  1. Tim's getting on in years.
  2. Wow. Need dramamine with this cameraman.
  3. As do I. There were some good guys on those teams, though. Jim Cahoon, Greg Cameron . . .
  4. About the announcers on the UNO NCHC broadcast: They were heaping praise on UND all night and did not bitch very much when penalties were called on the Mavs. I wasn't crazy about their style, but they were certainly about as objective as you could ask for. Having not seen all of Friday night, I found myself wondering whether the boys played that much better Saturday, Goals Last night certainly could have been very different with some bounces one way or another. It seems like it is always easier to be happy with the performance when we win.
  5. I could just kill myself
  6. Hak's teams were astoundingly consistent over the years. He was vilified because he did not win a banner. Week in and week out, year after year, his teams performed at a very high level. The progress they made in the second half of many years was not a consistency problem. In fact, I'd say his ability to meld his players into very strong teams was very consistent. This year's team does not have a great deal of talent at forward. I still think they are well coached and are a team most other teams would prefer to avoid, but they will have to be lucky to go deep IMO. One thing's for sure: they are not good enough to take undisciplined penalties. Edit: I meant to quote willy's post regarding consistency. I have my own consistency issues.
  7. Confirmation bias also comes in the form of colored glasses. Every team sells them.
  8. What impresses me is that the word is out on him and he is no doubt starting to get a lot of defensive attention on the ice, yet he is still scoring. It will get tougher for him, though. That's what makes players like Crosby and Ovy even more impressive.
  9. Another early departure risk?
  10. It's a little amusing when the torches and pitchforks come out after a loss when everyone knew this team had a modest amount of talent.
  11. thanks, speez
  12. where do I get streaming radio. UND Insider won't load for some reason.
  13. this game is a bit of a snoozer
  14. WAY more time and space against this Beaver team than they will see against most NCHC teams.
  15. Good luck to Mike. I liked the way he played.
  16. Didn't Wilbur leave the program earlier than we all expected?
  17. Just a guess, but he's probably reciting the team ethic at UND: work hard. That's been the main message from every coach in the last 20 years, and I'm guessing they have heard more of it this year, since everybody on the planet knows we don't have the same level of high end talent we've had a times in the past, particularly on offense. In fact, it might have been a subtle acknowledgment that UNO was doing what UND wasn't.
  18. Thanks Speez
  19. How do we get Hennessey tonight?
  20. anyone else having trouble getting the radio broadcast through UND Insider?
  21. Fire the LASER!!!!
  22. I do too. We've been very fortunate to have character guys as head coaches. They are all intense and will do things from time to time they probably regret, but they have been great character models, and I think that is why they have all been good program coaches.
  23. The game moved slower for Rocco than it did for most of his team mates. That would not have been true for Schmaltz or for Caggiula after he had played a couple of years.
  24. That is similar to my line of thinking, particularly the last decade part. They seem always to be in the mix. Off the cuff, I guess I think of DU, UMD, UND, SCSU, UMinn, UW, MICH, BU, BC, PROV., maybe CORNELL. Maine is an example of a school that has certainly been a traditional power, but I don't think of them in that group currently. This is very subjective using any methodology, and I'm sure my list can be ripped apart easily. But that sort of reflects how I perceive SCSU at this time.
  25. That is a very good question. I'll try to give that some time, as I didn't really think that through. You really hit the crux of it, though. And, btw, I did not say traditional hockey power. I think there is some difference, though I haven't really thought that through very much either.
