  1. There were more than 2 other Bison guys there at Pro Day and the scouts saw them, Mayock from the NFL Network mentioned Haeg and Smith on his reports on air, Haeg is being called a top 100 pick by some national media people. When is the last time a ND college had 2 top 100 picks in the NFL Draft? NDSU will have at least 6 players that will be in an NFL camp this spring. I don't think they care if the Media focused on Wentz. Thanks for your concern about NDSU athletes though.
  2. When is the last time a player or school from ND was mentioned on National TV every day for 3 month straight? You will hear Carson Wentz and North Dakota State talked about on ESPN and the NFL Network, among others, every day from now until the draft. Actually from the combine until the draft. Like it or not, this is the biggest nationally covered sports story in recent history. The only other one that would be close is Maris's 61 in 61.
  3. Maybe if Phil Jackson acknowledged he was from ND that would be the case. You could probably ask all of the National NBA broadcasters from ESPN, TNT and NBATV and 95% of them wouldn't be able to answer where Jackson went to college or his home state.
  4. It sounds like he will be able to audition in front of all 32 NFL teams on Thursday in the Fargodome. And on live national TV. The NFL Network will be televising NDSU's pro day live on Thursday AM. It should help all players at the Pro Day to be exposed to every team. It sounds like there will be some Head Coaches and GM's there also.
  5. A classic is questioning the character and integrity of a coach that suspended his leading scorer for the most important game of the season when his favorite team has a coach that blames his players and everybody else except himself for losses and get broadcasters suspended when they say something that hurts his feelings.
  6. Yes, it was a very good loss. I thought people on this board weren't into good losses, but I guess it depends who is the losing team. And it doesn't matter why NDSU turned down the invites to the 3 tourneys nobody cares about, it was the right move. When 2 of the 3 have to trim the number of teams because they can't get teams to play in them and you have sub 500 teams in them, maybe it is time to scrap them. Before NDSU and UND were eligible for the for real post season play, it was ok. Now it just doesn't matter.
  7. At least they got an all expensed paid trip to San Diego. UND got to plaÿ a meaningless game no one cared about, throw 40 grand down the toilet, and make their players stay in Grand Forks over spring break. Sounds like IPFW got the better deal.
  8. Cost of living is a lot lower in Grand Forks
  9. UND has the best Mid Major Freshman and the Mid Major player of the year and NDSU beat them in Grand Forks. Sounds like a pretty good coaching job to me.
  10. Not defending any player. Just think if you are voting for the better player who they play for shouldn't come into play. I would vote for Daum over any NDSU freshman also because he is clearly better. Why not vote for Jones for Mid Major coach of the year. He isn't the best coach but he does coach at UND. Shouldn't you vote for him? This is after all a UND fan site.
  11. Then maybe this should be in the Fire Jones thread. If you have the best freshman and the best player in the country and end up 18-15(or whatever it is) playing a Big Sky schedule, you are GREATLY underachieving.
  12. Faison has FCOA and continued high travel costs to worry about. He knows he can't find a competent HC for $100,000 a year. As long as Jones has a respectable record (around .500) he will keep him. My guess is he is saving at least $200,000 a year with the salary total of his Mens BB staff compared to other D1 staffs in the region. He would have to come up with that difference with a new staff. He won't do it unless he is forced to.
  13. But UND will be the only ND team to play post season basketball for the 5th (or however many it has been) year in a row. That is something for Jones to hang his hat on.
  14. That is how you get 8 KC Royals starting in an All Star game and the rules have to be changed. It is just a stupid when NDSU fans encourage going on some ESPN website and voting for the best fan base/game experience or whatever the poll of the day is. Let the awards be given out by impartial writers or coaches. Not saying it is just a UND thing, just saying encouraging someone to vote for someone just because you are a fan of their team is wrong.
  15. But Crandall doesn't deserve to beat Daum. Daum is by far a better and more valuable player than Crandall. Crandall averaged 10 pts, 4 rbs and shot 41% from the field and 30% from the 3-point range. Daum averaged 15 pts, 6 rbs and shot 56% from the field and 45% from 3. If you want to add FT's it is 82% to 73% in favor of Daum. Daum deserves to beat Crandall.
  16. It tells he has already decided to drop down to an FCS BSC and he is trying to save face by hinting there is a chance the BSC will go FBS. He is the first AD to drop his FB program from FBS to FCS and he has to give his FB fans (as few as there actually are by the drop FB campaign) a glimmer of hope they won't be dropping down. The Deputy Commissioner of the BSC was on Kolpack and Izzo on Saturday and they asked him about BSC to FBS. He didn't make it sound like anything there are seriously looking at. He made it sound like more of a pipe dream by a few than a movement by the masses.
  17. They will drop down to FCS in the Big Sky and keep football. If they and the BSC ends up moving to the 2nd tier (currently the G5 of the FBS) of college football, it will be at the same time as a major College Football realignment when the top 4 or 5 FCS conferences in the country will move up at the same time. This whole BSC to the FBS as it currently exists is just a bunch of BS from SV. Having Idaho in the BSC gives them zero advantage over the MVFC. And both conferences have equal numbers of teams that are both capable and incapable of making the move to the FBS in it's current form. If the rules are changed by the NCAA, it will open up the road for all FCS conferences to make the move, not just the BSC.They won't all make the move, but they will all have an equal chance to meet the new requirements. They aren't going to write new rules to allow only one conference to qualify as SV would have you believe.
  18. Yes, and when the NCAA and other FBS presidents see they are losing the football powerhouse Idaho, the first move they will make is call an emergency session to change the rules and do anything they can to keep them FBS. One FBS president was quoted as saying "If they can't compete at the FBS level, lets create an FBS conference they can compete in".
  19. NFL scouts are looking for talent not facilities. So to answer your question, it will never happen. It may host a UND pro day, and it most likely will someday, but it won't host the only pro day in ND.
  20. According to NFPOST.COM. it is up to the host school to allow the other schools players to attend. An interesting part of the pro days at the major schools is that there may be kids from the smaller schools in that state also working out. With so many workouts scheduled in such a short period of time it has become very difficult to get to many of the small schools. For this reason, the NFL allows players from lower level schools to work out at the large schools within that state. For example, a player from Eastern Illinois or Western Illinois can work out at the Northwestern or Illinois pro day. At the same time, a player from Northwestern cannot workout at Illinois’ pro day. The large school has to agree to let the small school players work out but in most cases it’s not a problem. Often the small school prospects work out after the major school prospects are done. It makes for a long day for scouts but it gives the clubs valuable information as well as saving valuable time. It’s also a value to the smaller school prospects because the small school may not have the indoor facilities that many of the major schools have. With this, the player gets to work out under very good conditions. As it says, it is usually not a problem, but it does look like the host school has the final say.
  21. #buttidaho... You are forgetting the BSC has the Idaho wildcard in their pocket. They are their magic ticket to the FBS. Never mind that the Big Sky schools can't even afford FCOA much less 22 more scholarships.

    2016 Season

I didn't think I said UND football was in the toilet now or wil be in the future. All I was saying is the when UND fans are saying they won't be caught off guard and affected by the Fargodome atmosphere the next time they play the is not true. None of the players in 2019 will have played there before and you can't prepare them without actually having been there before. And 2019 is the next time the are scheduled to play. Anytime before that is very speculative, even if both make the playoffs. I will take that bet if anyone wants it. Not that UND doesn't make the playoffs, because I think they will, but that they won't meet in the playoffs before 2019?

    2016 Season

The next time they play them there will be nobody on the UND roster that will have played in that atmosphere before. They won't be anymore prepared than this year. The staff has played in the Fargodome before but they couldn't seem to get the players prepared for it this year, so why will 2019 be any different? They will think it will be no different than playing in the Alerus, Walkup Skydome or Idaho's dome.
  24. Thanks for listening though. Surprising a UND fan would listen to a program about NDSU FB recruits. I thought UND fans were above that and it is only degenerative NDSU fans that paid attention to the others program.
  25. They list Brooks 15 lbs lighter than JJ, but I don't think there is that much difference. He is a back that doesn't shy away from contact and will run over you like JJ will. I don't know how happy he will be if he is just a short yardage back behind 2 sophomores. Agian, I am not saying it is going to happen and I knew he wasn't going anywhere at semester break. i know he will be going through spring ball, but I don't think the Gopher staff sees a future for him at RB. Personally, I think he would make a hell of a LB.
