    2018 Season

Me too. I committed to the hockey tix, hotel and airline tix before the fb schedule came out.
  2. You definitely have options. Don't read the Herald and don't follow Schlossman and you should be in good shape.
  3. The women's golf coach resigned and is done June 30th. That is not speculation. it is a fact. She is the only female head coach at UND so at that point UND will have no female head coaches unless they hire one before that date. I find it noteworthy and leads me to believe that UND will almost certainly hire a female coach. Secondarily they will want to have someone in place before June 30th so they aren't 1 of 2 universities that don't have any female head coaches. That is the reading comprehension part and what most people would take from the article. You apparently want to pick the article apart to prove a point about Schlossman or the PC world we live in. You found a way to do that but I am telling you what I got out of the article and I found it interesting. As far as I know funding for UND has not stopped and Brad Berry hasn't resigned but maybe I missed that. The only female head coach at UND will be done in just over 3 weeks. That is indisputable.
  4. A portion of the article is below. As of June 30th, UND will no longer have a single female head coach in its athletic department. Martinson has been the only one for the last five-and-a-half years since Kristen Gay was let go as head coach of the women's soccer team. According to Herald research, UND will at least temporarily join Arkansas-Pine Bluff as the only NCAA Division I schools without a single female head coach. There are approximately 350 Division I schools. I see a fact and context - both for UND's situation and nationally. He could have added to the end of the first sentence - unless UND hires a female coach befor June 30th. I guess I was able to fill in that part for myself based on the first and third sentences. He even says temporarily join Ark-PB.
  5. I tried to use the Red Pepper a number of times over the last 10 years to cater grinders for an annual event at UND. Nothing fancy, just pre-make the grinders and bring them to us and collect your $1200 - $1500. We made it work a 2 or 3 times but they were never easy to work with and didn't have much interest in our business. The last time we tried they strung us along for a couple of months by telling us to call back in a week and then turned us down. I finally gave up and used Rhombus guys pizza truck and another local food truck. They were both great to work with and we are happy to have moved on.
  6. The floor looks great. My only contention is that if UND (which includes the coaches, AD and president) agreed on a design, that is what we should have. Whether it ends up being right or wrong, they should still have that say.
  7. or, in other words...........the rest of the university doesn't matter as long as hockey has been taken care of and you better not mess that up.
  8. Here is my limited manifesto on the nickname, logo and floor at the Betty. My understanding from those that deal with MK regularly is that he can be difficult to deal with. He needs to figure out how to maintain a relationship with a large donor like KEM. I am not a big fan of the nickname or the logo but they are what we have and I support both. Fighting against them serves no purpose in my mind. I was a huge supporter of the Sioux name and wanted to fight the good fight but it got too harmful for the university to continue with it. It sounds like the agreement with REA is written to say that it exists for the betterment of UND (or something like that). If that is true then the REA should honor the wishes of the men's and women's bb teams, the vb team, the AD and the president in deciding what is at mid-court at the Betty.
  9. Fighting Hawks gear has a decent foothold with people at football games and when tailgating. When many of those same people head to a hockey game night (and it can be the same day) they think twice about wearing it in the arena because it has not been accepted there. I know I consider changing to Sioux gear and usually wear a mix of both.
  10. That’s fair but don’t underestimate the impact of the hockey staff not buying into the new name and logo. The hockey crowd is taking a lot of their direction from them. Most coaches got on board early and tried to make the best of the situation and that helped with acceptance by those fans and at those games. Berry was noticeably silent. A little chicken and egg going on here again.
  11. I think the fact that the hockey team (and therefore the hockey fans) have rejected the name and logo plays into this too. Hockey is the highest profile sport at UND and it makes sense that a majority of business owners that co-brand with UND are banking on the hockey team. They know the hockey crowd (in general) won't embrace anything with the Hawks logo on it.
  12. FB alumni raised the money for new lockers and they are supposed to be easily transferred to the HPC when it is ready. The price was $2k/locker if I remember right and we could pay it over 3 years and split it with others. We also got a small plate on the locker with names, position and years played. My dad and I split one. They may already be over at the HPC already but I lost track.
  13. You are correct. I finally told him he was an ass and I was tired of hearing it. He stopped then.
  14. My experience is that this normally goes the other direction. there are a lot more und hockey only people than there are anti-hockey I live 5 hours away but go to 4-5 fb and 4-5 hockey games each year and see a few bb and vb too. Serial tailgater and been to fb National championship game and 2 frozen fours to see und so pretty active fan across the board. I don’t remember having a fb fan tell me they don’t care about the hockey team or are anti-hockey. Can’t count the number of hockey fans who told me they don’t care about any team other than hockey. One guy I used to work with enjoyed telling me that he never missed a hockey game in college but never saw a minute of football and he knows I played fb when we were in school.
  15. Thanks. I didn’t realize that you were referencing the Engelstad FF vs. the REA foundation. I still thought I heard that a chunk of the locker room updates came from REA holdbacks. Maybe not true
  16. And the Engelstad Foundation gets it's money from operating the REA and ticket revenue from other sports on campus. So saying the money came from a private donor might be technically true, but in name only.
  17. Honest question. I thought the $3M for hockey locker room reno came from money held back by REA for building improvements which in turn would have decreased money back to UND over the years. Any truth there?
  18. Wondering what your baseline is a fb fan. Or maybe looking to justify why you don’t care about the fb program? How many UND fb games did you attend last year?
  19. I believe we actually added a big Sioux logo at center court during the RT regime and removed it before the basketball season because of complaints from the Native American community for the reasons you state above. My memory is getting foggy but I believe this is right.
  20. Isn't this the point of Kennedy's contention with REA? Per reporting: REA took in $4.6M in hockey ticket revenue and after splitting and subtracting costs gave about $800k back to UND. That's a really nice number but considering REA took 52% of fb ticket revenue ($400k? ) the impact to UNDs bottom line starts to shrink
  21. The difference is that UND Men's BB, Women's BB, Volleyball, the president and AD all weighed in with what they wanted at center court and the arena managers refuse to do it. The coaches also say that is what the players want and I don't have reason to doubt them. Kennedy has a responsibility to find a way to get along with our largest donor but McGarry and and the REA come off as really petty in this instance. McGarry also looks fairly disingenuous when comparing her statements to the Herald and the emails uncovered through FOIA request
  22. True or not true wasn't the point. Your comments were intended to explain how hockey is superior to other sports. If you don't see that your comments stoke fan base division I can't help you.
  23. You accuse UND-FB-FAN of stoking fan base division and then follow up by insulting the football and basketball programs and say deal with it. Your recent posts position you as the poster child for driving fan base division.
