Kozek has had some chances playing on a scoring line and didn't really capitalize. I like his potential but he has to realize that potential. Forney was injured much of last season, and that hampered his ability to be that top 2 line guy. Hopefully he'll be healthy and have a summer to prepare and we will get to see what kind of player he really is.

I think someone posted a rumor about Grieco and Hamilton on USCHO. Who knows if it is true. As per "Donald" who must be our friendly AA fan (aka DTP), it's not likely that Hamilton is getting much of a scholarship, therefore I doubt he needs to be "forced out" to make room for Gregoire. And if the Sioux are "pushing out" Grieco that just leaves them with Walski as the backup. Seems like we're short a goalie then, so not sure how Donald thinks this is evidence of "overrecruiting". And how could Donald wonder why Fornier couldn't "cut it" at UND? It shows how out of touch with reality this guy is.

This is no different than any other sport. Khalid El'Amin (sp?) did this to MN bb, and of course there are others. Michael Dorr just did it to Duluth and ended up at MN. Hagemo did it to WI and ended up at MN. I think the only question is the ethics of continuing to recruit a kid after he's verballed somewhere else. I don't know if it happened in any of these other situations or not, or (should the Gregoire news actually be fact) whether it happened in this case either. But if a kid changes his mind, there's not much to be said about it. However, yes, it would bother me if it happened to the Sioux. But that's the way it can go. Sometimes it could benefit your team, sometimes it could bite you in the butt. From what little I know about Gregoire this would be very welcome news if true. Hope it is!

Welcome Mike Fink from Hopkins High School! Looks like The Exiled One was at least "half" right in his recent post about prospective recruits. This was posted by Ronk11 on GPL and gives a little bkd on Fink. From this site, some additional bkd on Fink: Michael Fink So Center 25games 30-23-53 Fink was the 3rd highest sophomore scorer in the state in 2006-07 That list above was for just the sophomore class. This page is for ALL players in MN and lists Fink as the 48th best player in the state this year. The list is actually pretty interesting to review.

I do and don't agree. I agree that Phil is the obvious candidate to carry the load, but we all know it's all about who prepares best, practices best, and finally performs in the games. No one is guarenteed anything.

Grieco was VERY young last year. He probably should have been a freshman this year based on age. His DOB was 11/27/88. He didn't turn 18 until almost half-way through last season.

It's probably just as well that's he's already graduated. It's unlikely Dirty'd be getting one of those new Engelstad "late-bloomer" scholarships.

I'm not exactly clear on the details but I think every time you play up in AA you get 2 extra home games in your schedule. That's not bad compensation, and it would go away if AA was dropped. Personally, I'd like to see BSU in the WCHA, but I'm not familiar with all the dynamics and there are some drawbacks.
