Some people have posted that with 3 straight runs to the FF without a championship Hakstol is starting to look like Woog, etc. Let's check out BC. In the last 10 years, 9 NCAA appearances, 7 FF appearances, and 1 championship. I think we can give Hak a couple more kicks at the can before we get too impatient.

I talk to myself at work at times. Sometimes a co-worker will bust me and ask what I'm doing talking to myself. I say "it's the only intelligent conversation I get around here". That always goes over well.

We were up for the Mankato series and very few people in our section appeared to care much about the game. Just sat there quiet even if we tried to get chants going.

Hey DAR, what are you going to complain about now? So far so good. I'll keep my fingers crossed that a few more possible departures will stick around, but if not at least we've dodged a couple of bullets. There have been recent years when just about everybody who could leave, left. The dike is holding for the moment, let's see how strong it is. As fans we are fortunate to have two fine young men sticking around for another year. We should never take this for granted.

Defense is a tough thing to learn at this level and Genoway lacks the size advantage to help him in some situations. Genoway has great skills and can be a good defenseman, but there were times this season where his lack of size and experience really hurt him back by the net. That said, in the scenario as you lay it out, he would be the more likely candidate to move to forward. But in that scenario, if he moves back to D in 2008, I don't think he would be as proficient as he could be, but that might just have to be the way things have to be. Part of my answer stems from this year where, even though the Sioux struggled to score up front, the coaches seemed that they wanted Genoway back at D. Maybe this was because they anticipated next year's log jam, I don't know.

The fatal assumption people make is that this money, if not going to the lawsuit fund, would go to UND for other uses. That's just too much of a stretch to make. I would guess the majority of alumni are giving to UND what they want to give to the University. It's an assumption (maybe incorrect, but I don't think so) I'm making that the majority of the money going to UND to fight the NCAA would likely have gone to a new boat, a vacation, or other personal uses, not to the university for other things. But those alumni who are giving decided they'd rather see UND keep the name and that was worth giving more for.

Which means he would only have less than 1 year of D experience prior to 2008. My point is I think we want him at D next year so that we have more experienced D in 08.

While I think Genoway has the skills to play forward we're going to be losing a bunch of D after next year. Bina will be gone, likely Chorney (if we get to even keep him this year), Radke, Lee (if we get to keep him this year), possibly Finley. We'll need experienced D for 2008, and for that reason I think Genoway needs to play at D next year. That way going into 2008 we'll have Genoway, Jones, LaPoint and Marto as experienced D to go with Blood and whoever else. I don't know what the roster answers are or would be. I just think for the long term it would be better to have Genoway at D next year.
