  1. I'm wondering if that new paved road won't be a northward extention of Princeton Street. It wouldn't make much sense otherwise.

yea, and if I remember right (I never remember the street names on campus), isn't that the One Way North that goes by Squires Hall? That would mean an extension would go right in front of the Frat, chewing up part of their parking lot, and sharply increasing the traffic in front of their house. I wonder how that will go over.

  2. This translation is horrible, but it's the only translating program I could find. Apparently "Englstad" translates to "British." At least you can get the idea of what they're talking about.

  3. North Dakota State ended its decades-long association with the North Central Conference last weekend. But the Bison - one of the conference powers for decades - went out with two final championships, one at the expense of their rival.

I find it odd that it's the herald that points this out, but doesn't mention that we took the final victories in mens and women's basketball and football.

  4. The acoustics at the Ralph suck. They are just terrible. I have not heard a decent bit of good sounding music come out of anything except the built in speakers. For concerts it has got to be the worst venue in the area.

Either that, or the soundguys at the concerts have never heard of an EQ.

  5. Obviously, trying to take UND's lead on raising admission standards, Minnesota State Moorhead has anounced they will raise their standards for automatic admission. Not only does a potential student have to graduate in the top half of their class to gain automatic admission, now they also have to score a 17 on the ACT.

btw- This isn't a joke, it was on the news ;)

Actually, I just looked. MSUM is required a ACT Composite of 21 OR being in top 50% of your class.

  6. One of my professors did a study last year where he asked random bar admitted lawyers across the country to rate various law schools - he randomly picked them except UND and Princeton - less than 5% rated UND higher than Princeton. Princeton has never had a law school. ;)

Well that's the law school, that's totally seperate from the undergrad school, but I do see what you're saying. All this tells me is that maybe the law school needs to get their name out there a little more.

  7. How does U of M get around this? Are they really that easy to get into, as well, or do their athletes apply for appeal? If their athlete's do that, then they most likely won't have a problem doing it here, either.

According to U of M's website, their average ACT composite for last years freshmen was 28.1. Only 7% was below 24. (I couldn't find an ACT that is required for admittance.)

I just looked on UND's website. They already have the new ACT requirements listed on the website. THe new requirements still ONLY require an ACT Composite of 22, unless you are a ND resident, in which case you only need a 21.

So I don't understand how this could be so bad. There are obviously other schools that do ok with higher admission standards, so why would we have so many more problems than they have?

  8. What is changing it now going to change? Like you said, if it is truely inevitable that it is going to change, why would we have to change now? Is there something happening that the nickname/logo has to be established for in the coming years? No matter when the nickname changes (if it does) there will always be time to establish the "tradition" and there will always be awkward years before the nickname/logo is accepted and established.

  9. Maybe I'm just not seeing it, or maybe there's a lot that goes on off the ice, but Schneider just didn't seem like that big of a leader on the ice this year. I, personally, don't think he deserves a C next year.

This is a not a personal attack on Andy, just something I've noticed.

  10. Can somebody explain this rule to me? I don't understand how this is different from how it is now. If getting drafted means you lose your NCAA eligibility, how did Zach get drafted and still play another year?

  11. I think it would be cool to have it be amatuers just to see them all play together, but that's not likely to happen.

What would really be cool would be a west vs. east college game. Kinda like the all star game, except for hockey. Just to see the best college hockey players all play together would be really fun to watch. Especially since we don't often get to see players from across the country play very much.

  12. Can please elaborate on this stat? I just counted up (and if I was correct with my counting) and came up with a record of 21-4-2 when the Sioux allowed 2 or fewer goals. I'm not quite sure where you came up with any of that information.
