unfortunate incident more than a cheap shot.  Time to move on.  Prayers for a quick recovery.

The shoulders might have been above the waist (not convinced myself) but 87's movement was downward and toward his knees and legs as he made contact.  That play is very dangerous (and against the rules) and a player needs to recognize that and pull up.

It would have been different if he had been closer and able to deliver a blow to his back that pushed him forward.  That is merely a block in the back.  That play he made has a high likelihood of hurting someone as you roll down into his legs.  It was really a bad decision and Arnell get's to pay for it.

  3. It is amazing you can tell the intent of a player from a video board replay.

    In reality you can't.

You're argument is the same as me saying I saw UND defenders punching our O-Linemen in the groin on the ground after the whistle was blown (that is as dirty as it gets).

Finally, someone tell Cole Reyes to take his hat off during the post game presser.  That is low-class sore loser action.

Deflect all you want about someone wearing a hat but it doesn't change anything about that play.  Lowering a shoulder into the back of a players legs is dangerous and against the rules for that reason.   Anybody that is being honest knows that is a dirty play at worst and a very poor decision at best.   It was a spur of the moment decision but a very bad one.  There is no place for that in a football game.  To say otherwise is disingenuous or a complete lack of understanding of sportsmanship and football in general.

  4. I have not seen the video, it would be great if you could post it.  The photo that was posted shows nothing.  It is a snapshot during a fast moving series of events, and none on of us can say from one photo if it is a dirty play.  Don't make accusations without some type of evidence, it makes you seem like a sore loser.

I don't have the video. Maybe you can find it.  I watched the game on line and couldn't record it.  I did watch it live and the saw the replay right afterward and posted that it was an intent to injure at that time.  Not sure what other evidence you are looking for.

It has nothing to do with who won the game or being a sore loser.  It was a bad decision on a players part that broke another players leg.

  5.  it is terrible that he was injured, but no need to accuse the opponent of a dirty play.

Ducked his head and and rolled up into the back of his knees.  That is the definition of a dirty play and players know that is off limits.  If don't know that you have no idea how the game is played.

A guy that played with me had a WR do that to him and tore his ACL.  There were NFL scouts at our practices looking at him up until that time and it ended his career.

  6. Go back and watch the play where the UND safety got hurt. You can just catch the NDSU player as he dove at back of the leg just below the knee. That's why the foot was at a 45 degree angle from where it should be.  Complete punk a** play. If Kleiman had a pair he would sit the D Bag for a minimum of 2 games.

I posted the same thing yesterday right after it happened but was watching on line and couldn't watch it again to be sure. The fool announcers made an excuse for the SU player and said his momentum took him into Arnell and he couldn't stop.  That looked like BS to me.   Any thoughts on a hit with intent to injure?  CAS?

  7. Just wait until we have a new nickname, guys!  That's clearly what's holding us back today.  If we had a Sundog on our helmet, I guarantee we'd easily be leading this game.ir

same as if we had a Sioux logo on our helmets.  Nothing changes.  Dumb

  8. I am really looking forward to this game! IMO all the back and forth is fun and should be taken as such. In the end its all about the game. Lets have a clean and well played game by both teams. I also wish no injuries for either side. I wish you Good Luck tomorrow.

If you see a yellow trailer with a picture of the Bison in a tunnel waiting to come out on the back tailgate that my trailer. Stop in to our tailgate and enjoy some good food and banter.

Rows D and E spots 19-25. Close to the porta pottys.

hoping for same and thanks for offer.  I would come by but am stuck in twin cities this weekend.

  9. Ya, its a shame that NDSU doesn't have cutting sports and decimating what they offer on the table like UND.  What a great lever that is!!  Maybe they could cut coaches salaries further too, lots of great options for UND.

or we could cut scholarships for women to 30% of total like NDSU rather than being close to 50% like we have today.

  10. We were 18 pt favorites last weekend and look what happened. Throw in the fact that we offer scholarships and this is a rivalry game and the spread becomes meaningless.

When will you learn that this isn't a rivalry.  Just because it fits everybody's definition of a rivalry doesn't make it one per some.

  11. So what is UNDs plan?

I have replied to that numerous times.  I don't know and neither do you.  why does that lead you to believe they haven't been working on something and don't have a plan?

On a side note - all of this conversation started with me posting that both schools are moving forward with COA and that is good for both.  We should find something else to fight about.  You were the first to reply and agreed with me.   What changed?

How can this turn into a peeing contest?

UND is paying FCOA this year for Men's and Women's hockey.   NDSU announced they will do the same for all of their scholarship athletes next year.  UND made a similar announcement a few days later.  The ND schools are 2 of 3 in the country to do so.

We must have better things to fight about.

You would think so. But civil discourse is lost on some.

  12. It's a hell of lot better than none.  Talking about it and having a plan - two different things.

where do you get your info that there is no plan at UND?  please fill us in - or is it just that you haven't been informed of it?.

There are a lot of things that exist in the world that you don't know about.  That doesn't mean they don't exist, only that you don't know .

for instance - The president of Singapore is Tony Tan Keng Yam.  Bet you didn't know that but he does exist.

  13. Whatever makes you sleep at night.  Fact is Faison went into this the same way UND did in jumping to DI in all sports.  No actual plan, just the arrogant view that if NDSU can do it we can surely do it.  How'd that work out?

I guess what surprises me is that you would believe that this is new to UND and they have no plan.  There were articles from last spring, I think, where both ADs were asked about COA.   Both NDSU and UND said they were studying it and the general feeling from the article was that UND was further along in their plans.  That may or may not be true but how do you get to "no actual plan"?

NDSU has revealed their plan and it is that they have 1/2 the money for 3 years from some big donors and are trying to raise the rest.  That's pretty thin as far as a plan goes.

  14. You are right that UND didn't get plans together in a few days. They still don't have any idea how they are going to pay for it, which sports are getting chopped, or If they are going to pay for all sports. Faison was pressured by all coaches to announce right away to lessen the effect on recruiting. There is ZERO chance UND would have announced FCOA if NDSU hadn't announced when they did.

    and you know this how?

I have as much inside info as you do.  There is ZERO chance that NDSU would have announced FCOA when they did if UND hadn't already done it for two of their sports.

  15. UND is DI, because Ndsu is DI.  UND is offering COA for all sports, because NDSU announced it.   And you are criticizing USD for just following with out a plan?  UND would be hockey only and feeling good about it for COA, if it weren't for trying to keep up with NDSU.

Or............NDSU offered COA because UND did it first with with our hockey teams.    See how that works.

And if UND hadn't built a $13 million indoor practice facility NDSU wouldn't have built one either - oh wait.  I guess UND does invest in things independent of NDSU.

There is no way UND got plans together in a few days.  Things were already in the works when NDSU announced.

And who the hell mentioned USD?

  16. I wanted to see what the collective thoughts were here, as there had been mention of this (you can't deny that).  We had a poster on BV that suggested, or actually flat out stated, that as long as everything is between the whistles and legal, as in allowable tackle, anything goes, including tackling someone low if there is a known ankle issue or going for a bad shoulder if there is a knows dislocation issue.  My reply is that it was effing BS, dirty and cheap, even if all legal.  I maintain my position.

I think you can relax.  I agree with you what was suggested here was BS but I don't think Bubba and his staff are taking direction from people posting in a chat room.

You never know what players will do in the heat of the moment.  I remember watching Phil Hanson body slam the UND QB long after he had pitched the ball and gladly took the 15 yard penalty.  It clearly looked like an attempt to injure or at least intimidate.  I doubt he was coached to do that.

  17. The end of the game gaffe was cause by the offense, not the defense. If we can manage a couple first downs then Drake goes away quietly. Instead, we couldn't move the ball on the ground and they, hopefully, scared a little life and desperation into our young team.

As a side note, I'm happy that we had this result and NDSU dominated Weber. We're coming in hungry and humble and they're coming in fat and happy after restoring order.

agree on both points.  Fumbled snap was a killer too

  18. Sorry to you people who saw a "Mussman team" out there but I didn't. They tackled and played defense. Drake was 0-13 on third down at one point, a hallmark of a Mussman team was being horrible on third down and not being able to get off the field. Let's stop with the Mussman team comments just because the game wasn't fun to watch.

sorry but I saw what I saw and that was a team that played very poorly in 2nd half.  I agree that it wasn't to the muss level but parts of the game were mussmanesque

Too many mistakes late when all we had to do was be average and if we did Drake had no chance.   If drake was 0-13 on 3rd down at one point and finished 3-17 they were 3-4 late and we didn't get off the field on 3rd down.

I also want to say that I am a big Bubba fan and of what he is doing.  He is turning things around  and we will get there but it isn't an overnight fix.

  19. Disappointing game yesterday. It did remind me of Muss era teams.  After Wyoming I though we had made a great leap forward. It was like a 1 step forward and 2 back.  It takes a long time to build a football team.   I'm sure Bubba will get their attention this week.
