  1. It is frustrating CRR, but when it is a free service, you kind of have to take that in stride.
  2. I saw the last 40 % of the game or so on TV at Senser's and I would say Zach looked like he was flying around out there to me. But that gives a limited perspective. Who was in Genoway's uni last year? Because this isn't that Genoway. He looks way more confident. He made some great passes and a fantastic goal. That puck was in his skates as he was getting hauled sideways right in front of the tender and he still managed to flip it up and over him. Porter also looked really good. For a freshman he's flying around out there and making plays. Again, I thought he was playing with more authority than most of our freshman have for a few years here. Bochenski looks like a man among boys out there. His all-around game looks strong to me. Not only offensively, but the guy comes screaming in to help backcheck and clear the area around the goal when necessary too. Murray has great puck skills. His individual hussle put him in position where a STUPID pass by the Yale dman bounced off his chest. He was able to backhand a quick pass to Bochenski for possibly the easiest non-empty netter he's ever scored. Parise fanned on a similar shot minutes later but picked up the puck and passed out front to Bo who buried it. Anyone else think the Yale goalie was starting to get on his teammates in the 3rd for hanging him out to dry so badly? Looked like you could see it in his body language. Some of our pp in the 3rd looked fantastic but we just couldn't score. But the last one without the first team in it looked pretty bad. Sioux looked great, I thought, except for some very sloppy play in their own end that hung out the goalies. The goalies also played pretty soft. Of the 2 goals I saw Parise give up I thought he should have #2. But #3 looked like a pretty nifty move. Ziggy's first save was a fantastic stop on a breakaway. He stayed with the shooter until he tried to break around him at the last moment and then Ziggy shot the right leg out and stopped the puck. Excellent save. Murray and Genoway both made ill-advised passes in their own end that ended up on Yale sticks. That needs to get fixed before next week... Signs were awesome!
  3. I know I'm stupid but it took me a while to click on the 56K button. Once I did that I got the audio.
  4. To me, this is a very surprising turn of events. Gaborik just stormed out of town, what, 2 days ago saying the Wild wouldn't negotiate, etc? And now he signs? I can only think one of 2 things happened. 1. He listened to agent advice which he didn't like the last couple of days, and finally had enough and went against that advice and signed or 2. His storming was a ploy. He was more than happy to eat crow as long as he gave one last bluff which the Wild called. Since it appeared his pseudo-tantrum was not going to result in additional $, he quickly took the deal offered. I've been wrong on everything else, so I suppose you can rule these two out.
  5. Fair enough. I'm just anxious to see the transition game get rolling and it's been a few years....
  6. I'm concerned about the comments about the transition game and moving the puck from defense to offense effectively. We've dealt with those problems for a few years now and by now I would expect that not to be a weakness. We can talk all we want about MN's "offensive" defenseman and put up numbers all we want to show how our defensive corp contributes offensively as well, but if we can't handle the puck well enough to jumpstart the offense, it's a weakness. Smaby was one that was said to be able to make the pass. Now we hear he's struggling. Let's hope this is an adjustment issue that will iron itself out before too long.
  7. I'm not paying close attention. Did Higgins turn pro? Where is he?
  8. That one IS funny, but you do that for the opponent not your own team.
  9. Look, maybe we want Greene to say he's here to get an education first and play hockey second but with his kind of future, isn't it understandable what he said? I mean, think of it this way....I went to school for engineering but never even worked in the field. Now I'm in a related field, but not what I was really educated to do. Other students, as mentioned, want to be a pilot, or an accountant, or something like that. How many students go to college and then work directly in the field they were educated? Many, certainly, but not all. Look at aviation. How many students complete their aviation degree with the idea they will get to land that big $ big airline pilot job, only to toil away with the small commuter airline forever? Do we tell them to pick up a business degree at the same time so they have something to fall back on? No... Matt and many other UND hockey players have a dream to play professional hockey, be that at the NHL level or some other level where they get compensated and can make a living. They come here to hone their skills and prepare them for that career best they can. That is what they want to do. In the meantime many of them get a cheap education in a "fall-back" field in case something happens and their playing days end. Our system doesn't allow kids to get a "major" in pro sports. If someone with Greene's future says they came here to prepare to take a shot at the pro game, that's fine with me. As long as they are living by the rules that allow them to play collegiate hockey, go to class, make grades, and meet those expectations required of them in order to play and earn/keep their scholarship, I don't think it should matter what their ultimate goal is. Seriously, I have thought for some time there an argument could be made that a college curriculum could be developed for the pro "hopeful" athlete. Maybe a handful of guys on each D1 level team could be eligible on a yearly basis for this sort of curriculum. It would include a lot of basic education that most students have to complete, the humanities, business classes, and such. Advanced coursework could involve things like advanced communications and media relations courses, economics, accounting, finance, contract law, physical training, anatomy/physiology/physical therapy, etc. Additional courses could even be developed that would specifically train athletes to handle the situations that athletes handle on a daily basis (I can't really provide a list). I don't think it's reasonable to assume 25 guys should be able to go through school in this sort of a curriculum, but why not 25% of a roster, or something that accepts those students most likely to and most interested in having that future? Why not train some of them for their future career like we train other students for theirs? (I admit a lot of this can already happen with current course scheduling. I believe additional relevant coursework could be developed beyond what is typically offered through a university that would be of immense benefit to a pro athlete. I'll bet you could get intelligent guys who have been in the pro game for some time together with educators and instructional designers and come up with some pretty valuable stuff)
  10. Kevin Speedwak is tied for the team lead in scoring with 4 points (2g 2a) in 4 games with the South Carolina Stingrays. Aaron Schneekloth is also on that team but has spent some time up with Grand Rapids of the AHL.
  11. Was lucky enough to watch the Wild last night when Roche finally got back in the lineup. Travis scored his first NHL point of this season in the 3rd. I think it might have been a PP, and it was classic Travis. He was playing the point and a centering pass was sent up to him from behind the goal as he floated down. He faked the one-timer, and then snapped what looked to me a shot meant to deflect off the blade of Brunettes stick but instead floated and hit the shaft of his stick. Result was still the same as the puck went in the net. The Wild wants Roche to provide more offense and he did last night. In what I did see, he looked to be holding his own defensively as well. He was on the ice for Buffalo's goal but Roche had his guy tied up and out of the play when the goal was scored. Here's hoping he can stay in the lineup. Go Travis!
  12. Dude, your Mom's HOT! (Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure)
  13. Take care and don't push your luck. Maybe we should send Sprig out to fight the fires.
  14. I agree with what you say. I also would understand if threads like this got nuked, or whatever. Another idea is to skip over reading threads that have a title "Gaborik Gone"

    UMD vs. UMN

No, you weren't. It wasn't necessarily on this board either.
  16. I mostly agree. The only difference I have, and that is only based on what Barreiro has been saying (I don't know the numbers myself) is that Gabby's incentive numbers are way out there and would be almost impossible to reach. If so, then maybe the incentives shouldn't be factored into the equation and the Wild's offer doesn't appear quite so generous. Regardless, the Wild IS offering a significantly higher GUARENTEED salary on a yearly basis regardless over last year regardless of how Gabby wants to portray it. At this point both sides seem dug in and I wonder if we'll ever see Gaborik in a Wild uni again.

    UMD vs. UMN

Before the season started UND was getting nailed for having poor goaltending by gopher fans and JJ was being defended as being better than the UND options. Many UND fans begged to differ. I think so far this season the UND fans were more right.

    UMD vs. UMN

Still, if you have to lose, I'd rather lose now rather than later in the season.
  19. Oops looks like I was wrong. Man, that happens WAY too often.
  20. Thing is it appears he's missing those crossbars now! Way to go Jason! That's great. Hope he continues to light it up.
  21. YALE! YALE! The GANGS ALL HERE! Then a nice thuggish picture of our boys or one of McMahon, Fuher, Hale and Spiewak. Heck, they don't have to know half of them are gone.

    UMD vs. UMN

Some of the gopher fans are proving as a bunch they are no different than anyone else's fans. I doubt it but hopefully this puts and end to one of them coming on here and chastising Sioux fans for complaining about officiating.
  23. The scuttlebutt in the paper sounds as if Gabby may be signed shortly. My guess is you'll find him sign at the numbers that the Wild released a couple of weeks ago. If I'm not mistaken, that's also about what they originally offered. We'll see if my guess is right I.
