A 1-0 loss means you had a chance to win, but a split on the road is not to bad against the #3 team in the country. Good job, Sioux.
-
Sioux fortunate that Chorney's skate was in the right place for the save, there. If the Sioux win that flurry and save might be the key point in the game. Oshie looks a little ungainly out there at times but he can't be too bad off to be out on the PK.

This period feels like the next goal wins.

I don't recall any makeup calls last night....

I'm going with Blais. His 25 year old Canadians will kick the snot out of Woog's MN high schoolers.

Wow, strange how team performance can change from night to night. Last night the Sioux got killed on face-offs, tonite the Sioux doing way better even with DU's last line change. In the last part of the 2nd period the Sioux made Denver look overmatched. I couldn't believe how many tipped passes the Sioux turned into rushes and opportunities. Hopefully the Sioux can maintain the momentum and put Denver away. I'd sure like to get another goal early in the period, however. Any word on Oshie? The Denver announcers said he left the ice. After watching him leave the ice last night I was surprised to see him back on later in the game. Hopefully he'll be able to play next weekend. Anyone who complained that the smaller Nike Swift jerseys would eliminate watching the jersey flow throw the air behind a fast skater hasn't seen Marto make his jersey fly. Unfortunately, the Sioux allowed DU to start evening up the shots. One way to keep the ref from calling penalties against you (mythically evening things up) is to score SH or create SH chances repeatedly.

The announcers said DU lost the face-offs in the first period 16-4. That's amazing.

HAHA! In watching the last 2 periods last night a most of this I'm really impressed with Marto's offensive abilities. That kid has really came close to making good things happen on a few occasions. Needs to stay on his feet, though. People of covered the weird officiating thing already. I couldn't believe the tackling Denver got away with last night and now tonite things swing completely the other way around. Sioux should be taking better advantage, though, than so few shots on goal with 3-4pp opportunities in the first period. Last night it seemed Denver really blocked a ton of Sioux shots. Tonite the Sioux seem to be doing that. Seemed like the Sioux had the better of the play but later in the period Denver started catching up. Hopefully we can put one in on the PP right off and really put Denver in a hole.

I like the Denver announcers complaining that the Sioux are getting the benefit of all the ticky-tack calls after that big slash along the board. Idiots.
-
I don't know man. I'm just not getting a warm fuzzy on this one. Personally, I like something a bit more aggressive sounding.
-
Really heard "Home of the Sioux" at the end of the anthem too.
-
Is this the first time LaPoint has been with Chorney? Looks like all 3 D pair were tweaked.

Personally, I don't care. There would be a lot more Scandahoovians who would be speaking out in support of the nickname than there ever were Native Americans. I think that's one we can win. I hate the idea of ducking for cover every time we fear which way the NCAA will fart next.
-
You are correct. Wouldn't it be ironic?
-
I think we should change it to the Fighting Nokotas. Then we can dress someone up in a native costume, riding a Nokota, and lead the football team out onto the field, where they would throw a flaming spear on to the 50 yard line.

You're probably right, but I still think Thunder Gods is a cool name. That reminds me. When I moved to the Cities in the late 1980's there was a cover band named after a Deep Purple song. One of the best bands I ever heard. The "Speed Kings". Always thought that was a cool name too.
-
In a little nod to the Scandanavian ancestry we could work off of Thor. University of North Dakota Thunder Gods A nice Norseman type logo for the jerseys, and crossed war hammers on the shoulders. Sure, it's a little bit of a takeoff from our old jerseys, but what's wrong with borrowing what worked so well?

We're good now, thanks.

If Davidson gets on the ice this weekend we'll have an opportunity to see how prescient his junior coach is. I believe he was quoted as saying that once Davidson got in the lineup he wouldn't give up his spot.

These are the things that stood out to me too.

I thought MI looked that good. I thought they made MN look bad.
-
I watched a chunk of the MN/MI game on tv last sat and I will say MI looked scary good. Wow.

Lot of guys probably dream of an opportunity to do something like this. Good for Landon!

A player once told me that he thought it was tougher to win the Final Five than the national championship. Because of the quality of teams in the WCHA, you have to go through a tougher field than you would in an NCAA tournament.

I agree. It's great to talk about as fans but if Hak ever sniffed the players feeling the same way the blacks should "swiftly" be shredded and the players told to learn to win in their road greens or die trying.
