Stub and Herbs is probably "it" but it's so jam packed it's not even fun to be in there. Sally's is another one not far away.

I did notice back in the 98-99 timeframe or so we tied 2 years in a row on Friday night then won on Saturday. So maybe I'm off. But in the last 3 years it's been a win on Friday night for the good guys.

You don't need a lot of PP goals when you score a ton 5x5 but it can bail you out of a jam on those games where you can't seem to score even strength. And as you go into one-and-out playoffs you need to be able to play all your cards. That's what worries me. This weekend is going to be a barn-burner. I said earlier this week that I wasn't yet convinced MN was "back" but would admit they were getting better. I'm now to the point of being fairly convinced they are "back". Mankato looked putrid in the little bit I watched, and that's not so impressive, but the long and short of it is MN is generally playing better than their opponent consistently, and that's what you need. The Sioux have been vulnerable, and could have been beaten in St. Cloud. Maybe other games. Greene better have learned his lesson this weekend because we can not give MN tons of PP chances. Just can't happen. We have to play a good clean game, stay away from special teams, and beat MN's deep line-up 5 on 5, which we CAN do. MN is coming back, and we never seem to sweep them in MN. I expect a split. A sweep by either team is unlikely. Sioux win on Friday. Seems they usually do.

My issue isn't that Roche necessarily was playing well enough to stay, but the Wild were crying for offensive output from their D corps and Travis only played sporadically. The little I did see him play I thought he looked a bit tentative but then he'd had few games to get used to what he was doing. I just don't think he had a good chance to get comfortable. At the same time I'm willing to accept he may not have done what he needed to to be given that chance. That is my suspicion given the short shot he seemed to get.

Risebrough was recently quoted in the Trib saying that Roche definitely won't be with the Wild org next year. For some reason they are done with him.

Gopher-Mav game very very chippy in the 3rd. 1/2 of both teams in the box most of the period (only slight exaggeration) but not because of a big brawl. Lots of chippy stuff. Gophers the worst at it but I'm biased too. Ballard crosschecks a Mav right after the gophers score. Potulny crosschecks a guy right after the final buzzer. Surprising. I was hoping the Mavericks could put up a fight tonite but they look like a junior team out there. Only watched about 1/3 of the game but they look terrible and slow. Ice was also terrible, and I wonder if both teams didn't slow down a bit just so they could keep their skates. Good to see the Sioux come back with a good 3rd period. Let's keep playing hard all the way through the game. Next weekend we can't slack off or we'll be embarrassed in mpls.

http://www.athletics.mtu.edu/MHO/mho.html The MI Tech site says you can watch the game through their website if you have RealPlayer. Just got here so haven't tried it.

This isn't draft rankings but an interesting note on Matt Smaby: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article.php?s...hreaded&order=0 Good for Matt!

Don't you think he spun that just a little too conveniently? I think he got what he asked for.

Wow wow wow wow wow. One begins to wonder if what you can and can't do. Of course, his behavior appears to have gone beyond the normal fan's experience, but what about the interviewing was contrary to the rules? From the UND website, here are the rules: http://fightingsioux.com/info/booster/ Some of this seems confusing: Yet ?

Fifth Line, with posts like that please post again. That was fun to read.

Thanks for taking the time, PCM!!!!!!!!

I wonder how long it took the fans to "take" to the Old REA when it was built... I definitely appreciate the better opportunity to land tickets (anyway possible) to get up for a weekend every year. I love that it's a great asset to keep our team strong. I hope the atmosphere can be something that opposing players love to hate.

It's a scary scenario for sure. The only thing is how difficult it would be for NJ to know if spending that money on a college player right at the end of the year will pay off in winning one more playoff series. That could hold them back. Good luck to Zach. Hope to see him wearing Kelly Green next year though.

I agree jk. Always tough in Houghton but if the team can sweep I think it will say something. However, I wonder if there is much emphasis on trying to formulate a "checking" line when you are on the road. With Blais comments on a "4th" line, your other lines are a combo of the below. It is looking pretty impressive the way some of these guys are playing: Bochenski Genoway Porter Stafford Parise Murray Fylling McMahon Canady or Hale Lundbohm Massen and Prpich In reserve: Fabian Marvin Palmo

Fantastic story, Canuck! Almost cried. I was there at the last regular season game at the old Ralph. It had been my first trip to GF since I graduated in 1987. It wasn't pretty but the memories are fantastic.

Good for Kevin. Wish I had a few extra $$ to bid on his Black Ice jersey.

I must be the only person who likes to chear "let's go Sioux". I don't care what I'm yelling as long as it is loud and for the team.

Great recap, thanks! I will pat myself on the back by saying that in my email to BM one of the things I mentioned was that I thought if star players in the WCHA are getting mauled and mistreated they may be more apt to leave early for the pros. I see Coach validated my opinion on that matter, but I am greatly concerned to hear how it may yet come to pass. Not good, but understandable. I think we better bring home the hardware this year, boys...

Last person I think of when I think of cheap players is Riddle.

If you and I are thinking of the same incident I'm surprised Bo can even walk after that one. I'm not joking. He got absolutely blasted and I was concerned if he'd get back up.

Sent my message to Bruce and Greg. And I see a friend who doesn't post here but saw the addresses has sent them a note as well. Thanks, Stack. Good post!

Watched the game at Senser's. I thought it looked like we played hard but as ScottM said, we didn't pass or shoot as well as we could have. Seemed like we were trying to make a lot of long passes through traffic instead of hitting the easy shorter pass that would have kept the puck moving forward, and that hurt us as those long passes just were not connecting. AA did a great job of removing the rebounds. AA played hard all night, and I think their effort was equal to the Sioux's. But the penalties that limit the star players must be called. Last night was a farce at times. Greene needs to sit a game. I'm tired of him, while we're on the PP, crosschecking someone to put us down a couple of guys. Matt, you need to learn when and how better to hit somebody. Canady looked like he had another good game, especially late when he nearly scored. I noticed that Blais put Zach and Murray back on a line with Bochenski at the end of the game. Wonder why? Forecheck, was that you getting a few seconds of fame with 2 minutes left in regulation? Looked like you....

I was wondering why Lundbohm sat. He was great last week in St. Cloud I thought.
