Old Time Hockey

The game kind of felt like Milwaukee 2006. Too many soft goals and constantly playing catchup. Seven game losing streak in the FF has to be a record. I guess I have become comfortably numb!

I too am numb to April hockey! I wanted this team to win for Hak more than anything. I really believe if he gets one, he will go on a roll like Gino did in the 80's. The problem is, how many FF will it take?

This sucks! We really have found just about every way to lose in April. I think it is safe to say we are now the ultimate chokers!

And for that you are in the majority. No nickname will be the majority over any nickname that has been presented.

Obviously there is a reason that Kelley would make such a statement. Maybe that reason is that many well known and respected alumni have made the comment that staying just North Dakota is more appealing than picking a nickname that few people will rally around. Maybe picking no nickname is the best way to hold onto the rich tradition and history that was built over the decades prior to most of us. If you don't believe me, ask folks like Gino, Roebuck, and Hakstol. I am sure they don't want the University to be named after one of the high schools in town.

Don't be bullied by the anti- no-nickname folks. No nickname would win in a landslide if it is allowed to be voted on. I think the right minds could market the hell out of being a state flagship university that doesn't have a nickname. We are North Dakota! Sounds a lot better than "here comes the University of North Dakota Aviators" or some other lame ass nickname! It's also a reminder that the PC police took our nickname if we choose to go without one. We can play by their silly rules, but it doesn't mean we don't have the right to be bitter about it.

Kelleys quote kind of blows holes through the theory that we have to chose a name based on the settlement with the NCAA. Come on Sicakota, Hayduke, etc. Fire away!

My guess is there are a lot more anti-hunting folks out there than anti-Sioux nickname people.

I would rather be known as the university that the NCAA took the nickname from rather than some lame nickname. Keep the blame on them and expose them as the hypocritical organization that they truly are. In time, the NCAA as we now know it will not exist.

Good post. Unfortunately, the sky is always blue folks always want to categorize people like us with the folks on the other extreme. Hak has proven himself as a quality coach. He has taken teams with less talent further than they should have gone. Unfortunately he has not won the big prize, which to some of us brings criticism considering the amount of talent that has come through the program during his tenure. Hopefully #8 comes soon so that monkey gets off his back.
