  1. Kolpack's my source. I probably have much too faith in him that he's right, but until I see something different it's all we have to go on. I tried to find the number on the NDUS site, but it's very difficult to find budget line item detail on that.
  2. This is spot on for the most part. I think one thing NDSU needs to do better is push the hall down the field. Carson Wentz could do that with average-to-good receivers in Urzendowski, Shepard, and Vraa, but that's a once in a lifetime thing. James Madison played single high safety all day and dared us to beat them and we couldn't. I'm hopeful Messingham might tweak a few things there.
  3. I think Polasek was a good oc, so that makes Messingham a grand slam hire imo.
  4. Well, Messingham still has tons of experience compared to Polasek now. Polasek was only OC for one year, and only at one school.
  5. I do as well. It's about finding the right kids when you go far out of your traditional recruiting area. Florida's been a goldmine for NDSU lately. Bruce Anderson, Tre Dempsey, Jaylaan Wimbush. I'd like to get back into Texas again. We had success there with Warren Holloway and D.J. McNorton.
  6. I wasn't as down on Polasek as most, but it's not like he's some offensive genius. I really like Messingham's experience. The NDSU offense really needs to find someway to push the ball down the field with the passing game.
  7. Polasek had 0 years experience coordinating at any level. Messingham has about 10, including for a quasi P5 team (it is Iowa State after all). I'm also excited about potentially recruiting Dallas/Ft. Worth, which is where he recruited for MSU. Like I said, at worse a wash, but I really think there's a better chance it's an upgrade.
  8. Cain mainly recruited out of the tri-state area. I doubt the area Williams will be recruiting in are regions where you guys normally recruit. We will have to shift some responsibilities over for Wisconsin, since that was Polasek's main responsibility.
  9. Messingham's a grand slam hire. He'll be a wash to a slight improvement over Polasek. I know less about Williams. He'll need to pull in the recruits like Cain could. That will take a few years to evaluate.
  10. What was Rudolph's record at Minot State before he came to the Hawks?
  11. Or it could be UND's overall athletic budget is running a deficit. Not saying they are, but that is a possible explanation
  12. But the pot of money that Bismarck sends to NDSU athletics is the roughly 2 million that Kolpack alluded to. Unless they're making them cut money allocated from tuition dollars.
  13. You're including tuition dollars, Kolpack's number is what is directly appropriated from the state. From what I understand, each university has flexibility in where they can appropriate their tuition dollars.
  14. If my username was was UNDgrad you wouldn't be coming back at me at all, but that's ok. I get it.
  15. Not really. The only gray area is what the NCAA determines to be a season ending injury, and like I stated before, they seem to be pretty lax on that qualification.
  16. This statement is beyond ridiculous.
  17. I think the NCAA is fairly lax on how they determine if an injury is keeping you from playing. Case Keenum separated his shoulder the summer before his redshirt year and even though it probably really didn't keep him from playing it was enough for the school to claim that's why he took the redshirt. In order to be granted a sixth year, you must miss two complete years (it's pretty clear how the NCAA defines a complete year) because of injury.
  18. The medical hardship are not as ambiguous as everybody seems to think they are. Unless Clives George can prove his redshirt year at UA was because of injury, he won't be getting a medical hardship either.
  19. There has to be an injury. In Clive Georges case he will not be granted a 6th year unless during his "regular" redshirt year it was deemed he had an injury that left him unable to play.
  20. This is correct. Iowa was the third game of the year and the game he decided he would still play even though he was having the surgery. Conincidentally, Izzo just tweeted his hardship was granted.
  21. Deluca never took a redshirt and played in less than the maximum number of games to qualify. There's no gray area there.
  22. hese might be some names to watch in ND. Tyrell Harris - Dickinson Chase Teiken, Brandon Metz, Zac Willis - West Fargo Colton Cook - Minot Hayden Reynolds- WF Shey Dillan Jepson - Killdeer Jackson Hankey - Park River Wyatt Carr - Hazen Calen Schwabe - Thompson Jake Ihland - Richland Cody Mauch - Hankinson Hofer Twins - Larimore I can't comment on a lot of the names, but Metz and Willis are NDSU commits, and I believe Colton Cook is walking on at SDSU. The lineman to watch for in the class of 18 is Logan Krueger out of Minot.
  23. Just took a quick peek at the Pepsi Rink. I was very pleasantly surprised. Much nicer than the the original renditions they had. That said it seats a it 1800, which is perfect for Minot, but wouldn't be enough to sustain a D1 hockey program.
