  1. Tech announcers say the Sioux are using a completely different PK tonite and it is working much better than last night. Didn't give specifics.
  2. Yes. I haven't been listening real close but they said he was in a bit of a scrap in the corner a few minutes ago. Didn't catch what happened after.
  3. Very happy to see Canady get a goal. Keep it up Brian! Not happy with all the Sioux slashing calls. Come on, guys. Use your sticks to move the puck. Does anyone know of a site for real time game stats??

    Scary stuff

Yep, the gophers right now look like the team to beat. They are winning consistently and beating good teams while they do it. I think how good the gophers are this year is a bit of a surprise just as is how bad UMD is.
  5. In answer to my earlier question the box score is now avail on USCHO and shows the Sioux totalled 34 SOG for the game. I think 16 in the 2nd and 12 in the 3rd. That's pretty good. Sounds like an all around good effort by our team except in the area of special teams. Good job Sioux. Let's keep this up.
  6. Didn't get to listen. Great to see we could find the net tonite. Nice to see scoring spread around. Nice to see defensemen get in the goal scoring column. Question: I see we had 6 shots in the first. Did we pick it up any better than that in following periods?
  7. After tonite's game, I change my answer: Winner: Kevin Spiewak Penalty killer extraordinaire
  8. Winner: Jeff Panzer always exciting First Runner UP: Travis Roche see above Unsung Hero: Kevin Spiewak
  9. Look, I think everyone can understand that sometimes ND kids have to "settle" for playing for the maroon and gold. But I think Goon's point was "how can you be a life-long fan"?
  10. I think even a year ago there was some talk that he is a gopher fan and the expectation was that would be his first choice.
  11. Hmmmm. 1.4 GA the last 5 games. I'll take it. Overall we're at a 2.5 GA and in conference 2.4. Those aren't bad numbers either. If we can keep those down and our offense clicks we'll be in business. Our GF overall is 2.43 and 2.1 in conference. Our GF last year overall was 4.4 and 4.35 in conference. GA was 2.2 and 2.21.
  12. Good news. Good confidence builder for the team.
  13. Sioux win 3-1! Looking forward to hearing from people who got to watch the game. SC announcers make it sound as if the Sioux were outplayed. We won 3x more face-offs, and sounds like we missed on a few opportunities of our own to score. SC sounds like they missed on several. So, were we lucky? Or did we play a good game we can be happy about?
  14. I didn't hear. Did he get a major and DQ?
  15. When Prpich was recruited he came with 2 outstanding statistics/honors. Co-MVP of his league and a monster penalty minute bank. In fact, I think they actually kept him in the bin a couple of weeks after the season ended. So I thought he was probably a good character guy but was very concerned if he could stay on the ice at this level. His first year proved that he could play, and he didn't rack up the PM's that history said he could. However, he was always agitating and at times that got him in trouble. He showed some offensive skills at times. Certain Sioux players have been put in various roles and some have performed admirably in those roles over the years. McMahon is one who comes to mind. Generally a checking line center who had average offensive numbers, this year he's recently been put in as a winger on a scoring line and has had a bit more success offensively. He played his role before, and now he's changing that role successfully. If I remember McMahon and Prpich were very good friends in the BCHL. Prpich could be one of those guys who, because of the agitating nature of his game (see last season vs. Vanek?) is cut out for a checking line player with some offensive ability. One does wonder if he doesn't enjoy agitating more than he enjoys scoring goals. He loves to agitate, and even admitted on the post-game last night that drinking out of the goalies water bottle didn't get the reaction that he hoped it would. Having heard reliably from a source close enough to know when Prp came in that he may not possess the speed to even play at this level, I think he's had a good career so far. Personally, I like his attitude on the ice. I wish he'd control the top 10% of his agitudinality and put that towards offense. A few less pointless penalties and a few more goals and he'd be everything we could want, I think.
  16. oh, man. Sioux fans don't like hearing this. However, by now they should have a good handle on this and be able to spot it plenty early to start treatment, so with luck it won't wipe him out like before. Hopefully it's nothing...
  17. Great to see Prp getting a couple of goals and nice to hear Hak compliment Massen on his play tonite. This is a good game to build on. Let's keep the mo' going! Good job Sioux!
  18. Massen just had a great chance turned away. Tim says he's playing possessed tonite.
  19. I caught this too. It's not his first comment along those lines. He said something similar last weekend. I've always liked him and now even more. No complaining about "bounces". Get the job done. Seems to me he's complimenting the Sioux. I'd be ticked if I was a previous opponent, though.
  20. You know, I was going to give you you-know-what for your WI sweep prediction and then you say something nice like this.
  21. I agree. I don't remember which thread I had posted this poor excuse for an analysis a couple weeks ago but I thought the same things. It's a bit thin. I was thinking a couple more forwards and maybe even a defenseman depending on who is available. This list is strictly going off Hak's comments that this is his class with the addition of one more recruit they are looking at. I suppose that doesn't preclude a spring signing, but sounded kind of definite. Maybe he's willing to go a bit shorthanded next year in order to keep from having such a huge class. Then bring in a couple additional the following year.
  22. Looks like the Hak is planning to go with this lineup next year Forwards Prpich Marvin Fabian Stafford* Murray Porter Kaip Spirko Zajac Miller Watkins Duncan Kozek 1 more recruit Defense Greene* Bina Foyt Smaby Radke Lee Jones Chorney Goal Parise Lammy That's 14 Forwards, 8 Defense and 2 in Goal. Hak allows that Greene and Stafford could leave which would leave us a bit shorthanded it would seem.
  23. This is always something I've disagreed with. Just because we are fans of the team doesn't mean we have to blindly follow everything they do and aren't allowed to critisize them. We love the team just as much as anybody and wish to see them succeed as much as the team does. I haven't heard anybody say "if this team doesn't start winning I'm going to stop going to the games." Maybe you missed what brought on the Rip on Hak thread.
