In early December, an NCAA berth seemed unlikely. You have to count you blessings sometimes. The boys have actually done what they had to do the second half.

The shorthanded goal was actually a freakish good pass and a great play by the shooter. Our mistake was taking the penalty and letting him get to the net.

Wins are always better, but getting cc next weekend wouldn't be all bad. Miami is still dangerous.

That's pretty much how I feel. And expanding on Hovey's first point, I want to be able to watch a UND team that is consistently among the best teams in the country, so the games are both fun to watch and meaningful. Hak's teams have given that. Hak has not won a NC yet, and we all expect that; but he also has not put us through three for four years like Minnesota recently went through under Lucia, or some of the bad years Eaves had recently, or some of Sandy's teams in in Duluth, or the disaster Miami has been this year.

Great parents and extremely athletic family. The kid lives for hockey.

I was there too. Jeff Sauer and CC in town, if I remember right. Those of us who began watching the Sioux in the old barn thought the new building was very nice but too quiet and civilized. A little like fans felt after the move from the old Ralph to the new.

I don't think anyone is mocking Blais, scpa, as much as tweaking the "fire Hak" people by joking about what Dean could have done or is now doing in UNO.

If that is true, he will definitely have to show he can develop that ability to game coach on the big stage when he has the talent to win.

Some good points. It's not all the head coach, of course, but I think when we remember now good Frattin was we overlook how well his situation was handled. What happened after he left the program and returned to Edmonton was pretty remarkable, IMO, and Hak and his staff deserve some credit for that.

This is exactly the way I see it. I'm not sure the Sioux have had a better program coach than Hakstol. And I'm not sure how you game-coach any better than putting 40 SOG and only giving up one goal while the goalie is on the ice (Mich 2011), but I think he needs to do something. On the balance, it seems Blais recommendation that they hire Hakstol has been good for UND. They do need to win one, though, to keep recruiting the elite talent, IMO

Heard Cameranesi's name a lot last night on radio.

Stopped by the grocery store on my way home from work today and witnessed this young mother dealing with a toddler who was lying on the floor kicking and screaming his head off for something in the candy rack. The child didn't speak well for his size, but the mother was really good about it, saying to the lady next to her in line, "he's just two, he doesn't know any better."

Nice weekend, but we shouldn't draw too many conclusions about what the team did different. Miami is at the bottom for a reason.
