  1. Great photos. Thanks! I particularly like the photo of Oshie being chased by #19.
  2. Have you watched the link to that goal that RedFrog has posted? It's hard for me to believe anyone can complain about that call.
  3. Radke skated right into the zone and tackled the State defender at the top of the crease. This opened the lane for Miller. Watch RedFrog's video link and you can see it clearly. It was a great football move. Wrong sport though.
  4. Read up a bit for answers to your first 2 questions. I thought it was legit. No, but the Sioux did beat State. Sioux had some good bounces (VandeVelde's and Duncan's goals as an example).
  5. Watched the game down at Sensers in Bloomington. Very glad I had a chance to watch this game. A few thoughts: 1. I think the most exciting thing for me tonite was the play of the freshmen forwards. These guys fit in, just like Hakstol had said. Frattin - he seems more than just a scorer. He made some very good plays with the puck as well, and seemed comfortable on the ice. Malone - played physical and appears to be VERY strong. Very impressive shift in the 3rd where he just held off State defenders on the boards and controlled the puck. Like someone said, not afraid to hit anyone. Trupp - showed some nice skill. Found out some things he probably got away with in juniors didn't work at this level, but will likely learn from that. Thing that stood out to me the most was how he was flying around and hitting hard for such a small guy. Also, you can see that desire for the puck. LaPoint - seemed like he needs to catch up to the game at this level, but for the first game of the season not too bad. 2. Hakstol wasn't blowing smoke on VandeVelde. He seems to be much more of a factor than last year. In fact, he looked better than he was at the end of last year. 3. Duncan wasn't totally made by Toews, that was clear tonite. He got a fluky goal, but it was the other stuff he did with and without the puck that showed his skill. 4. Kozek looks like a better player, to me, than last year. Way to go Andrew! Fun game to watch!
  6. No. That's WHY the mishap occured.
  7. Siouxnami, be careful. You're sounding like you're wearing moron and gold. Motzko has done some very good things at SCSU and is doing some very good recruiting. It's reasonable for a recruit to project forward and feel that SCSU has a strong future. The past doesn't necessarily predict anything.
  8. Thanks PCM!!! It was a nice treat to log on and find a coaches show recap. Drop the puck!
  9. They need to filter the water there. I think the water was darker than my scotch.
  10. And whose twin sister was his "enforcer"?
  11. Yeah, Sodak Sioux Fan in goal but nobody to shoot at him! If there had been, SSF might have been another in a long line of mighty mite Sioux goalies.
  12. Recently on this board there was a discussion about how many forwards come in and play an impact role as freshmen right out of high school. There are some, but not many. Add to that Forney suffered a significant shoulder injury late in the spring of his senior year, which hampered his ability to prepare for last season. Then suffered another last year and finally had surgery after the season. The kid has barely had a "healthy" chance to play or prepare. Why don't we give him some time.

    Jason Blake

His family has had their share of tough breaks. Good luck, Jason!
  14. It's great to see the goals put up yesterday, and by who they were put up. However, I still remember there were goals scored in Manitoba games in years past by players that barely showed up on the scoresheet the rest of the year. Better to score than not score, but I'll not use yesterday's results to predict too much.

    LAMMY

Since we cannot seem to find a consistent name to refer to Jean-Phillippe Lamoureux, I propose "The Goalie formerly known as Lammy", and if someone can find the ying-yang symbol that will make it that much easier. It worked for Prince.
  16. I don't care if it is a meaningless game, it's great to hear Kozek making a nice play with the puck and being rewarded with a nice goal. Good for him.
  17. I just registered for the free audio about 15 minutes ago with no problems.
  18. That is an excellent read. Chorney sounds like one great guy. Thanks PCM!
  19. I posted this in the Protest thread, but it may be relevant here as well. This piece by Katherine Kersten in the Star Trib is not related to the nickname controversy, but may have some relevant points.

  21. Correct, Diggler. Once you have purchased a Final Five ticket package, the X will send you a form every year after to give you a choice to renew. You'll get to keep your same seats if you want them, or you can try and upgrade the location but that is not guarenteed. There is only a $5 charge for handling each year, so that is a HUGE bonus over working with Ticketnazi. Oh, and if you want to purchase additional tickets in future years they give you the option to do that as well, however, I bet your location would move in order to find seats to accomodate your full group. I don't believe you get this service if you just buy tickets for a game. I think you need to purchase the whole ticket package.
