UND wins the next two at home handily, makes it interesting enough in Brookings in a loss, 5-6 to end the season and the coaching staff stays firmly intact. Lather, rinse, repeat for 2022.

God forbid we get some bright, young, ambitious coach that becomes wildly successful here only to *gasp* leave Grand Forks after four or five seasons. Hire someone along those lines, someone who leaves the program in a better state than which they found it. Talk to some of the old timers here about their time with Gene Murphy, I bet they wouldn't trade those two years for the world. Granted, Gene was a promotion from the inside. Screw this "we're in a position to win games". You are what your record says you are.

To your point, I'm really starting to wonder if Chaves will be the guy leading the search for a new direction in FB this time next year, with a new president on board and settled in. Yes, I do think there will be a search after the 2022 season, sorry to be negative that's just how I see the tea leaves.
