That's great. Always nice to see Sioux recruits who can score. Kozek is actually second in the BCHL scoring race with 1.7 p/g. The leader has 1.9 but he's also a couple years older. Duncan is tied with several at 1.6 p/g, so is right up there. Watkins still in the top 20 at 1.2 p/g. For some comparison, last year Zajac finished tied for first in the BCHL regular season with a 1.9 p/g average. Over 59 games he had 43 goals and 69 assists for 112 points. Last year the leading goal scorers in the BCHL scored 53, 54 and 62 goals. The rest of the scoring leaders were in the 40's and 30's in goals scored. So the 50's is a level apart from the crowd. All these guys were 1-2 years older than Kozek at the same point. Kozek over 30 games has 28 goals and 23 assists for 51 points. Projects to roughly 100 points over the regular season, and about 55 goals. Looks like the kid can pot the puck.

People talk about east coast bias...this might be the major junior bias. As in Murray's situation last year, I don't think they like to pick kids that go to US colleges.
-
You're not the only one.
-
You know, a few weeks ago there was a thread called Rip Hak or something similar that was a farce. Methinks this one is too.
-
Maybe he and Conboy will start hanging out.
-
Sorry, Brady...I say you sit one more week. No sense is screwing around with a knee injury. Hopefully Stafford is ok. We need 4 points this weekend. PCM, thanks for all the work!!

About Radke, I remember when Paul Martin came to the MN I wasn't that impressed with him his first year. He didn't score a lot of points, and I didn't think he looked all that comfy with the puck. I believe his first year he was told to concentrate on learning D1 defensive hockey, and once he was acclimated his offense began to shine. We know how that turned out. I'm not saying Radke will be in Martin's class. I'm thinking he was such an offensive force in the AJHL that he may be working hard on his defense right now and offense isn't something he's thinking about while on the ice. I think even Berry said earlier this year he has to learn to play D first. So, I'll take a long term perspective on Radke's situation and see how it turns out. In addition, let's not forget how few points we had from any of our defensemen before this past weekend.

Siouxtatto42, you need to get up to speed on the WCHA definition of a "rival". I don't have all the details but essentially each team has a designated main "rival" that they always, regardless of the unbalanced scheduling, will play 4 times in a year. With all other teams in the league you may get them 2 games or 4 games depending on the vagaries of the scheduling for that year. I believe MN's main rival is WI UND is with St. Cloud Denver is with CC Duluth is with 'kato? AA and Tech?

Just because I complained doesn't mean I have a solution!

Wow Jacques, good luck to you. What a tough row to hoe.

One thing you forgot to mention: 1997-98 USHL Coach of the Year
-
Still, the discrepancy between WI's schedule and UND's or MN's is significant. It does balance itself out from year to year, but within the year, it might not provide a good comparison team to team. I think I agree now that it is time to find a way to balance out the play one way or the other. I guess I'd be most in favor of finding a way to balance out the regular season schedule, so the McNaughton is fought for on equal terms. Someone else said it earlier, but with the WCHA so (apparently) strong this year, the team that outlasts the others for the McNaughton will have accomplished something. Better for that to be an even playing field.

Maybe it makes it more difficult to resell tickets at inflated prices if you don't have them in hand early on.
-
The amazing thing is he does it with one eye taped shut after a phys-ed shuttlecock injury.
-
I think you hint at why this probably doesn't apply any more.
-
P&L, with all due respect I find it hard to believe a coach of the Wolverines is telling anyone this information at this point in the process. I'd rather see this kid anywhere but MN, so I hope you are right. I just find it surprising that this would be divulged.

That's great! Tough conference.
-
Good perspective, jk. Thanks for the post game notes, all.

They say Canady beat Ellsworth low stick side. 2nd goal was Fuher banking a puck off Porter. 3rd goal was after he committed on Zajac's fake and Z passed it over to Fuher for the goal.
-
Tech announcers say Parise was shaky at times but made a lot of big saves. Say Sioux played a great game. PK was more aggressive and more effective.
-
If anyone can listen in to the Sioux broadcast, I'd like to hear what Hak has to say about the weekend if they interview him.
-
Don't know who took that faceoff but it went to the corner, killed, and game over. Sioux win 3-2
-
Sioux ice the puck with 5 seconds left. Go McMahon!!
-
Parise takes a shot on goal and ices the puck.
-
Play on, Tech goalie still off. Sioux come down 2-1 and miss open net again.
