  1. I think you know better than that. What bugs me though, is your insistence that the money being donated to fight this battle could be "better used elsewhere". How do you even know this $ would be going to UND? I'll bet a lot of it, even the majority of it, is only being given because the giver wants to fight this battle. They already give whatever sum they give to UND for other purposes. You don't have to agree with the fight if you don't want to, but to continue to complain about the money being spent just doesn't ring with me.
  2. I'm sure there are other qualified candidates to play with the DO duo right now, but from what you say above I would think VV could be a good player. DO don't need a goal scorer to play with them. They are able to score goals on their own. One of attributes of the DOT line from what I saw was their ability to control the puck and cycle and create opportunities from the boards and behind the net. IMO VV showed some ability to do that at the end of the season playing with Porter and Watkins. And if he can get to the front of the net and clean up some garbage, it seems conceivable that he could work out well on that line. If you put someone like Trupp on that line, it seems to me the whole complexion of how they play will change. Will that be for worse or better? I don't know. Might work out just fine.
  3. NOW I think you're getting a little too optimistic.

I like the Smear Line for that!

    Toews Watch

We'll have to see if we play by the same rules! Hey, it's a trailer house. Unclear on the concept? We're all coming out of the woodwork today. I guess it's the off-season.

My Grandpa could kick your.... j/k. That's our family "game". I've never met anyone else who plays it.
  7. Some people have posted that with 3 straight runs to the FF without a championship Hakstol is starting to look like Woog, etc. Let's check out BC. In the last 10 years, 9 NCAA appearances, 7 FF appearances, and 1 championship. I think we can give Hak a couple more kicks at the can before we get too impatient.
  8. The Oshie pic with the little girl is excellent. Did that picture of Hak come right after he heard from Oshie, Chorney and Duncan that they were coming back?
  9. I talk to myself at work at times. Sometimes a co-worker will bust me and ask what I'm doing talking to myself. I say "it's the only intelligent conversation I get around here". That always goes over well.
  10. We were up for the Mankato series and very few people in our section appeared to care much about the game. Just sat there quiet even if we tried to get chants going.
  11. I would have stood and applauded, but from what I saw the weekend I was up there, no one else in my section would have.
  12. You're right. That may have nothing to do with it. Then again, it might.
  13. It's early, but Bina might warrant that C too.
  14. BRILLIANT!
  15. That was great, mikejm. But I'm not sure that was Toews on the phone with the Blackhawks. I think it was Duncan doing his best JT impression.
  16. Just giving you crap. It probably isn't obvious that there was a link in that post.
  17. Jeez, I can't believe you didn't read back 2 posts.
  18. I would think Finley is a possibility. I don't know how much but it's probably fair to have him in the conversation.
  19. Per the thread subject, they're not the only ones!
  20. To answer the thread subject question: NO!
  21. You all wish.
  22. Hey DAR, what are you going to complain about now? So far so good. I'll keep my fingers crossed that a few more possible departures will stick around, but if not at least we've dodged a couple of bullets. There have been recent years when just about everybody who could leave, left. The dike is holding for the moment, let's see how strong it is. As fans we are fortunate to have two fine young men sticking around for another year. We should never take this for granted.
  23. Defense is a tough thing to learn at this level and Genoway lacks the size advantage to help him in some situations. Genoway has great skills and can be a good defenseman, but there were times this season where his lack of size and experience really hurt him back by the net. That said, in the scenario as you lay it out, he would be the more likely candidate to move to forward. But in that scenario, if he moves back to D in 2008, I don't think he would be as proficient as he could be, but that might just have to be the way things have to be. Part of my answer stems from this year where, even though the Sioux struggled to score up front, the coaches seemed that they wanted Genoway back at D. Maybe this was because they anticipated next year's log jam, I don't know.
  24. The fatal assumption people make is that this money, if not going to the lawsuit fund, would go to UND for other uses. That's just too much of a stretch to make. I would guess the majority of alumni are giving to UND what they want to give to the University. It's an assumption (maybe incorrect, but I don't think so) I'm making that the majority of the money going to UND to fight the NCAA would likely have gone to a new boat, a vacation, or other personal uses, not to the university for other things. But those alumni who are giving decided they'd rather see UND keep the name and that was worth giving more for.
