It wouldn't have to be amateurs, just anybody who isn't in the NHL. The amateur rule was an IOC rule. As soon as they started allowing professionals, things changed. This wouldn't be a change back to "no professionals", just that the NHL wouldn't allow their players to go. I would hope the NHLPA would fight against the change. The players love being there. Hopefully they love it enough to really fight for it.

If the puck didn't cross the goal line, then it was a skater who covered the puck, in the crease, to cause the whistle. Since he was in the crease, it should be ruled a goal.

That's kinda the definition of "the bubble", isn't it? Six wins puts us, in most scenarios, between 11 and 13. That's probably safe.

Looks like 5 wins puts us on the bubble, 4 would make it possible to make the tournament, but we'd need A LOT of help.

The only thing that makes them "the big boys" is their football program. Without that, nobody would refer to them that way. Sure, most have big student populations, but there are plenty of big-time football schools that don't have big student populations. So why should these school be referred to as "the big boys"? They are simple "one of the big boys of college football", just as UND, UMD and Denver are "the big boys of college hockey".
