Think of it this way: all the frustration regarding Dataflix that will be prevented.

I read somewhere USA Hockey orchestrated the press conference, not Phil.

Miami is likely going to provide a better test than Manitoba. It should be fun to see how the young team handles it.

Thanks for the link, Kermit. Nice article. VandeVelde has started out very nicely with 4 goals so far. It will be interesting to watch how his season progresses.

I'm one who has projected a 5th place finish, based on the idea that our D corp is so inexperienced at this level. However, I agree with you that if the playing level of the defense is at least solid and dependable a top 3 finish is not out of the question, as long as the offense and goaltending is as strong as most of us expect. It will be interesting to see what the next few weeks bring. I doubt the D will look quite as composed against Gabe Gauthier as they did yesterday, but the team appears to be avoiding significant chaos out of the chutes

I think I've reached one level of understanding so far in all these threads and pages. If I was on the recieving end of this sort of treatment, and believed that it was UND students I would have a hard time accepting their cheering "GO SIOUX" at the football or hockey game on Friday. I probably would desire they give up using that name of which I am proud. That emotion and reaction I can understand. There's more to it, and that is the fact the name isn't causing the problem in the first place. Many people are proud of that name, whether they are American Indians or if they are white, black or Hispanic. And there's a lot more good people who support using that name than ignorant trash who can't get beyond their racism. I don't know if I've ever bought into the argument that UND using the nickname is meant to "honor" the Sioux people. However, as has been stated here before, UND has identified the Sioux Warrior of the plains as having qualities they would like the sports teams to emulate. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, is it not? Like many have said, the best solution to this issue is to find a way to work together so everyone can be happy. I'm sorry GrahamKracker, but changing the name will solve none of the problems you have brought up, in this message (above) or in others. Better to find a way to use it as a tool for progress, rather than retire it and lose that mechanism. GrahamKracker, I do feel sorry that you experience that kind of behavior from people. I just believe your solution is misplaced, and unproductive.

This is exactly what I wanted to respond with. Thanks for getting there first.

I'm not really sure what to think of this. I guess I thought most letters make print, but maybe I'm naive about how many letters they get each day. I would understand some need to be weeded out. I guess if mine didn't make it, that's the way it goes. But in your case to have so many and NONE make it, well, that sounds like more than bad luck.

It's Monday, and still don't see my letter in the on-line edition.

We've stayed there too, and the walk to the DECC is no big deal. Great place to stay, especially if you want to handle your own meals, etc.

Sonuva......no one came on here pointing us to their recap on USCHO. USCHO Game Recap Of course, that might be because of the discrepancy on whether Kozek or Watkins scored a goal. Last winter the Sioux struggled to beat Bemidji. Manitoba beat BSU on Saturday and got thrashed by the Fighting Sioux last night. They did have to play the extra game, so it's fair to take that into account, but another encouraging sign for the team.

I had heard last spring some NAHL coaches commented that Alexander was an underappreciated talent. Of course, with the guys coming in with more, say, exposure, it was easy to discount him. But maybe Alexander will play more of a role than some of us gave him credit for. Who knows how good Manitoba is, so I guess we'll see as times goes on. Still, it's better to look solid against a poor team, than look lost against a poor team! Of the 5 incoming freshmen D Jones has kind of taken a back seat to Chorney and Lee as far as expectations. It's good to hear the coach compliment his play as well. As others have said, D is a question mark but it sounds like they played well tonite. Also good to hear the positive comments on Radke, as his contributions will be significant if he's stepped up from last year.

Great stuff, thanks!

Did Hak have much to say on the post-game? How did Watkins look? Did he play?

Good to hear Kaip was on the ice. Those who watched, how did he look?

And Genoway had 2 min for "illegal equipment". I wonder if he had too much curve on his stick? Or was he wearing platform skates?
