That injury to Potulny absolutely sucks for him personally and the gopher team.

Pictures of WHAT?

Maybe but I'll tell you where I do get some satisfaction. Several gopher fans were very vocal early in the season about how MN didn't have goaltending problems and the Sioux still do. Some of them are the same ones who would rip on Blais for pulling goalies during games last year, etc. Don't hear much from them these days.

I LIKE that one! "BAD DOG YOU SIT....STAY!"

After watching some of most of the games this year, and all of the Friday MN game, I believe this is NOT last year's Sioux team. It's too early to predict the late season fade that we fell victim to last year. This team appears much deeper and more solid defensively. Jones is an absolute stud on D, and I'm not talking because he scored a few goals. He rode guys off the puck, outmuscled them, and skated better than the opposition. Outstanding. Canady also played great. Genoway continues to play with confidence, seemingly. This team is coming together. Hopefully, they haven't even peaked.

Here's what I would like to see but I think it would be too difficult and impractical... Get a picture of the SCSU president, put it on a SCSU hockey player, and then superimpose the Sioux logo over the Husky logo on the jersey. Just a little payback.

One of the only sounds I heard Saturday morning was the popping of the trees in the -9 degree temps on Saturday morning. Some thoughts based on what I have read here on the internet. Many things that stick out to me have been said by others: 1. I see MN fans rationalizing this loss by saying they have lost their top 3 defensemen (Martin, Ballard, Harrington). Yet we could say we've lost our top 2 (Hale, Schneider) for the friday night game. That means MN is without say, it's second best defensemen (net loss) for the Friday game. I doubt that would have mattered. 2. Very happy and impressed to see the fantastic 3rd period performance by this team this season. Back to the good old days of 3rd period domination??? 3. I see some MN fans talking about how things would be different if so and so had not left. Well, a couple of MN fans were quite adamant last season that Sioux fans were not to do that. I haven't seen a post by either of them lately.... 4. Very happy to hear that Canady had a great weekend. That is great for him and great for the team. 5. I still think Massen is a great player and could be a fantastic contributor. Hope to see him in the mix soon, whether it is injury or otherwise that he is out. He can be a force on offense. 6. Well, where are we now on the musical goalie conversation? 7. How about Matt Jones all of a sudden an offensive machine in addition to his steady defensive work? Holy smoke. 8. Sioux fans have taken a lot of crap (some deserved) from gopher fans over the last couple of years. This is only a weekend but frankly, it's nice to have the roles reversed for a while. I have every reason to believe MN will find its way out of its funk by later in the year.

It is CRITICAL that "The Brady Bunch" doesn't catch on. Might as well just put pink jerseys on them...... Money Line - that's got a good ring. And "money" is now a term for a performer, so put aside Bochenski's past. If nothing else, remake his identity with the term into something positive. Goal Line - this was my idea until I read someone else already had it. Zach Attack. Not bad. I like The Money Line

In today's Herald Blais throws a compliment the gophs way, but UnHappy opposing fans who think Blais only wants to play "cupcakes" probably won't give him credit for it:
-
As always I/we appreciate all of your efforts on our behalf. This site is a critical component of my fan experience with Sioux hockey. Thanks again.
-
Well, how about this: In 5 games, 3 against top ranked opponents, they have scored a total of 6 even strength goals on us. That's pretty good.
-
When you hear Blais make self-deprecating comments like this, you begin to think he could have had his tongue in his cheek regarding the Potulny comments that are getting so much mileage... Very encouraging comments about Porter, Stafford, Genoway, Fylling. I really wish I could be at these games because I'd like to focus on the Prpich/Vanek battle alone. That could be a fun one. Thanks, PCM!!!!!!!!

Do I read this right? Even strength (5x5, 4x4) we have outscored our opponents 28-6? That is nearly as astounding as our ofer on the PP.

It's available outside of Mariucci but used to be affordable a few years ago. Last year 30 minutes before game time tickets ran about $60+ per. It's getting out of hand. I've no exp at the Ralph

Agree, it is better than most anything else on Friday or Saturday night and if you can't watch the Sioux, might as well watch the goofs (while you listen to the Sioux).
-
Just one of Tim Taylor's Tools was excellent.
-
I agree. The gopher forwards are ever dangerous and could put a licking on our team, even if we score heavily. I see 6-4 type scores in these games, going either way.

The sound was not on in the smoking section during the first period on Sat. 01Grad, sounds like you need the sage advice "drink only in moderation". I go to Senser's regularly for the cost of a coke and generous tip.

The Irmen sign is funny. How about a thought bubble for the penalty box. "Damn, even the box is nicer than my dorm room"

Blais said he was happy with the Sioux transition game tonite. Hopes we have some of that straightened out for the future. He's also happy with the balanced scoring through all lines. Parise says his knee is almost 100%. He says the team is ready to go against MN. Who cares what has happened in the past couple of years at the Ralph, this is a new team. I like his spunk. Schneider said earlier he'd be ready to play next week against MN but Blais sounded doubtful. High ankle sprain.

If my guess as posted above is correct I don't agree with you. Blais has 3 goalies he wanted to get time this weekend. Ziggy is the one who got left out a bit, not Brandt. I think it is a good move. Brandt played a very good game and was not scored on. Let Parise get a little time to hopefully play well and feel good about his play. If that works, he's got his top goalies both feeling good going into next weekend.
-
I believe Ziggy was the back-up last night and Parise tonite. I think Parise got back in the game tonite because Blais feels he didn't have a great game last night and wants him to get some time in the net before next weekend to get the bad taste out of his mouth. That's my guess. I thought Blais waited a long time to put Ziggy in last night and what made sense to me was that Blais was giving Parise as much time as possible to turn around what might not have been his best effort. I don't think Blais wanted him leaving the ice feeling poorly about his performance. Just my guess.
