Speaking of backs, is Sparks officially gone? I heard something about him heading toward California, but nothing official on what was happening with him.

I think a newbie PxP guy was part of it, though he did better than I expected (plus I graduated high school with him, so I don't want to bag on him too much). But I think the biggest problem for watching on TV was that they had the crowd mics turned way down. Even the band was quiet than usual. Maybe it wasn't great in person, either, but it was even worse on TV.

Why I have been hearing that the win tonight clinches a share of the cup? If UND loses tomorrow and SCSU wins, doesn't SCSU win the cup outright and get the 1st seed?

It hit the left pipe, then bounced over and off the white-padded pipe, not the cross bar. The white pipe only exists behind the crossbar, so it has to be across the goal line. Remember, the overhead view isn't directly overhead, it's slightly from behind.

Maybe it is on your end. I usually have a really nice HD picture. Just not tonight.

I was noticing the webcast seemed a bit lower quality tonight, too.

When did they change it to seeding the top 5? I thought it was top 4, then the matchups were random draw. Also, is the tournament a week earlier than normal? I thought it always lined up being the week before the first round the WCHA conference tournament.

There'd still be pressure on both teams on Saturday, though. If SCSU loses Friday and the Sioux win, but then Saturday is the opposite, we still tie for league champion (but yes, we get the #1 seed in the tournament). I want the trophy outright.

Yea, their webcast was pretty bad. Once I finally got it to load (after missing the first couple minutes), it worked alright for a while, but then was constantly freezing and buffering. Then at one point totally quit and didn't come back for a long time. Easy to understand with a free webcast, but definitely not something I paid $8 for.

What? Couldn't afford the $8 webcast?

This interview is painful. Over three minutes into the period now, time to cut him off and start calling the game again.

Anybody else having horrible buffering and video freezing issues? I don't have issues with any other webcasts, including UND's Neulion service, but this is horrible.

It wouldn't have to be amateurs, just anybody who isn't in the NHL. The amateur rule was an IOC rule. As soon as they started allowing professionals, things changed. This wouldn't be a change back to "no professionals", just that the NHL wouldn't allow their players to go. I would hope the NHLPA would fight against the change. The players love being there. Hopefully they love it enough to really fight for it.
