I took Blais' comment to be a more general comment that when you lose a guy to a fighting DQ it screws up lines for 2 games. However, I now think he meant the game in which the DQ happened, and then the suspended game. Makes sense now.

Good points, Jim Dahl. I understand the concerns but certainly hope we'll get recaps for those of us too far away to listen in. It should be possible to relate what was discussed in a safe manner.

I guess I have heard several times where he has called a spade a spade in these cases. My impression is he is pretty unbiased on these types of things.

I really like Woog as a color guy and have said this before. And regardless of comments I made above, or Woog's obvious homerism even on TV, I give the guy credit because IMO he calls it as he really sees it. He's not afraid to compliment the Sioux when they do something well, or rip the Gophers if they screw up. He's also not slow to correct Mazzocco when he's complaining about a call that went against the goofs when Wooger thinks it's a good call. Hennessy is as biased as they come, but calls a good game regardless. For that reason he's easy to listen to if you're a Sioux fan, but I take many of his comments about plays or officiating with a grain of salt because he wears his Kelly Green on his sleeve.

I was a bit surprised about Woog's shot at the non-conf schedule. Yes, we will play 2 cupcakey teams during the Christmas tourney but other than that, are they all that bad? BC is tops and Yale is at least respectable, aren't they? Other than that, I don't have any major complaints. He sees things his way, we ours. Like PCM said, he picked the Sioux to finish 2nd in the conference, so thinks highly of them overall.

From the replay I saw on the news, it looked pretty much like PCM describes. Kind of looked to me like Fuher took a shot but his stick hit the defenders stick at about the same time he hit the puck and that took most of the steam out of the shot. The puck just got pushed towards the net and happened to go in because the goalie was fooled. Anyone who has played foosball understands how those 'holy rollers' can fool a goalie.

True. Those "other things" could have a contributory effect so can't be discounted outright.

Falling on the side of "at your own risk" myself, I do admit that some of those rockets are difficult to avoid even if you are paying attention. And NO ONE is constantly focused on a game the whole time. Nets weren't required until someone actually DIED. It's an inconvenience for those fans to look through, no doubt. But loved ones will be coming back home. The defected pucks at center ice aren't that big of a danger even if they hit you. I don't know but I would think the puck that killed that girl was a rocket, not just a deflected wrister. I can understand the desire to put nets on the end of the ice, but think they are unnecessary anywhere else.

The way the DECC is built it IS scary to sit on the ends.

Interesting comments about Smaby not being in the best shape, and of a potential lack of leaders. Also, "older" players coming in injured. Wonder what that's all about.

Ok. The situation is not funny. But being charged with striking a fixed object is, out of this context, pretty humorous.

This, unfortunately, seems to be the way things are going with top young talent. As the story mentioned, Jeff Jackson committed to Michigan last year at that age, and we all know that BC is weaning young children off their mother's milk... Personally, I'm not in favor of getting a commitment from a kid that young because you never know if the crowd will catch up over time. On the other hand, I wouldn't have turned down Sidney Crosby had we been that fortunate last year either. I guess if they are really really good, you have to take that chance.
