    Mankato skates extremely well.

    Coasting to the puck while the Mavs skate. Even last night, Mankato skated all game long.

    I think their breakout (escape) passing is already better than last year, though they were last year. Some misses and turnovers, of course, but they are pretty composed. But again, that's from a watching-tv perspective, not the best way to judge overall play.

    Btw, it's hard to tell if you're not in the rink, but Montgomery seemed to have a solid game last night.

    Hell learn to dial back the dangle a little against the better teams. BU on the road will be a great test for these guys.

    I would if it was a fan tradition, home or away. It was a real question, btw. I saw MSU play at the Ralph many years ago, and I don't remember bells, but they may have used them. I do remember Ole' It might have been a tie game.

    We gripe about officiating a lot when we lose too.

    Two of our big scoring guns, Blake and Gaber, seem to be among the biggest celebrators when others score, which is an intangible I like.

    My first memorable gopher hockey memory was seeing Bill Butters get the boot for fighting then seeing him get into a fight with fans as he walked off the ice at what I think was the southwest corner gate at the old barn. Butters was considered a first class bad guy by Sioux fans in those days.

    A non-conference opponent that competes with UND for natties and top-end recruits. Plus, no opponent, conference or non, smells quite the way they do.

    For a completely new group, they covered their assignments well and kept their heads about them. Seldom did they make hurried and rash decisions with the puck. Badgers could just as well have won that game, but it was encouraging from a defensive standpoint. As someone pointed out, UW is well coached.

    A very fair question. We tend to be very outcome-centric in our evaluation.

    What percentage of Highway Host (or Big Steer) patrons at any time between 1:30 and 3:00 a.m. on a hockey night we’re shytfaced? And it spooks me now to think someone was usually driving.
