  1. Ken Landau, voice of CC Tigers radio: "Little 6 officials seem to have vision issues."
  2. Means our 6th ranked PK (86.4%) is getting hardly any work. Not that that's a bad thing. Conclusion: excellent team speed and generally sound play in our own zone lead to fewer penalties.
  3. Statistic of the day: Through 20 games, UND defenders have taken 34 PIM, or just 1.7 PIM/Game. That's as low as I can remember. UND forwards: 106 PIM, or 5.3 PIM/game. Yes, the penalty leaders include a couple of our top skill guys.
  4. ASU tops UNO in OT at Mullett. 2-1 Smart puck management on the game winner - puck carrier pulls out of the zone, and UNO fails to cover the guy changing lines, resulting in breakaway and GWG. Trivia: Since going D-1, ASU hasn't lost a home OT game (Oceanside or Mullet).
  5. Maradona didn't have replay to catch his.
  6. Perfect here but … for the first two minutes of the pp, I’d rather a much grainier feed. Ugh
  7. Western Michigan at Lindenwood 2-0 after 1 Link to video: https://lindenwoodlions.com/sports/2022/10/6/video-streaming
  8. Yes, UW won. (Very well played road win in South Bend). Sorry if I used a double negative to express that.
  9. In addition to UND's win last night, our strength of schedule had a nice night, as everyone in-conference won (Denver, Western Michigan Omaha in OT), and none of non-conference opponents lost (Wisconsin W, Bemidji W, MSU-Mankato tied at Augie).
  10. More teachable moments than just about any “W” I can remember. Overall, loved the compete the last 45 minutes, but lots of room to improve.
  11. St Thomas' rink is scheduled to be up and running by then ...
  12. Yes, one aspect of starting from scratch is no need to be loyal to club-era players.
  13. Augie with a nice effort at Notre D. Credited with an OT loss that was almost a regulation loss. Regulation ends, then ND challenges for a major, which occurred with 17 seconds left. They win the call, and were about to reset the clock back to 17 left in regulation, when someone (who knows the rules) said no you don't. So OT was going to be 4x3 for 5 minutes, when ND scored to win. But Augie skate well, play good positional D, and Garrett Raboin has enough connections to get them off the ground sooner, and maybe ramp faster to competitiveness than St Thomas with Rico (who bombed out of Miami).
  14. Could have made a lot of money back in May with that bet.
  15. https://www.uppermichiganssource.com/2023/12/28/how-watch-great-lakes-invitational-featuring-michigan-tech-hockey/ For those wishing to scout Alaska (Fairbanks), or just wanting free hockey.
  16. The CHN bracket has three eastern teams get regional #1 seeds. If so, that would be the first time ever, I believe, with only 1 western team getting a regional #1 seed.
  17. Second those emotions. The Canadian hockey players, when I went to school, were all (almost all?) the first in their family to attend university, and had enormous support from family back home to make the most of that opportunity. And their coaches were first in their families to get degrees too, as I recall. I agree that "college isn't for everyone". Glad major junior is there as a good choice for many.
  18. Yeah, but Slovakia's defense is better. PS. UMD defense not the same since Jason Herter left.
  19. The regular season will still be 34 games, the NCAA limit, except for seasons where a team qualifies for additional games (games in Alaska, US Hockey Hall of Fame Game, Icebreaker). As to the championship format, I don't think any team has the locker rooms required for a tournament like that to be held at one site. In fact, I think some venues have only two locker rooms (Lawson to be sure) so even Vindy's idea of 4-team tournaments may not be feasible for facilities reasons. NCHC conference regular season will stay at 24 games. The old WCHA 28-game conference schedule was a huge dissatisfier (among many items) that led to the departures from WCHA. The 28 game conference season led to lower conference RPI's and fewer teams in NCAA's. Switching to 24 conference games has been a big reason why NCHC has regularly gotten more teams into NCAA's. That leaves 10 nonconference games most seasons (and up to 12 with the exceptions above). https://nchchockey.com/news/2023/7/5/mens-ice-hockey-arizona-state-to-join-nchc-starting-in-2024-2025-season.aspx
  20. Especially with the turnaround from conference playoffs to NCAA shortening by a day (from Friday to Thursday for 2 of 4 regionals), giving more rest to contending NCHC teams makes a lot of sense. Now just two will play that weekend. The other 2-3-4 conference teams in the NCAA's will now have 11-13 days off (maybe more), giving loads of time for nagging injuries to heal, and for comprehensive scouting of likely opponents. The incentive to finish #7 in the regular season instead of #8 or #9 will create some energy and interest at the bottom of the standings also.
  21. Trick question, since Amsoily Arena is never full. I hope that as part of moving to home ice for semis and final, that ticket allocations for travelling fans are increased to multiples of their regular season allocations.

  23. At NDSU, the football coach picks the AD.
  24. Well, I saw one line with over / under at 48.5 so I guess they figured they were gonna have to get the 49 all by themselves. But yes, I agree with your premise.
