  1. My brother was in Fargo at a Fargo North basketball game.  Said the place went silent after the fb game was final.

My son is at the Betty for the UND basketball game and there was a roar when the game ended even though there was no announcement.

Is it weird to think that even with this little time and that far to go that NDSU still has a shot to pull this out?

not at all.  I figured they would still pull it out until just now

I Googled und hockey fan...first image is not a flattering portrayal of your university

Pictures are worth a thousand words, right?

Two words...........Lakes Bison.   I don't know of any UND fan (or any fan anywhere) whose behavior reaches anywhere near his level.  Visit a fan site of any team that UND plays and you will find him spewing hatred and baseless accusations.

That is a sad bunch over there.  Reading that thread......classy.

I read a few posts regarding JJ on Bisonville and then wished I hadn't.   It goes on for 47 pages and now most say they didn't want him because he committed to UND.

Some of the posts are kind of disturbing,  It is so bad that one poster who knows the family told the others to go F*$% themselves.

I live in Omaha and would recommend staying at any of the hotels in Aksarben Village from a pure convenience standpoint. Hotels, bars, restaurants, the UND pregame party, and of course the arena are all within walking distance. My folks always come for the series and stay in Aksbaren now that the Mavs play at the Baxter instead of downtown at the Century Link and really like it because you don't have to drive at all once you get to town. There are more places to eat/drink downtown, but not as much of a hockey crowd/energy since UNO changed venues. Either way, Omaha is an easy place to get around and we have both Uber and Lyft as well. Happy to be the Omaha concierge for anyone who has general questions. I hope to see lots of green again this year! Safe travels.

thanks for the input.  much appreciated.

This game is tough to get over. A missed opportunity for UND football. The program obviously needs to move on and get ready for a big 2017.

One last depressing note that to my knowledge hasn't been mentioned yet: if UND would've beat Richmond and then beat Eastern Washington, UND would've hosted the semi-finals at the Alerus Center ...

    wow, what could've been ...

I have been trying not to think about that.  Thanks for bringing it up :(

I didn't book my plane tickets to Salt Lake City this far out just to see UND "hang with Utah." I'm excited for 2017 and what this team can become. Who wants to join me at Rice-Eccles next September to cheer on a Hawks win?

That really sounds like fun.  We are planning on the Southern Utah game on Nov 4.  Fly to Vegas and drive the 2 hours or so to Cedar City.

I was talking to a Minnesota recruiting guy and I asked if Boltmann was comparable to Studsrud, and he said that was a very good comparison.  So I'd say maybe he'll be ready to run the squad when Studs is gone.  Would love to see Heidelbaugh develop, though.

I watched Boltmann play once this year and thought he is comparable to Studsrud also.   Very similar style.  I thought Boltmann threw the ball well for a HS player

Start filling your stadium and you won't have to worry about defending your fan support.

You asked what our attendance would have been had we been outside. We weren't outside - we were inside so it doesn't matter.  That seems reasonable.

Nothing about defending fan support.  Just defending the decision to build an indoor facility which seems like a good idea.  Fargo has one also so I am sure you support that.  It makes a difference in attendance when the weather gets cold. SDSU had the same option and chose not to for whatever reason.

Honestly, what do you think the attendance at UND's playoff game this weekend would have been had it been played outdoors in bad weather? We do know that SDSU attracted 5,000+ more fans than UND during the regular season, that is an apples to apples comparison.

It really doesn't matter because we didn't play outdoors in bad weather.  SDSU could have built an indoor facility also but didn't.  We shouldn't have to apologize for that.

Well to trying and compare attendance between games being played in a dome against a game being played outside during a snow storm and cold temps is a stretch in itself. Then throwing in a hockey game to boot is---well---amusing.:D

I would normally agree regarding the hockey game but in this case I think the hockey game took a number of fans from the football game.  If we had 7,000-8000 people in NY I have to believe that we could have counted on at least 1,000 of them to be at the football game had they been in town.  I am only guessing but 1/8 being willing to go to the fb game seems reasonable.

    Missed opportunity with the students??

What more do they need to understand how important they are?  $1000's of dollars were donated by fans like us to get them to the game.  Do they need rides next year too?

I thought the students were great and based off Richmond's players and coaches reactions after the win, both groups making a point to come back and talk smack to the student sections, I'd say the students had plenty of fun during the game.

They sure did for the first time in many, many years.  A win and having the season continue would have gone a long way toward sustaining that for the future.  We gained a lot with that game but we would have made more strides if football had stayed in the news with a long playoff run.  Just a missed opportunity in my opinion. My son and his friends are on board. I was talking about the students who are fringe fans.

It has nothing to do with donated tickets or rides to the game.  I donated tickets myself and hosted a bunch of students at our tailgate party and we all had a great time but most of them have been there all year.  We did rope in 2 or 3 that hadn't been there for many games

  13. My son is a current student. He pointed out what a missed opportunity it was.  Got a bunch of students to the game and interested. Could have built on the feeling that it was fun and that they contributed to a win. Move on in playoffs and raise fb's profile.
