I don't know if I agree with you. He showed flashes his freshman year. It's possible that if his head was on straight and he worked hard he'd be having more impact than you are giving him credit for. I at least think he'd be right up there with our better offensive players. Don't forget that this guy and Bochenski were linemates in the USHL. It would be my guess that they fed off each other. He wasn't named the National Junior Player of the Year for nothing.

On the other hand since most students head home for break and many families have company or former residents returning it's nice for them to have the ability to see a hockey game they might not otherwise get to see. And many many student tickets won't get used. For instance last year we were up for the CC series. There were few students around. Bonzers was empty on Saturday afternoon and I would expect most of the seats were not filled by students, but that's just a guess.

Well, if your teammates are basically telling you to fish or cut bait and you decide to cut bait I suppose you could look at it either way. I'm only going on heresay so don't know any inside info on this but that's the way I heard it. I think Blais comments about his former teammates wanting to play against him might be telling. I doubt they're upset because he left to play for someone else. My guess is there are other reasons.....

I'm not trying to pick on you SFiP but I do want to point this out. 1. They won it after losing guys like Pohl and Leopold, so personally I don't see why they couldn't rebound from losing PMart. 2. They didn't get complacent after winning one, so why should they after winning 2? They bring back most of the same guys and solid leadership. 3. They won a championship with a suspect goaltender at the time, and an untested one the second time around. I for one will admit that I thought they would play better than they have so far this year. Whether it is compacency, or whether there is a defensive deficiency I don't know. But this MN team, while dangerous, doesn't appear to be the great team I thought they would be this year. At least not so far and frankly it's gotten to the point where I think I can just say there's more than just an appearance, but it's a reality. When MN put together their winning streak I wasn't sold on them being "back" because I want to see consistency out of any team before calling them good or bad. We've seen the Sioux a couple of years ago pull out good wins at the GLI that didn't in the end mean much. I said as much to jk earlier this week. Now the gophers go to AA where frankly they needed and should have swept and peed down their legs on Friday night against a 3 legged dog with another bad wheel. That reminds me an awful lot of Sioux teams the past couple of years that ccould be dangerous but not consistent. There's still time for MN to pull it together. And yes, I don't like to have my own predictions thrown in my face so I'm not going to make any bold ones. But at this point I don't feel that MN has a team that will be able to pull it all together for a big run at the end of the year. I do think they'll make the NCAA's.

Did you miss where DB said Massen has been injured and that has limited his playing time? A nasty groin injury (that's what I heard he had, fairly reliably) is hard on a hockey player. I wouldn't read too much into his stats right now. We've seen him be a heck of a player in the last couple of years and expect we'll see that once he gets his feet underneath him.

I remember last year Blais said before the season we would be pretty strong down the center which had been a weakness the year before. Looks like Genoway is a little late but coming in. He could be a big factor in this team if he continues to play at this level.

As opposed to another coach who whined because his guys were taken away from him and didn't get enough playing time...

Amazing the bkd on a decision like this that a 18-19 yr old kid makes. I mean, it looks like there's pressure on his dad, pressure on Brady, and all he wants to know is whether he has a chance to play. If Canada is bummed out, they have to look at the kids options. You can't blame him for wanting to make the tournament, and patriotism aside he had friends he could play with on the US team. Can't blame him. What is interesting is now he is "stuck" with playing for the US in any future international competition. Good for Brady. Good to see Sioux players making that tournament. Now if we could just work on the WCHA to work their schedule around this tournament every year....

I wanted to buy a home white jersey in 1987 but thought the $40 was just too much for little ol' me to spend on it. Jerseys weren't as commonplace then as they are now, though some people did wear them. Anyway, it wasn't long before I regretted not spending THAT money.

The Hrkac Circus, best or not will always be tops in my heart because that's who I got to see play while I was at UND 1984-1987. Those years created a Sioux fan for life.
