Ralph I had a rocking rep, but as someone who watched the first game there as a student, people thought that building was too civilized and quiet. Winning changed that. Different factors now: they win a lot, but web-in-your-pocket changed everything about people's distraction level.

So many factors affect a single player's scoring output, including his line's ability to cover defensive assignments (not just him) and confidence in the defense (including goalie) behind him. They're all part of a single weave.

Speaking of which: Does the goalie have to pay for the artwork on his helmet? What is the price range for that kind of work?

This does not surprise. It took him a couple of years to get up to speed in the NCAA. Once he got there, he was terrific, but it did not bode well for his NHL chances, IMO.

I've stayed out of this topic because I know far less about the subject than many here. But it seems to me we have no idea how Spicer personally interacted with staff on the question of when he would suit up and in what capacity. Online gossip, but no real idea how he approached the situation. That is not a controlling factor, but it is a consideration if I'm coach, especially balanced against another year from two mature players who have proven to be solid on the ice and very good in the locker room. But if UMD finishes ahead of UND in 22-23, I say we fire Berry and hire a guy who will win natties every 5 years. Minimum.
