  1. That was the end of the MOIC's process. We had a little discussion about the start of it all here (note that the quotes are messed up in the very old messages). The process was basically launched by Saigo at SCSU; when he joined the MOIC at the NCAA, he saw an opportunity to take his anti-Sioux crusade national. Needless to say, he found a receptive audience. UND's initial reaction was to complete the mandatory self-assessment, which a lot of us thought would be the end of it all at the NCAA level.
  2. Nothing new emerges in UND Foundation-controlled litigation fund Nothing new to see here...
  3. The new APR Data came out two days ago. UND Men's hockey is up to 930. That's very bad, but just good enough to avoid sanctions (which kick in at 925).
  4. I think NanoBison might be out, better make that $235,400 each.
  5. The irony of these two sentences back-to-back is almost overwhelming.

    Idol Fan ?

I only watched for Haley Scarnato and Sanjaya -- this season has nothing for me anymore
  7. Stop with the nonsensical, intentionally poorly written, off-topic posts.
  8. Hmmm... I've now done extensive testing on this and haven't found any problems. The emails come from: "SiouxSports.com Forums" <ssadm06@siouxsports.com> It's possible that the emails are being kicked into your spam/bulk folder. I'll try sending you a PM and watch to make sure the email leaves the system on this end... update, the email definitely left siouxsports.com, destined for your inbox, and hasn't yet bounced.
  9. Mr. McFeely -- haven't we had this conversation before? We have a name, we have a URL, is it so hard to attribute correctly?
  10. 20 years from now we're all going to be comparing it to the Trail Blazers taking Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan...
  11. I couldn't decide whether to close this thread or post... but here it comes: .... .... .... wait for it .... .... .... Link
  12. Arlington just has MS-13 -- Arlington criminals prefer machetes to guns
  13. Check in My Controls > Email Settings (under options) to see if "send email on new PM" is checked. Second, make sure your email address is correct in the upper right of "My Controls". If both of those are right, let me know.
  14. In D.C. you can't possess a handgun that wasn't registered before 1976 (i.e. no 30 year old could legally own a gun). Further, if you happen to be old enough to have had a gun before the retroactive ban, D.C. law prohibits storing a gun in an operable condition, even in your home (i.e. useless for self-defense). Examining D.C. crime/murders to determine the effect on such of getting guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens is left as an exercise for the reader. Update -- DaveK's post reminded me that I didn't answer the question. Don't own any guns, but have no particular moral opposition.
  15. You can't be serious. While you no doubt did a fine job pointing one of the extremely rare instances of such a thing happening outside contemporary times, are you just trying to be a contrarian (good timing) or are you seriously trying to suggest that nothing has changed? Of the list you linked to, what proportion have been since 1970? What proportion since 1990?
  16. As a Virginian I honestly don't understand what has changed in the world. This didn't used to happen.
  17. If you think this is somehow Buning's fault, you weren't paying attention to the more than ample signs coming from the new REA, pretty much since its inception. That's not to blame anyone specifically at REA; rather, this is the reality of big-time college athletics, first ushered into North Dakota by the arrival of the new REA. However it was inevitable, regardless, as its happening everywhere in college athletics.
  18. OK, this is a known problem with this forum software. It has to do with deleting an unread message (not sure if that's the same as getting a message from someone on your "blocked" list or not). It is fixed in the next release, so as soon as that's available, I'll install it.
  19. Funny, I'll look into that. Your theory is a good one.
  20. I agree that it's a problem to be playing in a football arena we don't own (Alerus). In defense of Sioux boosters, It has been all over the Dakota Student, UND administration began just this year talking about future UND-owned stadiums, and it's been discussed on this board. Seeing the Vikings' & Gophers' problems makes it clear, no matter how great the deal in the non-owned facility seems now, limitations from the lack of control become a huge liability as things change and we cannot react. We need the ability to charge for parking and get to keep the money, or build new attraction X and get to keep the money, and so forth... The real reason it's not the hottest topic in this discussion is that there are much more pressing needs. The Alerus situation may not be perfect, but the things listed as "needs" and even "wants" above are probably higher on the list. I disagree on REA, though, and I think Carr errs in lumping it in with Alerus. REA isn't a multi-use facility seeking independent profit, it's primary mission is to benefit UND (despite some of the power conflict between REA and the athletics staff). UND will eventually own REA, outright (unless we change the name, first, and they implode it).
  21. No, no, you've already verbally committed to BisonSports.net. We wouldn't feel right letting you violate that...
  22. This is an interesting question -- is there demand for SiouxSports.com-hosted blogging? (Sioux-specific only, I mean, not trying to steal "di in fargo"s thunder ). Though trivial to implement on my end, I've always assumed that the ease and availability of platforms like Blogger and AreaVoices already captured most of the interested base. The benefits I can think of would be centralization, though we already can do multi-blog aggregation, as in the SiouxSports.com front page currently. I may try to expand the aggregation efforts into the sports pages, too, but if SiouxSports.com hosting holds additional appeal, let me know. Public reply or PM is fine. As a standalone question, this probably belonged in the "SiouxSports.com" forum, but it seemed apropos here.
  23. Some more details from the report in today's Herald article: They even answered my question about their (on the surface, absurd) prediction of 5% inflation:
  24. Thanks Pat -- I always appreciate seeing these.
  25. Discussion of the job performance of coaches, players, and administrators is welcome. These sorts of scurrilous personal attacks most certainly are not. I'm going to leave the thread open for now, but this better be the end of these untoward remarks.
